Read the rest of this entry »

Chapter 3 of the book RADICAL PEACE: People Refusing War
By William T. Hathaway
Merna al-Marjan is a young Iraqi who is currently in Germany studying European history. We talked in her dormitory room, a spartan but functional cubicle in a building that embodies a hopeful change in European history: it was constructed in the nineteenth century as an army barracks but now houses university students. That’s progress.
On Merna’s small table sat a pot of peppermint tea and a plate of baklava. She’s short and plump with smooth skin the color of clover honey and deep anthracite eyes; she was wearing a long skirt of light cotton, a long-sleeved blouse, and a green paisley headscarf.
Hathaway: “Headscarves have become a controversial item of clothing here in Germany.”
Al-Marjan: “Yes, you can’t teach in the schools if you wear one. It’s OK for a teacher to wear a Christian crucifix but not a Muslim headscarf. I didn’t wear a hijab in Iraq, but I’ve started doing it here to show solidarity. It’s ridiculous to ban an article of clothing, a simple piece of cloth. What sort of freedom is that? To our brothers, comrades, relatives, loved ones and people in solidarity with us, to the public.
In 54/53 (Nataly / Juan, Guillermo) days from the beginning of our hunger strike, on Friday, June 5, we end our mobilization, which was a response to the repressive maneuvers power unleashed this time against us, against our emotional and solidarity environment. We decided to stand on our feet and to publicize our situation, without letting the designs of power to realized, which through legal/police/media/ suppressive tricks seeks to perpetuate isolation, silence and absolute submission. We decided to mobilize through a joint decision, a horizontal agreement, far from levels and hierarchies, which the lovers of power and the law seek to replicate in each and every group of people. It is the most dignified way of being in this world of bowed heads and prizes for any kind of boss. Read the rest of this entry »

Police in the UK are allowed to question anyone entering/leaving the country about “terrorism” – without the right to silence. We have spoken to a number of anarchists who have been questioned under these powers, known as “Schedule 7″. Because of a lack of information on the law, most of those stopped have given more information than they had to. This includes people from outside of the UK who have not even heard of “Schedule 7″ before. For this reason, we strongly recommend any anarchists travelling to/from the UK read our briefing beforehand – http://bristolabc.wordpress.com/defendant-solidarity/resources-and-advice/schedule-7/.
If you have been questioned under “Schedule 7″, please contact the Network for Police Monitoring, so they can keep track of how the police are using this power. Website: http://netpol.org; Email: info (at) netpol.org
As you might have already heard through the media our YPG comrade and friend Keith Lewis Broomfield- Kurdish Nom de guerre Gelhat Rumet- of Massachusetts was martyred on June 3 in a battle in the Rojava village of Qentere in Kobane. He is a first American YPG fighter martyr from Rojava.
Keith joined the YPG on the 24th of February 2015. The brave American warrior came to Kobane because he could not lean back and watch the atrocity’s which were committed by ISIS. He felt very connected to the Kurdish people and was a very generous and freedom loving person. So one day our brave warrior Keith decided to make his way to Rojava and to join the fight with the YPG. He booked his flight from the United States and joined the cause.
Keith’s generosity could be seen in his visits to the refugee camp of Suruc and his desire to help the poor Children which are growing up in such a dangerous environment. Read the rest of this entry »
An individual has been prosecuted who is suspected to be responsible for the publication of an article on IAATA.info, a collaborative and antiauthoritarian website in Toulouse. Informing people about police repression is a right and a necessity : that is why you find here a solidarity statement that denounces the criminalization and intimidation of the free independent media.
On Thursday March 7th, the corporate media announced that an individual from Toulouse was prosecuted by the State for a “public provocation to commit a crime or a felony”. S/he is alleged to be an “admin” of IAATA.info, an antiauthoritarian website based in Toulouse. Read the rest of this entry »
11th June will be a day of international solidarity with Marius Mason and all long term anarchist prisoners, another occasion for dedicating them our time and thoughts and for carrying on the struggle together with them.
This year’s day of international solidarity is entitled “Transition: the struggle is not over“, and is also in support of Eric McDavid, released in January after 9 years of
imprisonment, and of Marius’ gender change.
On the same day the preliminary hearing of the trial against Silvia, Costa and Billy will be held in Turin. The comrades are once again on trial for the events following which they already served years in-prison in Switzerland: the charge of attempted sabotage on the IBM nanotechnology research centre of Zurich. According to a statement posted by the comrades from the website Coordinadora Anticarcelaria La Fuga, Nataly, Juan and Guillermo decided to end their hunger strike 53 days since it began – this would have occurred on Friday June 7th.
Recall that the comrades have already won two of their major demands from the authorities – the removal of Nataly from solitary confinement and the release from prison of their comrade Enrique Guzmán*.
In the coming days the three comrades will release a communique regarding their situation and explaining their reasons for ending the hunger strike.
Solidarity with Nataly, Juan, Guillermo and Enrique!
* During the morning of June 10th, the competent court of San Miguel ruled in favor of prosecutor Orellana, who revoked the total house arrest for Enrique and demanded he be once again sent to pretrial detention.
A growing mood of angry defiance of the capitalist system has been in evidence on the streets of the UK in recent weeks.
The latest instance took place in Brighton on Saturday June 6, where a large anti-austerity protest in the city culminated in the storming of the former Barclays bank at Preston Circus. Read the rest of this entry »
Repubblica Ceca, 28 aprile 2015: scatta l’operazione Fenix. Decine di compagni inquisiti, undici compagni arrestati, di cui tre tuttora in carcere accusati di aver pianificato alcune azioni dirette. Here in Germany two communist prisoners from Turkey, who had been sentenced according to the “antiterror-paragraph §129b”, achieved victories by means of long hungerstrikes: Sadi Özpolat starved 43 days and Gülaferit Ünsal 54 days. They fought against censorship, prison clothing and intimidation. They didn’t fight in the prison alone. Together with Gülaferit 6 other prisoners starved as well in solidarity.
Taken from one of our speeches (“Network of all political prisoners”, Hamburg) in front of the Berlin prison, where Gülaferit is jailed: (29.5.2015)
“This is a draconic assault to all prisoners. More than 100 yearly commit suicide, living under similar conditions as Gülaferit, without any hope and unwilling to vegetate isolated anymore.”
9 political prisoners of armed groups like RAF, who organised collective resistance against such conditions, didn’t survive in prison in the seventies and eighties. Read the rest of this entry »

Haringey Solidarity Group and Kurdistan Anarchists Forum
June 3, 2015
First of all, I should mention a couple of issues in Kurdistan of Turkey (Bakur) that are strongly connected to the subject. Between 08/05 and 22/05/15 I visited a number of big towns in Bakur, including: Amed (Diyarbakir), Van, Colemerge (Hakari) and Gavar. Later I returned to Suruc and was hoping to cross the border to Kobane.
My main purpose for visiting there were three important points: First: understanding the similarity and differences between the Democratic Self Administration (DSA) in Bakur and Rojava. Second: Reconstruction of Kobane, and Third: the type of economy that Rojava can have in the future. Although the friends in Peoples Democratic Party (HDP), other organisations and the Working Committees of Rojava in Amed and Suruc tried hard to arrange my trip to Kobane but it did not happen. On June 1 we got the great news that three of the five comrades being held in preventive detention, accused of being part of a terrorist group under Operation Piñata (including one who was already arrested and imprisoned in Operation Pandora) are being released without bail. They still have all their charges and have to sign in frequently at court, and two of them are prohibited from leaving the country.
Operation Pandora was launched in December in Catalunya, and Operation Piñata on March 30 all across the Spanish state but focused in Madrid. The operations resulted in the arrests of 26 anarchist comrades (plus the arrests of over a dozen more for resisting the raid on a social center) on anti-terrorism charges, the raids of dozens of houses and social centers, the theft of cash, and the seizure of computers, harddrives, phones, etc. Read the rest of this entry »
5 June 2015, Athens - Christodoulos Xiros, ex-member of the Revolutionary Organisation 17 November, who is facing charges for participation in the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire escape attempt that was foiled in January by the Greek authorities, denied to answer any questions from the judicial apparatus and made a political statement.
In his brief political statement, Xiros expressed his views and called on the examining magistrate Eftihis Nikopoulos and everyone that he works for to apologize themselves.
Part of his statement read: “I have nothing to say to mechanisms that support the occupation forces and their local collaborators. You and those you serve should apologize to the people and history.”

International revolutionary solidarity with anarchist companera Sol F. Vergara (Chile)
Our dear companera Sol was pointed out by power and accused of the attack on the miserable Banco Estado security guard Rolando Vargas Fuentes, in which 4 bullets were fired as a gesture of revenge for the murderous shots that another of his colleagues fired at the anarchist companero Sebastian Overluij, which slew him. See also here.
Pola Roupa, Nikos Maziotis, Kostas Gournas are imprisoned anarchist comrades in Greece who have taken responsibility, as well as of slain comrade Lambros Foundas, of membership of the Revolutionary Organisation - Revolutionary Struggle. Their actions and their articulate anarchist analysis of capitalism and their high hopes for social revolution press a question to each reader who is ready to rebel and embrace their freedom. On 24 October 2011 their trial began. You can find updates about the process translated into English here and here. Update: N. Maziotis was captured after an armed clash with police in Athens. P.Roupa and their baby-son, Victor Lambros are still in clandestinity. Find further news here.
"This pamphlet is a meeting point of comrades from all over the world. An imaginary meeting since the walls and bars of the prisons where we are temporarily keep our bodies hostage. But our meanings remain free, escape from the cells of prison and are expressed with words continuing to provoke authority.
Words that still smell of fire and gunpowder, words which carry with them all of our hate for the system, words unrepentant and armed, words which transfer stresses and desires, words which break the isolation of prison, words full of passion for the mutiny we want to continue, words from Chile, Mexico, America, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Bulgaria, Indonesia..."CCF
The so-called "Security Case" concerns our revolutionary comrades Juan Aliste Vega, Marcelo Villarroel Sepulveda, and Freddy Fuentevilla Saa, who are currently held captive in prisons of the Chilean State. Some background info. See also here.
