Tsutomu Shirosaki, 67, is a Japanese national who was imprisoned as a political prisoner in the United States. He was accused of being a member of the Japanese Red Army and participating in several attacks, including a mortar attack against a U.S. embassy. Shirosaki was freed on 16 January 2015, and the U.S. Justice Department had been taking procedures to deport him to Japan, which has long wanted him for arrest. Tokyo police arrested Shirosaki immediately when he arrived today at Narita airport, as the Japanese State wants to get revenge for the legacy of the Japanese Red Army and to punish Shirosaki for his claim of responsibility of joining the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine when he was in Lebanon.
Tsutomu Shirosaki was born in 1947 in central Japan. In the 1960s, he went to Tokyo University, where he received a degree in engineering. It was during his college years, where Tsutomu began participating in the student movement, embracing a more left-wing philosophy. By the 1970s, Shirosaki participated in various underground activities, including a string of bank and post office robberies. These actions were fund-raising activities for Japanese radical groups. But in 1971, Shirosaki was arrested in Tokyo and sentenced to ten years in prison for an attack on a Bank of Yokohama branch office. Read the rest of this entry »
Mutlu Civiroglu interviews YPG Commander Mahmud Berxwedan
After liberating the city of Kobane, you began operations to liberate villages. What is the situation on the eastern, western and southern fronts? How far have you reached?
Mahmud Berxwedan: After liberating Kobane, we started a second advance. Since that day, approximately 20 days have passed. Within this time period, we carried out our operations successfully. Day by day, we are moving forward on all three fronts. We are liberating the land around Kobane bit by bit. On the western front, we have reached the point where we made close contact with ISIS on September 15th, we are somewhere near Shexler, there are 3-4 kilometers between us and the Euphrates. Around here, there are a small number of villages that are not yet under our control. Our operations are still ongoing around the villages of Kechelo, Jabalfaraj, Sevalo and Derbazin, and we will recapture these villages one by one. Read the rest of this entry »
Above: Kurdish joint forces intensify anti-ISIS operations in Syria.
On Wednesday, the Kurdish joint forces (People’s Protection Units “YPG” and the Peshmerga) pounded locations of the Islamic State group (IS/ISIS) in the city of Jarablus, in northern Syria. The Kurdish forces launched rockets from the village of al-Bayadiya in the countryside of the Jarablus, targeting military units of IS. Speaking to ARA News in Jarablus, media activist Ali Mahmoud reported that more than six rockets hit IS strongholds in the city center and Safa neighborhood. No casualties were reported.
Nuha Mustafa, a teacher based in Jarablus, said that the Kurdish rockets caused a state of alert among IS militants, who started to move weapons from the targeted areas to other neighborhoods in the city.
“Civilians were trying to escape, but all roads were blocked by IS militants who were preparing for confrontations with the Kurdish forces,” said Mustafa. Read the rest of this entry »
I am writing this text to critically evaluate the struggle we carried out, as it is an important legacy that needs to be analysed so that we can use it as a strategy compass for the hard days ahead.
The State, aware of the political defeat it suffered, is counter-attacking on other fronts of the struggle, so the continuation of a coordination based on specific agreements is necessary. Not only as a defensive battle position but as a conscious possibility of re-entering the chessboard with assertion as some comrades have rightly said.
During the hunger strike the State weighed up what the political cost of my possible extermination would be; the more the multi-form solidarity movement strengthened, the more the State changed its rhetoric. In brief we can say that the chameleons of government policies changed colour four times. From provocative indifference to superiority, then to a show of power, followed by panic. But let me be more specific. Read the rest of this entry »
On February 14 there will be an event in the Museo de la Tolerancia [museum of tolerance] that aims to raise money for political prisoners and anarchists.
Being in prison we have little information about the event.
We don’t know who is organizing it, but we know our names appear on the list of prisoners for whom the event is done.
We wanted to clarify that it seems strange that people we do not know and with whom we do not share affinities are using our names without notifying us. That we’re in jail doesn’t mean we have no voice. These acts of solidarity where all prisoners are mixed make us think of the blind recuperation of imprisoned people. Whether they are “Political” or “Anarchists”. Since the beginning, we always remained firm in our positions and ruptures. It seems rather strange to see our names beside those of Brian Reyes, Jacqueline Santana and Jamspa at a public event of solidarity. Perhaps their intention is to build relationships between different bands of people. That we understand, but we also know that there are reasons for this lack of relationship. There are very different methods and intentions and probably irreconcilable schisms. Read the rest of this entry »
ROJAVA, Kobanê, Feb 18, 2015 – The resistance against the occupation attempts of Daesh (ISIS) terrorists in Kobanê, which has reached the initial stage of victory, continued Feb. 17 on day 156.
As part of the second phase of Campaign Kobanê Liberation, members of the People’s Defense Units (YPG) along with the Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) are persistently continuing their operations around the city of Kobanê. Rapidly advancing in the rural area of the city, our forces continue to carry out constant operations against the terrorist-occupied villages and points there.
Our units last night launched an operation against 6 terrorist-occupied villages in west Kobanê.
The villages of Bîreloz, Sêv Elî, Derbenov, Derbazina Mezin, Derbazina Navîn and Derbazina Horan were effectively liberated from terrorist forces through quick task processes. And in this way, our units have managed to reach and retake their positions of the time prior to the terrorist attacks since 15th September 2014. Read the rest of this entry »
YPJ Commander Azime Deniz who talked about the second wave of operations said victory in Kobanê was close and that they would soon give the good news of the liberation of the entire lands of the Kobanê Canton.

YPG/YPJ (People’s/Women’s Defense Units) fighters launched a second wave of operations to liberate the villages of Kobanê on 27 January, one day after the town centre was cleansed of ISIS gangs as a result of 134-day historic resistance to the attacks of ISIS gangs that first started on 15 September. A number of villages on the western, eastern and southern fronts of Kobanê have been liberated so far as part of the ongoing operations, as YPG/YPJ continue forcing the ISIS gangs to withdraw with heavy losses.
YPJ Commander Azime Deniz who talked about the second wave of operations said victory in Kobanê was close and that they would soon give the good news of the liberation of the entire lands of the Kobanê Canton.
‘Gangs fleeing to the Turkish border’
Deniz recalled that they have seized strategic points that could pose a danger over the city, and the surrounding villages in the first days of the second operation which was started soon after the liberation of Kobanê town centre thanks to the self-sacrificing spirit of the fighters. When we write this it is a little over a week since the Kobanê Canton’s defense forces, YPG and YPJ, declared victory in Kobanê.
The victory means a lot for the Kurds. The city’s resistance has become a symbol in the resistance against ISIS, whom the Kurds call Daesh. Daesh is an abbreviation of ISIS but is similar to the Arabic ”daes” which means to trample or crush. It is used in this context derogatorily of ISIS and removes ISIS’ right to name themselves. The fascists of ISIS have banned the word in the areas they control and they take it so seriously that those that use it are threatened with having their tongues cut out.
Many have asked themselves how the Kurds have been able to beat back Daesh. The fight against Daesh has been undertaken with substandard military equipment. Many quickly point out that YPG/YPJ have had assistance from an international coalition that has been performing airstrikes against Daesh. That is in itself not a reasonable explanation to how the victory was achieved in Kobanê as the bombing did not live up to the expectations. When the bombing began in October many thought the victory was close but it took another near four months before victory could be declared. The answer for the question how the Kurds could beat Daesh in Kobanê must be sought elsewhere. Read the rest of this entry »
In the protracted saga of the US State’s victimisation of the Angola 3, the Attorney General’s office has decided to indict him for a third time for the 1972 murder of Louisiana State Penitentiary prison guard Brent Miller. Albert, who has spent more than 40 years in solitary confinement, has had his conviction overturned three times, yet the State continues not to admit defeat and release him. Just as with his comrade Herman Wallace, who was released on October 1, 2013, suffering from terminal cancer was re-indicted two days later but died on October 4, 2013 before he could be re-arrested, they want him to die in prison come what may.

16 Feb 2015 - The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported that People’s Protection Units (YPG) forces have captured a hill inside the administrative boundaries of Raqqa, which is controlled by ISIS gangs.
One of the most reliable sources on the Syrian conflict, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported that YPG forces have seized Baghdak Hill in the province of al-Raqqa and Jareqli Hill in the southwest of the city. The YPG is being supported by the brigade of al-Raqqa rebels and the battalions of Shams al- Shamal in the Kobane countryside.
The most intensive clashes since the liberation of Kobane on 26 January have taken place according to the human rights organisation, resulting in the death of 35 ISIS gang members and 4 YPG fighters.
These details were also corroborated by the statement from the YPG Press Centre. The statement also claimed that 18 ISIS members were captured alive. Read the rest of this entry »

The poverty of Guarantism [defence of civil-liberties]
I haven’t written much over these six months because I don’t want to be a prisoner that bombards the web and specialized magazines with letters.
I wrote a short communique in which I explained how prison certainly wouldn’t mellow my revolutionary pride, I had refused any use of social services [offered me] and asked the many and multiform universe of people who are in solidarity with me not to fall into the trap of victimization.
I am writing again because I heard about some texts that have apparently circulated in the internet and in the paper Il Garantista, in which I am described as no less than a “pacifist”, “scared to death”, etc. First of all I want to point out that this attitude is insulting to me and my comrades who struggle every day without ever fearing the threat of repression. Second, it is totally pointless: the State spies on us incessantly, listens to our conversations, photographs us and films us as we clash with its servants in the streets. In other words, to think that some late form of disguise could spare me months in prison is mere utopia, and not very dignified. Read the rest of this entry »

Isolation, disciplinary reports, and protests in the AS2 section of Ferrara prison:
On February 13th, having spoken to one of the imprisoned comrades in the high security section of Ferrara prison over the telephone, we learned that Alfredo Cospito was punished with isolation, following an altercation with a guard. The measure of punitive isolation (article 14-bis of the penitentiary regulation) was put in place two days ago, while another comrade in the AS2 section has received a disciplinary report for the same incident with the screw. The other prisoners protested against what happened, and intend to continue their protest until the isolation of Alfredo is suspended.
On February 14th, Alfredo was hurriedly moved to another section of Ferrara prison, where he has no contact with other prisoners —neither with those in the AS2 wing, nor with inmates in others sections. The other comrades held in the special wing have their sociability suspended and are banned from meeting each other.
The looks that embraced darkness, are lit only by the fire that envelops your aging world.
Another smear campaign by domination against the anarchist insurgents of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, has been completed. The state, in excellent cooperation with the benevolent consciences of reputable citizens and other honest revolutionaries, tried to isolate our comrades by hiding their desire to win freedom and by putting them in the same bag with what justice calls common crime.
This cowardly campaign of the state, aims not only to isolate the CCF members from the honest social ‘revolutionary’ circles, but also to distort the importance of insurrection as the supreme act of war against the existent completely by connecting it with the informal mirror of the state, the mafia. Short statement (in English) from Todd, a member of Sosyal Isyan (Social Rebellion) who are part of Birleşik Özgürlük Güçleri (United Liberation Forces) – the international anarchist & communist guerillas defending Kobane.
Kobanê,- The continuing defense against terrorist attacks of Daesh (ISIS) continued Jan 30 in Kobanê, on the 138th day of resistance. Following the Campaign to Liberate Kobanê, our forces of the People’s Defense Units (YPG) and Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) are consistent in their movements in the countryside of Kobanê.
After liberation of Kobanê city on Jan 26, our units speedily targeted the terrorist groups positioned in villages around Kobanê. Our forces continue to make progress in the rural area of the city where several villages were liberated from terrorist forces last night on the southern and western front. In the operations conducted yesterday, the villages of Shikeft, Dolê, Siftek, (and three small villages) were entirely liberated from terrorist forces. A large number of terrorist members were killed during these operations but initial reports could not confirm any specific number, 2 AK-47 rifles were seized in this region.
In the morning hours of today, Jan 31, our units of the YPG/YPJ carried out an operation in the village of Îdiq, 7 kilometers south Kobanê on the road to Aleppo. In this village our forces led a swift military operation, targeted terrorist groups, and were able to inflict severe blows to terrorist forces. Heavy clashes between our units and terrorist affiliates are currently ongoing in the mentioned village, 11 members of terrorist forces have been confirmed killed to this moment. International revolutionary solidarity with anarchist companera Sol F. Vergara (Chile)
Our dear companera Sol was pointed out by power and accused of the attack on the miserable Banco Estado security guard Rolando Vargas Fuentes, in which 4 bullets were fired as a gesture of revenge for the murderous shots that another of his colleagues fired at the anarchist companero Sebastian Overluij, which slew him. Pola Roupa, Nikos Maziotis, Kostas Gournas are imprisoned anarchist comrades in Greece who have taken responsibility, as well as of slain comrade Lambros Foundas, of membership of the Revolutionary Organisation - Revolutionary Struggle. Their actions and their articulate anarchist analysis of capitalism and their high hopes for social revolution press a question to each reader who is ready to rebel and embrace their freedom. On 24 October 2011 their trial began. You can find updates about the process translated into English here and here. Update: N. Maziotis was captured after an armed clash with police in Athens. P.Roupa and their baby-son, Victor Lambros are still in clandestinity. Find further news here.
"This pamphlet is a meeting point of comrades from all over the world. An imaginary meeting since the walls and bars of the prisons where we are temporarily keep our bodies hostage. But our meanings remain free, escape from the cells of prison and are expressed with words continuing to provoke authority.
Words that still smell of fire and gunpowder, words which carry with them all of our hate for the system, words unrepentant and armed, words which transfer stresses and desires, words which break the isolation of prison, words full of passion for the mutiny we want to continue, words from Chile, Mexico, America, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Bulgaria, Indonesia..."CCF
