Costa, Silvia and Billy continue their struggles from the Swiss prisons they’re locked up in. They’re accused of possession, transport and attempted use of explosive materials, and of planning to attack an IBM centre under construction. An IBM centre that will be among the focal ones in Europe’s nanotechnology research.

The conditions of our comrades give the strong and clear impression that Swiss authorities aim at wearing out and isolating their resistance struggles. The censorship and requirements imposed on their correspondence show inequivocably that the system is trying both to stop their friendships and relationships and to isolate them from their contacts with the Movement.

This isn’t news! We already know the “democracy” of Swiss jails: for years we have fought against Marco Camenisch’s isolation in Thorberg’s jail. But we know our comrades: always on the front line in years of radical ecological and animal liberation struggles, and against the techno-industrial civilisation. We can’t but admire them and we’re certain that in spite of any bloody prosecutor, they won’t bend and they won’t lower their heads. Their coherence and determination are an example to all of us.

We think it necessary to let our voices be heard by these comrades. May our solidarity break into the thick walls of their jails, may the solidarity actions multiply, may the struggle continue stronger than before. Solidarity has a value and a shape only through our struggles.

We invite every individual and group to make their voices heard in the way they think appropriate: To responde to this attempt of isolating our comrades and re-affirm once again the necessity of our struggles.

NOT A STEP BACKWARDS! FREEDOM FOR SILVIA, COSTA AND BILLY!
SOLIDARITY WITH REVOLUTIONARY PRISONERS!

Jock Palfreeman is a 23 year old Australian who had the courage to stand up against 16 Nazis on a night out in Sofia, Bulgaria. He witnessed the fascists chasing and attacking two young Roma boys. Jock ran to the boys’ aid, he did his best to keep the Nazis at bay by waving a knife at them but they attacked him. Jock was left with nowhere to run and had no choice but to defend himself. Andrey Monov, one of the Nazis, was stabbed and killed and another, Antoan Zahariev was injured. The Roma boys ran away.

Jock has since been tried and sentenced for murder and attempted murder. He has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and has been fined 375,000 Australian dollars.

Andey Monovs Father is well known in Bulgaria and at the funeral there were a mixture of judges, police and politicians.
Jock’s trial was a complete sham-yet another example of corruption and secret hand shakes in the judicial system. The prosecutions case was built on the witness statements made by the other Nazis that were there that night, all claiming that Jock randomly attacked the group and chased them with the intent of killing somebody. Key people and possible witnesses were never interviewed by police and CCTV footage from the scene miraculously went missing and many of the statements made at the time were not the same as the statements submitted to the court by the prosecution. Jock has two appeals before his sentence becomes final.

We must campaign to free Jock and put pressure on Bulgarian authorities to accept his appeal. If his charges were downgraded to excessive use of force during self-defence, he would be already out. We must make sure that this
judicial farce is highlighted and that they will not be able to repeat it again.

Jock has its appeal on 21st of October- it is his only chance to walk free. We need to do everything we can in order to get him out of there. There is going to be an international Day of Action for Jock on 19th. If you can organise an
event in your are please get in touch with us anarchosolidarity(at)yahoo.com . It is also of vital importance to keep
pressure with protest messages and smaller actions up till this time.

More messages to follow. Please distribute this appeal widely, put it on your blogs, websites, forums, email lists.

-Write messages of protest to Bulgarian authorities. It can be letters, faxes, emails or you can even even phone calls.
We include sample letter, but you are welcome to write your own message.

-

Sample message:

To whom it may concern

We are writing in regards to Australian national Jock Palfreeman currently imprisoned in Bulgaria. Palfreeman had been sentenced to 20 years of prison for defending a passer-by and later on, himself from a vicious attack by a group of drunken football hooligans. As a result one of the attackers died and another got injured. Despite it being a clear case of self-defence and his version of events being supported by numerous witnesses, his trial was a farce. Anything working in favour of his defence was completely ignored by the judge.

We demand that Bulgarian authorities grant him appeal and that he will be acquitted of murder charges. We will be watching the next actions of the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice. We will not rest until Jock Palfreeman will get his appeal and is acquitted from those absurd charges.

To friends of Russia and forests everywhere:

The Khimki forest is saved – Now save the activists!

Thanks to an impressive solidarity and historically courageous struggle, activists in Russia from all parts of society supported by people in common have been able to save the Khimki forest close to Moscow. The plan was to build a toll high way through one of the last forests in the green belt surrounding the city. Direct action to save the forest and wider and wider support at street rallies and in opinion polls made president Medvedev decide in favour of protecting the forest for the moment.

Russian democratic culture has shown its strength in a historically important battle. Journalists exposing corrupt economic interests with political support in the project of the high way through the Khimki forest have been attacked and crippled for life. Environmentalists, antifascists, human rights activists and liberal and left wing parties have together with many others been able to confront the interests of the exploiters of the forest.

No to new Moscow trials against activists!

Russia brought literature to the world that inspire generations everywhere and Soviet Union brought us the great victory over German fascism. Cultural inspiration and sacrifice for which we are grateful. Moscow brought us also trials in the 1930s built mostly on fraud and sometimes on grossly exaggerated charges.

The news about the successful outcome of the Khimki forest conflict is accompanied with the information that the activists Alexei Gaskarov and Maxim Solopov are still in jail facing trials which we fear will be built on fraud evidence. They were arrested after a protest action at the Khimki administration building causing some material damage in July in defence of the Russian forest without evidence against them and against normal procedure. The reason why they were arrested was not that they were present at the action but that they were well-known spokespersons for antifascists in Moscow in other matters. They are threatened by many years in the dangerous Russian prison system.

The Khimki forest is saved but it has happened before in Russia in other environmental cases that promises have been given and then not kept. There is only one way to make the victory in the battle for the Khimki forest a victory in the struggle for all forests in Russia and the world. That is to turn the victory into a struggle for the defenders of the forest and all those that have been arrested as the result of the conflict. Only by showing our seriousness in continuing to defend the victory and those that made it possible can we be for sure that the forest will be protected and make our
commitment a warning to anyone exploiting forest anywhere in disrespect of ecological and social concerns.

This is why we call upon organizations and individuals everywhere to continue the struggle.

Free the activists Alexei Gaskarov and Maxim Solopov!

Save the Khimki forest for ever and protect forests everywhere!

CALL FOR INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY WITH THE 14 HOSTAGES OF THE CHILEAN ‘DEMOCRACY’

Welcome to Chile, society of jails and jailers.

This past Saturday the 14th of August, in the cities of Santiago and Valparaíso, an action coordinated by police of all types (special task forces) violently raided three squatted social centers and many private homes in fives communes. The police intimidated people with weapons of war, broke windows and doors, and took many personal items with them from all of the houses.

14 people were detained being informed of the reason for their detention after three hours.

Later, Six people were released on probation for lack of evidence against them. As for the people that remained imprisoned, they were put in isolation cells in maximum security jails where they were awaiting a 180 day long investigation process and potentially a 20 year sentence for alleged illegal terrorist association. The state has alleged that these people were involved in making and blowing up the bombs that have erupted lately in the capital. According to the prosecutor, this association was a hierarchical organization directed by key ringleaders.

This supposition is in absolute contradiction with anarchist ideology – most of the kidnapped people have been labeled as anarchists- which is opposed to the concepts of “leaders” and “hierarchies”…

Furthermore, this charade, is a perfect outcome for the puppeteers and jailers who desire to keep their power. Above all, this has been the result of those citizens, who like their peace so much and through their deafness and silence, are helping to erase the oppressed, the masquerades, jails, and resignations…..

“The bombs case” is the title that keeps appearing in the headlines of the newspapers like a bad novel, in which the main characters, the Minister/Secretary of the Interior, the prosecutor and his police henchmen are trying to catch the ’undesirable’ anarchists. The beginning of the ’bombs case’ is a police persecutions saga that dates back to the 10th of September, the eve of a historic date in Chile, on which people mourn their dead and disappeared ones from the dictatorship, while others display their discontent with the falseness of a democracy that has not changed much from a dictatorship.

In this context, a Molotov bomb was thrown at the house of the government. The images went around the world; the symbol of the concord of democratic parties was blown into pieces; the fraternal unifying factor of the left has been altered. Two weeks later, a vast police contingent raided the squat “La Mansión Siniestra” and arrested 6 people, who, to their own surprise had become, thanks to the distorting role of the press, an illegal association of “Molotov bomb makers”, “violent criminals”, “vandals”. This scenario is the one that the 14 accused comrades were facing.

Back then, the police never thought that evidence was necessary, because the things they seized as alleged bomb making materials were no more than common domestic utensils. These Molotovs never existed. During the judiciary process, the 6 antagonists of this story were allegedly the worst moral aberrations; public opinion has given legitimacy to the sentence of up to five years in jail … But OOPS…’mistake’! The accusations were fake, the police’s masquerade had been revealed. Finally, these 6 people did not serve the time they were sentenced. But that’s only after spending 11 days in a high security prison. Just as expected, no institution was held accountable for the irreversible physical and psychological punishments and damages inflicted on the detainees, nor for the personal belongings that were seized from their them and their comrades.

Four years have gone by since this incident, and with its passing, the travesty of justice, the inequalities and the repressions remain the order of the day.

Only to talk about JUST A FEW concrete examples:

According to the survey of “national socio-economic characterization” (CASEN) the economic gap has increased from 13% to 15% since 2006. Meanwhile the administration of the government wants to spend 135 thousand millions of pesos to build, starting this year, 10 new prisons, which would add to the total of more than 16,500 new vacancies in the prison system. It is important to note, according to the sources of the mideplan, that 64% of the prison population are illiterate or have not finished their basic studies and are the poorest and the most marginalized people in Chilean society. This illustrates that the interest of the system is to imprison the most marginal instead of educating them and providing them with the tools for a better life.

These prisons need jailers…

The alliance of ’democratic’ parties was in charge of the government for a decade after the dictatorship, killing 42 people, and helping, instead of changing, the development of the ’political constitution of Chile’ that was created by the dictatorship, strengthening it with reforms and continuing with its tradition of criminalizing social movements and perfecting the Anti-Terrorism Law. One of the modifications to the Anti-Terrorism Law was to give policemen a status of ’witnesses of faith’, whereby they frequently do not have to present concrete evidence against the accused, which gives the legal support to the masquerade/ setups for those who represent a threat to the system. Among other barbarities, now in 2010, the turn of the ’coalition for change’ with Sebastian Piñera in power. This regime is pro-dictatorship and a huge collaborator with the establishment of the neo-liberal capitalist model. Let’s not forget that he was also the one that gave the Chileans the opportunity of having credit cards to live working in order to pay their debts. But above all, nowadays M. Piñera is famous for his campaign ’the Battle against Delinquency’, in which he shows us his support for a policy of more ’security’, in other words, and to be less moderate with the term, jailers that secure the power of their friends – the businessmen and capitalists. To make sure that things proceed smoothly, the president will reinforce the repression against historically repressed populations, increasing police personnel to 15000 carabineros (paramilitary police) and increasing the salaries of civilian police, who have had in the last few months their salaries increased by 18%.

This is how, the ’Battle against Delinquency’, is an exemplary example that shows how the inefficacy of the alliance of political parties has erupted tragically in our lives. Today we become its scapegoats, displayed like pariahs in an outlandish play, in order to legitimize their ventures and win ’moral sympathies’ among the spectators and the right. In this hunt to cover up facts, which have been intentionally invisible in the media, the hunger strike of 32 Mapuche political prisoners, who fight the adversity of Chilean justice and demand their natural rights, is being hidden. Or another omission, the use of cheap, insufficient equipment to attempt the ’rescue’ of 33 miners trapped only a few days earlier this week.

Today, these 14 comrades, among them, anarchists, communicators and social fighters, show solidarity to unjust causes, are involved in open squatted social centers where they sustain libraries, video libraries, gardens, and people who exchange and question ideas and actions in forums and activities conducted in a horizontal manner. These people are automatically criminalized; prosecutors have enough ambiguous evidence to take their freedom away from them. For example, a tapped telephone call where a mother demanded that one of the accused people be taken care of; this was used as evidence against her. The open squatted spaces and the people who are committed to denouncing and transforming on a daily basis their own lives and their society have become more vulnerable to the apprehensions of the state and its prosecutions, which illustrates that this prosecution is also ideological.

Now… Who are the terrorists? .

We make a call to build an international support network for the people imprisoned on the 14th of August. Today more than ever! Internationalists of the world to solidarity and action, to face the kidnappings and lies of the Chilean state!.

The South Korean firm is responsible for exploiting locals under dangerous working environments, but Hanjin officials have been trying to dodge the blame as they are ruthless, and rebuke the allegations, claiming that the accidents and deaths resulted from the workers’ not having taken safety precautions. However, a recent state report declared that Hanjin has underpaid its workers, cost-of-living allowances, overtime and holiday wages. Laborers were also not given proper safety gear such as gas masks or goggles while on duty. So far, nothing is being done to address the workers concerns. The workplace, which has churned out orders for 42 vessels, bulk carriers and oil tankers so far, is so life-threatening that one Philippine congressman labeled it a “graveyard.”

Hanjin’s Subic facility was built due to capacity constraints in Korea, and it is currently building its second shipyard in the southern Philippines, which is set for completion in 2017. Hanjin is used to trampling on workers rights and has often combated the fierce unions in South Korea, with psychological pressure causing one union official to suicide himself from a construction crane after the company repossessed his house, in an infamous case from 2009.

325 was sent this message on 21/8/2010 from an anonymous worker at Hanjin Heavy Industries, Subic Bay Freeport Zone:

“I’m a worker at Hanjin Heavy Industries Construction Philippines (HHIC-Phils Inc.) Workers in this company are constantly suffering from low pay, Harassment from Korean Bosses, unsafe working standards, and we are sometimes given food that is stale, rotten with maggots and inadequate. Aside from this Hanjin does not recognize all workers as there own but the management insist that we are employees of Korean sub-contractors that are not even registered at the local Department of Labor and Employment. Due to this sub-contractualization we lost most of our benefits and job security. In the past few years since Hanjin started operation in 2006, there have been about 30 deaths due to accidents in the shipyard, and even up to the present deaths are still happening. The government is doing nothing to help the more than 16,000 workers in the shipyard, but rather is biased in favour of the management. For the past few years many politicians have used the plight of the Hanjin workers as a tool to win votes for election by posing to help the workers, but in reality they are only using it as an instrument for propaganda. Many workers are disgusted about how the Philippino government and politicians are manipulating the issues regarding Hanjin. WE NEED HELP.. DESPERATELY… FOR THE PLIGHT OF WORKERS… WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BUT OUR CHAINS.
What ever you can do to help us is appreciated. please include us in your advocacy.”

From Mainstream:

Raids Lead To Arrest Of 14 Alleged Members Of Chilean Anarchist Group.

Police say financing likely came from Italy, Greece, Mexico and Argentina. Police on Saturday led simultaneous raids that resulted in the arrests of 14 people suspected of belonging to a Chilean anarchist group accused of more than 100 bombings. 14 Suspects accused of 23 Bomb Attacks nabbed in Chile.

SANTIAGO – Fourteen people were arrested Saturday on suspicion of taking part in at least 23 bomb attacks on various districts of Santiago, officials said. The capture of the suspects, known to have ties to anarchist groups, took place in three simultaneous raids carried out in the small hours of Saturday in Santiago and Valparaiso. Most of the suspects were arrested in downtown Santiago, while others were nabbed in other districts of Santiago and in the nearby city of Valparaiso. Besides detailing the number of arrests, the prosecutor of the case, Alejandro Peña, also said that another hideout was raided in the Santiago suburb of Pudahuel. According to Gen. Bruno Villalobos of the intelligence agency of the Carabineros militarized police force, “scientific” evidence exists of the connection between those in custody and the succession of attacks that for several years have been perpetrated in Santiago and other cities. Among the evidence pointing to their guilt were traces of TNT on the hands and clothing of three of those under arrest, according to the prosecutor, who added that there is other proof that implicates “six” of the suspects as perpetrators of the attacks.
The raids were carried out by Carabineros agents with helicopter support. Only three of the detainees have been identified up to now: Pablo Morales, Rodolfo Retamales and Andrea Urzua. The first two are former members of the Lautaro Group, a far-left organization that fought against the 1973-1990 dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, while the woman was caught several years ago trying to smuggle explosives into a jail in the Argentine city of Neuquen, where some of her friends were imprisoned. “This culminates a long, wide-ranging work of investigation that allowed us to catch a significant number of those involved in assembling and installing explosive devices,” Gen. Villalobos told reporters.
For several years, Chile has been hit by attacks with low-power homemade bombs using fire extinguishers filled with explosives and claimed in many cases to have been the work of anarchist groups under different names.

The most recent bombs, which were defused by police before exploding, were planted in a restaurant on Aug. 6 in the affluent Santiago neighborhood of Vitacura and, the day before, in a plaza near the summer residence of Chile’s presidents in the city of Viña del Mar. Some time ago a special prosecutor was appointed to investigate the attacks, which up to now have taken the life of a young anarchist, (Maurico Morales) who was blown up and killed last year by a bomb he was carrying in his backpack while bicycling down a street in Santiago.

Those in custody were taken to a police station and are to appear before a court that will define the procedure for their trials. According to Peña, the detainees will be accused “of the crime of illicit terrorist association and of planting explosive devices in order to spread fear among the population.”
Chilean Interior Minister Rodrigo Hinzpeter considered the operations “very good news for the government and principally for Chilean men and women.”

-
Early in the morning of Saturday, August 14, in Santiago, agents of the Chilean state raided the self-organized social center Jonny Cariqueo and the squatted social center and library Sacco and Vanzetti, shutting down the latter. Several homes were also raided, and 14 comrades taken into custody, with charges of illicit association and placing bombs.

The raid is the work of the new State’s Attorney Alejandro Peña, who claims to be going after a terrorist anarchist organization, which he has largely invented with the complicity of various judges. Under his watch, international solidarity has become “terrorist financing” and anarchist libraries have become safe houses or centers of power.

For some time now, the Chilean state has presented the anarchists as public enemy number one. These arrests and all the fear-mongering carried out by the media, as always complicit with Capital, is meant to distract people from the plight of the 33 miners and their families, and from the Mapuche prisoners on hunger strike in struggle for their lands and freedom.

The State/Capital wants to cover up its inability to catch anyone for the over 100 bombs that have been placed throughout Santiago against targets of the powerful, as part of the ongoing social war in Chile.

The day before, on August 13, agents of the State disarmed a bomb set to go off at an elite restaurant in Santiago. The communique claiming responsibility for the bomb stated that members of the institutions of the powerful should no longer feel safe, as they carry out massive violence and repression against all those who struggle.

The social center Jonny Cariqueo calls for solidarity and says it will struggle to remain open and mobilize and agitate in the struggle against State and Capital, and in particular against the Anti-Terror Law.

Rough fast translation from Liberacion Total

Formalization of the hostages.

This Saturday around 16:00 pm the companions where brought before the 11º Santiago Court Guarantee where the southern prosecution recuest extend the detention until next Tuesday, 17 August, where they would be concluded by “installation of explosive or incendiary devices and terrorist conspiracy” (law made by Pinochet), question which the Ministry of Interior would also make part risking 20 years. During the hearing, demonstrated once again the circus nature of the Chilean courts. Judge Lidia Bruna agreed to each and every one of the requests of the Prosecutor and the Ministry of Interior (press presence, extending the period of detention for three days, insolition of the companions amog themselves and the outside, and also the order to bring the police collaborator Gustavo Fuentes “El Grillo” to the audience next tuesday, to formalize with the rest of the alleged members of this “terrorist conspiracy.” The vultures of the bourgeois press were all in the courtroom and fired their flashes once the judge gave the signal for the guards to enter the companions.

The arguments of the defensory were heard and denied one after another. The judge had everything ready for each resolution automatically read it with her voice of old bitch of a paper above his deck. When they ask to a companion if they had reclaims to do in relation to detention, he said he had been repeatedly threatened with death, and she responds “that’s all?”. Neither seemed to attract much attention the story about the destruction of particular houses of the companions. The Prosecution justify the injuries cause by the police to a companion of the Sacco and Vanzetti (a rubber bullet in his head and a kick on the nouse) in the fact it would have looked out a window of the building throwing things and destroying evidence, thing that the companion denied this version inmeditly calling of “Imaginative”, was reprimanded for showing disrespect to prosecutors. So beating and threatening people with death and rupture unnecessarily houses is part of normal that judges uphold, but any questioning of the repressive apparatus can not take place in this circus. This lady continued with the same attitude when defense counsel had talked about an “orchestration” between the different media to blame ours comrades.

When it became clear that the show was already ceasing to continue on Tuesday at 9:00pm, began to feel the cheering of support, very welcomed by the spirits of our companions. Canvases spread outside the courtroom, were sung songs of support (“Free the prisoners to fight”), the expression of the old fascist lady was of disgust and horror, some bodyguards immediately surround the prosecutor Alejandro Peña. After wrangling between those who went to support our comrades with two types of police dogs (police and press), the fascist judge made another signal that the 14 comrades were taked inside and then, from the cells area, came a contingent furious policemen armed with sticks and shields, which flew over the banks of defendants and lawyers with the clear intention of beating up friends and relatives of the detainees. Of course, the bourgeois press has noted that all the comrades who came to support, as bad as the accused, attacked the press and other guardians of the capitalist order, but the truth is that the aggression came from the guards, while police and journalists beat many people savagely, and outside the enclosure were joined by riot police launching a manhunt that was not intended to arrest any one but to punish directly.

The companion Luisa Vergara was closed with a traumatic brain injury, the mother of one of the detainees had minor injuries caused by a fucking journalist, and luckily most of the windows of this shit temple (courts) were destroyed to be used against the officers. Also, several journalists were beaten and their cameras damaged. No companion was arrested but many were beaten by the agents.

Once outside of the courts the companions found out that the SSC and Library Sacco and Vanzetti was being closed for a joint operation by the two police departments. During the afternoon, the building had been guarded by a truck from the PDI (Police Of Investigation), whose occupants at first denied the entry of a group of companion, but later agreed to let in and take some things, warning that there was an order not to leave the building were reoccupied. Hours later, at about 18:30, police had entered the squat and were carrying out work to close all access. The Library and all the other things that were not seized (this time took little in the raid) remained sequestered there. The police did not exhibit any eviction order or anything, and said it was orders of the prosecutor. They also said the squat would be recovered by their legitimate owners, the ISP (Internal Revenue Service). A quick operation that took them by surprise yielded a number of books that were put to safe, sparking a short police chase in the area without any one arrested.

The Kidnapped Companions are:

-Pablo Morales: Ex-Lautarista (A military political organization that operates in Chile at the end of the dictatorship and the beginning of democracy). Arrested at his house in Santiago.
-Rodolfo Retamales: Ex-Lautarista. Arrested at his house in Santiago. Also was raided thei parent’s house.
-Omar Hermosilla: Ex-Lautarista. Arrested at his house in Santiago.
-Andrea Urzùa: In 2008 the police say that she traied to enter nitrogliceryn inside one of the jails in Argentina where they were Freddy Fuentevilla y Marcelo Villarroel (companions in trail for a bank robbery). Arrested at his house in Santiago
-Felipe Guerra: Arrested in SSC and Library Sacco and Vanzetti. Also was raided his mom’s house. The companion was injured by agents of the ERTA.
-Cristian Cancino: He was arrested in the squat “La Idea” after the dead of Mauricio Morales (comrade killed by his own bomb on May 22, 2009), where the police charged him with almost 500 grams of black gunpowder. Cristian decided to assume his guilt in a short trail to go out of jail.
-Carlos Riveros: Arrested at his house in Santiago.
-Camilo Perez: Arrested at his house in Santiago.
-Ivan Goldenberg: Arrested at his house in Valparaiso. Police say the gun he was carrying Mauricio Morales at the time of his death, was owned by the grandfather of Ivan.
-Candelaria Cortès-Monroy: Arrested at his house in Santiago. Candelaria in 2008 was stabbed by Gustavo Fuentes aka “El Grillo” who was his partner and who is accused of installing bombs.
-Francisco Solar: Arrested at his house in Valparaiso.
-Monica Caballero: Arrested at the squat “La Crota”.
-Diego Morales: Arrested at the squat “La Crota”. The police invented that Diego has in his hands traces of TNT.
-Vinicio Aguilera: Arrested at the squat “La Crota”. The police invented that Vinicio also has in his hands traces of TNT.

All male companions are in the high security prison and female comrades in Women’s Counseling Center.

Immediate Solidarity with our companions kidnapped by the Power!

The “terrorist conspiracy” exists only in the head of the prosecutor Peña!

(The hearing for the appeal of anarchist comrade George Voutsis-Vogiatzis, arrested for bank robbery, was set for June 7th, 2010 but was postponed for May 6th, 2011. Here’s a translated interview he gave to the newspaper “Proto Thema” on May 9th 2010)

-The tragic account of the march last Wednesday counts three deaths, among them a pregnant woman, which with other victims were locked inside Marfin bank. Murders attributed to the anarchists Molotov…

The emotional and political gap in the last hours after the death of the three workers in the bank from asphyxiation can not be described in words or replaced by actions, counterbalancing or convictions. The value of human life when its not jointly responsible for the criminal plans of authority is the purest in the world. Of course, the anarchist movement is not accountable towards this event. Anarchists are not representatives of abstract violence. Anarchists express revolutionary violence. A violence expressed by targeting state and capital. The operation of de-politicizing the anarchist movement will not work for them again. Anarchists are proving, especially in recent years, through carrying out attacks with Molotov cocktails, gas canisters and other means of action against targets of authority that they never turned against the life of the workers since in every case, people involved in those actions first make sure to evacuate the buildings or attacking them at night when they are closed.

-What label would you put on what you are? Are you a bank robber? Was your aim the money?

The bank robbery as a practice is part of the overall rupture with the system of injustice. This is the basic difference between the revolutionary-anarchist and the career-robber. Revolutionary experience consists of a total of practices and tactics of battle, that have as their purpose to attack the enemy forces and to destabilize the existing social situation to make the transition to a free society. Beyond that a bank robbery remains a decent choice over the years, since it is an act against the predatory role of the banks.

-What was your first thought when you heard about the arrest of the people belonging to the “Revolutionary Struggle”?

Initially I followed with great care the operation or dislocation of the comrades, allegedly members of the “Revolutionary Struggle”. Once again we became receivers of the cultural poverty of a system that is collapsing. Of course the presumption of innocence and the respect of prisoners lives are completely unknown to the man-preying vultures of the media, the audacity of which has exceeded all limits.

-In what recent case do you think that the media have gone beyond the limits?

In the case of the strange death of a 15 year old Afghan refugee,(meaning the 15year old afghan boy that died when a bomb he found in a bin exploded in his hands, also injuring his sister) which was the backbone of the “anti-terror” campaign in the part of the ideological devaluation during the arrests of comrades who are persecuted for their involvement in “R.S.”.

The media handled the incident with the now usual tactic of publicizing made up (fictional) telephone calls that are not a result of police surveillance, but leaks from the police.

In the conversation comrades, suspected members of the “R.S.” are supposedly giggling with an incredible amount of cynicism when one of them is watching the kid looking over the already placed bomb. A conversation that is not included in any court documents. Beyond that, the imperial Greek government, allies of the Americans and their genocides, of course, in Afghanistan, is calling for a social consensus against “terrorism” in response to a dead boy from Afghanistan. How many such boys has the Greek Army assassinated in Afghanistan? This is an interesting survey that unfortunately never took place, since a missile to the U.S. embassy in Greece is a terrorist act and is punishable with decades in prison, unlike the murderous Greek troops in Afghanistan who are portrayed as “humanitarian assistance” and are decorated by their bosses.

All this time I remain consciously away from any kind denouncing of revolutionary action and continue to defend the substance and scope of the practice of which I’m prosecuted for. The captors are not only interested about your imprisonment, they are especially interested when you are a political subject, in a statement of renouncement or repentance. The capitulation to the oppressors and the admission to a futile struggle are elements that do not suit us. I came out untouched from their penitentiaries and the factories of manufacturing repentants. I belong to the proud generation that does not apologize in the courts, does not speak to security forces and does not bow the head in the prison courtyards. In the generation that knows how to honor their dead and punish their enemies.

- According to police leaks, you belong to the “Bandits in Black No. 2” (fictional anarchist-terror-bankrobbery group created by mainstream media) What is your answer?

That i belong to the “Bandits in Black No. 3” But do not tell anyone …

- Couldn’t the reaction of the youth be expressed within the official Left parties? What is your opinion on this specific ideological movement?

The leftist regime can no longer inspire the larger sections of the youth. For the same reasons as the official trade unions can no longer manipulate the workers. Pieces of the youth realize that the right to life, is not begged for with votes and peaceful protests or complaints and convictions. The message of the youth that rose up in December was clearer than any political doublespeak: “If you don’t respect us, you will fear us.” The role of the leftist regime will be proven particularly dangerous in the period that will follow. Because I believe that as an alternative apologist of the regime will help alleviate social contradictions, since the practices it chooses are delineated within the framework of the existing legitimacy and the commitment to parliamentarianism.

-Your father is a member of SYRIZA. (greek left wing political party) What is your opinion about politicians?

Personally, I grew up in a warm environment, full of books, political files, a place infused with the values and traditions of the left political culture. My father to me is a benchmark in terms of morals and values as a man.

-Do you believe that your father is one of those responsible for the current situation of the country?

As grateful as I am to my father for the way he raised me, equally my political beliefs do not allow me to exclude him of the politically responsible for the current political situation of the country. The leftist regime has its own responsibilities for what we are experiencing today.

-What message would you send him from inside prison?

With my father i have a very strong relationship, a strong personal contact and see each other regularly on visiting hours.

-Michalis Chrisohoidis (minister of protection of the citizen, ex ministry of public order) is considered a very successful minister. What is your opinion about him?

“We have war,” he has declared. Beyond that, this war is not about a vendetta between cops and anti-authoritarians as deliberately presented by representatives of the regime, to spread confusion and to separate the whole of society from a war that eventually involves them and touches them directly. Bosses and oppressed, dead workers in LARCO, in Corinth Pipework, in the ship repair zone of Perama, guards with bats and prisoners in the dungeons, torturing psychiatrists and human experiments in blue cells, sadistic prosecutors and convicts sentenced to a life of suffering. Police murderers, young people and immigrants packed into the cells and police vans. In democracy there are torturers, but its so smart that it gives other definitions to the crimes it commits. Because how else can you describe those who committed crimes for two months on the mind, body and soul of fighter Savvas Xiros (imprisoned for participation in the revolutionary group “17th November”) in “Evangelismos” hospital after the bomb exploded in his hands? If we consider success synonymous with effectiveness regardless of the methods used to reach the ultimate goal, then the minister to protect the snitches is a successful minister. The problem is that society should understand that nowadays success is synonymous with cannibalism, self-interest and personal ambition. That to be successful you should not have morals, you should be a liar, you should sell your soul to the devil, or rather the Americans.

-Tell us about your detention conditions, about your life in prison.

Life inside a prison is quite routinized. When I entered prison, I received a letter from a very good friend and comrade, former prisoner, stating that the prison is a revolutionary’s monastery. Nervously and clumsy, I replied that prison is bullshit and that we should get out of here as quickly as possible. Three years after my imprisonment I understood the true meaning of his words. Prison is a place away from the mundane, which allows you to reconstruct yourself. It’s a test that if you come out untouched you’re a winner. The strengthening of personal faith in the struggle and boost of revolutionary self-esteem is a reward that cannot be earned even with all the money in the world. Deeper meanings for higher ideals.

- Your court of Appeals is on June 7th. If you got out today how would you choose to live?

While I’ve been here I haven’t planned my life outside. I try to be vigilant every day, to be in a physical and mental alertness. I live the present as intense as possible and when the door opens, I will look at the future.

      – “I do not regret my action but i would not do it again because the personal weight for me, my family, friends and my comrades is enormous,” you said. Is this a sign of remorse?

The appeal of the prosecutor on the existing sentence of eight years imprisonment imposed on me at the first trial is an order that was given by high ranks, police and judicial leadership. I am in prison for almost three years accused of bank robbery. Those who have the audacity to ask me to regret for the expropriation of stolen social wealth are the main responsible for the systematic terrorizing of the Greek society. Because for me, terrorism is the bank that seizes homes and the predatory interest rates. Terrorism is working all your life for the bosses and then they take your salary and pension. Terrorism is living with the stress of survival. Terrorism is trying to lie to convince the goodness of the dictatorship of the I.M.F. (international monetary fund) I do not regret my action, but the reason why I would not choose the practice of robbery has to do with my personal development as a person and the priorities I have from now on in my life.

“Mitie national headquarters in Emersons Green were visited. 43 windows smashed. Mitie bosses make money from the recession. They are parasites on councils, the public and their own workers who are exploited. To the Mitie workers we say our battle is not against you. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. We sympathise with the workers who were made redundant. To the Mitie bosses we say feeling nervous, under attack and unsure of the future? Welcome to Precarity.

There will be more visits.

Two Mitie vehicles were visited in Staple Hill and Lockleaze. Tyres punctured, windscreens smashed and bodywork damaged. This was done for the same reasons.”

This statement was released by them several days ago, but so far has not been published, only circulated on mailing lists..

Second major statement from detainees

—

Unlawful Detention of Detainees (Tuesday 03 August 2010)

We appreciate all the effort and support we have received.

Today we continue to fight for our rights, today, all we detainees will continue to fight for liberty and security which is our fundamental rights.

It is unbelievable that a country so great that advocates human rights and liberty, eradicated slavery still practice such inhumane treatment of humans with equal rights in its backyard with the expectation that the whole world would be unaware of these treacherous nature adhered by the institutions.

Today we raise our voices until liberty is ours. Over 140 detainees have maintained the decision not to feed and sleep until our lives and the lives of our families are restored.

Until this moment, we have not been contacted by the UK Border Agency or Immigration in respect to our protest. The onsite immigration have hidden away and refused to engage in any communication or dialogue. This is evidently a sign of weakness by UKBA and an acceptance that our cry is for a good reason.

We read that in media that we have vending machines and onsite medical services. It is evident that the Immigration is not in touch with fundamental issues we are facing. Our lives are at risk, we have no freedom or liberty, we are been tortured, yet Immigration speaks about vending machine. These are malicious claims in an attempt to deny or play down the gravity of our determination. Can any vending machine feed 140 people?

Our lives and liberty should be considered like the rest of the 6 billion humans in the world. Our families are undergoing pain, our cases should be reviewed frequently, our detention should be justifiable, we should be given time for adequate judicial proceedings, we should not be detained indefinitely.

In July 2010 Honourable Justice Silber ruled that the fast-track policy was “unlawful and must be quashed”, however, the UK Border Agency still indulge in the fast track policy which is against the ruling of Honourable Justice Silber.

We put this question to all. Can it ever be justifiable for any organisation, institution or country to detain any human being with family (wife and children) for 3 years with?

We are also aware that there is a possibility that our efforts will be suppressed and not channelled to the appropriate body or government, however, we will continue to fight with everyday.

We all would humbly request that the parliament and cabinet address our heartily concerns as our wives, children, and we detainees are all dying, very slowly.

Tonight, we would all sleep outside on the grass floor and would refuse to sleep indoors. We deserve to be heard and until such time, we fight.

In spite of all, it is our believe that people are good at heart and should be given a right to life.

Our humble selves – Detainees
On behalf of all detainees
