June 11, 2015 : TRANSITION : The struggle’s not over…
The last year has been full of changes and transitions for our imprisoned comrades and for those of us engaged in struggle on the other side of the walls. Now, solidly in the throes of spring, we feel compelled to celebrate these transitions and victories as new life and energy burst forth all around us. It is not often that we get a chance to truly mix celebration and struggle – but now is one of those times! On January 8th of this year the Eastern District Court of California ordered Eric McDavid released from prison. Our comrade Marius came out publicly as a man and began seeking resources for his physical transition. We believe these are both transitions worthy of celebration and reason for continued struggle. It is in this spirit that we bring you our thoughts about J11 2015.
First, a bit of housekeeping: We have a new email address: june11th at riseup dot net! If you sent something to the old address, it is likely we did not receive it. We would love it if there were many translations of this callout and other support materials (many thanks to ContraInfo and others for supporting translation over the years)! Please send information about the June 11th events you are planning this year, posters, zines, and any report backs to june11th at riseup dot net. We are looking forward to hearing from you and will post events as we receive them at June11.org. Every year events happen in new cities, and we hope you’ll encourage your friends and comrades far and wide to join us this year. Read the rest of this entry »
On April 7, 2015 following a protest of 1.500 – 2.000 anarchists in the center of Athens, riots erupted in Exarchia to bring attention to a mass hunger strike of political prisoners taking place in Greece since March 2, 2015. At the moment (April 10) 8 anarchists still continue the hunger strike, some of them for the 40th day.
The political prisoners demand from the so-called left government of SYRIZA:
– Withdrawal of the special anti-terrorist legislation for political activists (laws 187A and 187)
– Withdrawal of the special repressive laws (“anti-hoodie” law)
– Abolition of the “C-type” prisons
– Delineation of the use and processing of DNA as legal.
– Immediate release of disabled prisoner “Savvas Xiros” (98% handicapped)
On April 5th 2015, anarchist prisoner Nikos Maziotis announced the end of his hunger strike. Below is his statement.
After 35 days of struggle, I terminate the hunger strike that I began on March 2nd along with other comrades. I have decided to do so not owing to the fact that I have reached the limits of my endurance but because I believe that, considering the developments regarding the requestive context, this fight has completed its cycle and has exhausted its potential, taking into account also the solidarity acts that have taken place. I have chosen to suspend the hunger strike now, after the justice ministry’s bill introduction, seeing no point in waiting at least 10 days until it’s voted on, after Easter has passed. I however remain extremely cautious over any modifications that the ministry is supposed to present in relation to the hoodie law or DNA legislation; because the government has already demonstrated how unreliable it is in fulfilling its proclamations. Comrades, I am writing these few lines to let you know about my present condition of life, which I have decided upon from a very particular perspective following a series of situations that have arisen in the recent context of individual and / or social struggle and the repression against it.
There is a long list of comrades who have been harassed and investigated for anarchist activity recently in this country, more specifically in the centre and the south, putting them under surveillance to observe their movements and the people with whom they organize, sending vile bastard informers to gather information, accusing foreign comrades of financing struggles and so on. Also at the time of the arrest that led me to prison with my comrades in affinity Amélie and Fallon, there was an attempt to link many people of the libertarian / anarchist milieu with our case (5E), upturning some houses to find “evidence” (without success) and thereby have more arguments to mount a serious blow within the anarchist scene. Eight anarchist prisoners of the Network of Imprisoned Fighters (DAK) are still on hunger strike in different hospitals and Greek prisons, demanding the abolition of type C maximum security prisons; abolition of the antiterrorist legislation (articles 187 and 187A); abolition of the anti-hoodie law; abolition of forcible taking of DNA samples, abolition of analysis of DNA samples that contain a mixture of genetic material from more than two individuals, access to DNA samples for analysis by a biology expert witness trusted by the accused; and the release of the polytrauma patient, 17N prisoner Savvas Xiros. According to the latest medical report, all comrades are in critical condition. Read the rest of this entry »
Today, anarchist hunger strikers are on the 38th day of hunger strike. The ongoing struggle targets all anti-insurrectional laws, which constitute the legal armor and the punitive arsenal of the democratic regime. A fight which concerns not only the imprisoned comrades but also anarchists outside prison who fight daily by all means against the enemy, as they are next on the application list of the repressive agenda.
The new government coalition with SY.RIZ.A. in its center, walks the traditional repressive path of social democracy, which has made the system’s assimilation and repression a science. Next to the targeted police and legal repression it puts a wide troupe of academics, artists, leftist journalists and other clowns who systematically slanders, distorts and degrades the struggle and its subjects. At the same time, this new caste of disgusting former PASOK and current SY.RIZ.A. voters that rushed like sheep to vote their new savior blurred from his leftist mirrors, participates like a fifth column in this slandering campaign.
Unlike the more blunt right-wingt system managers, the left government having grown in the core of petty politics (the left) is familiar with this game. So, while the ridiculous Panousis (who probably still bears a grudge against anarchists because of the “care” he had received from some comrades some years ago on this favorite academic step) makes grand, military press announcements, a part of the party apparatus (youth, civil rights movements, etc. ) has assumed the role of internal opposition and the maintenance of government links to the infamous movement which honored it with its votes.
This struggle, as the one during the strike of comrade Nikos Romanos, was an excellent opportunity to test the resilience and nature of anarchists in Greece, on several levels. Apart from the usual imaginary concept of “counter-information”, according to which those who two months ago elected the government of SY.RIZ.A. and the right-wing mob that was coiled by the New Republic, AN.EL. and Golden Dawn parties, would suddenly support anarchists and especially on an issue that does not concern them at all (there is not even half a social demand in this strike, only collateral benefits for various categories of criminal prisoners), the occupations that either ended up useless and problematic or tried to turn the struggle towards irrelevant directions (it’s the irony of life that during the period that this “class struggle-turn” started, in Chalkidiki. the metalworkers were beating the people opposed to the mines, on behalf of Bobolas(1)) and activism intended only to draw the attention of the media, there was also a major wave of violent actions and aggressive interventions across the country.
The only language the enemy understands, is the all-out and multi-form attack, with words and actions, against him. It is the language of the deconstruction of his ideological arsenal and the attack against his infrastructure. It is the texts, flyers, banners and posters, overflowing with hatred. It is the damaged vehicles and buildings, burnt cops, terrified judges and prosecutors and tattered streets in the center of the decaying metropolis.
So, at dawn of Wednesday 08/04, we placed an incendiary device at the entrance of the local youth offices of SY.RIZ.A. in Kessariani, a few blocks away from the local police station.
Let SY.RIZ.A., its politicians, its movement leeches and its sleeping voters know that the macho attitude of the winner deflates quickly, especially when the victory was achieved in a court that we neither played nor will ever play. For us, there is no hallowed leftist veil and historical self-worth which protects you. And if not anything else, we will always remember that you are the government because of which one of our comrades nearly died. You should wish for him to leave the hospital strong and standing.
We salute the comrades of FAI in Greece and abroad who participated actively in the struggle and also the rest of the anonymous or eponymous conspirators who went on the offensive in whatever way they chose to attack. Hopefully, this momentum will continue both in this struggle and in the many to come.
We wish a speedy recovery to the brothers of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire and Angeliki Spyropoulou and strength to the anarchist prisoners who are still on hunger strike. You are not alone.
The war continues

PS1: As we were informed by the mainstream media, the promised transfer of the police units that served as security details for high-profile targets progresses rapidly, and little by little, they are all gathered around the home of the Prime Minister. We, for our part, wish him the best. More empty streets for us.
PS2: Our warm congratulations to the anarchists who voted for SY.RIZ.A., we hope for them to have the dignity to refrain from the solidarity movement for the hunger strikers.
Translator note: Bobolas is one of the most powerful capitalists in Greece and a beneficiary from the exploitation of the earth’s plunder through mining in that area.

ACTION PLAN FOR AN INTERNATIONAL ANARCHIST COUNTER-ATTACK
“LET’S DESTROY REPRESSION”
Combative Anarchy claims responsibility for the attack against the central offices of Microsoft in Greece. The comrades who took part in the action, placed the incendiary device composed of gas canisters and gunpowder and safely left, humiliating the security measures of the building once again. Microsoft is a multinational colossus of the techno-industrial complex, one of the most powerful companies of its industry and inextricably linked to the political and economic system. The attack at the cutting edge of the capitalist domination in techno-science and its murderous tentacles means the attack against the mechanization of life itself. The revolutionary war is a basis around which the constant conflict with the existent is being built, an attempt for the total liberation of our lives from the chains of the state, the capital and their society, which expand to the space-time continuum as the oppressed ones rebel against their oppressors.
On March 2nd, anarchists and political prisoners started a hunger strike, targeting to fight against the repressive framework of the state, the counter-terrorism unit and the judges. At the same time, the imprisoned members of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire and anarchist Aggeliki Spyropoulou announced the beginning of the hunger strike until death, demanding the immediate release of their relatives, who were revengefully detained by the schemes of the police and judicial mafia. Today, with many comrades hospitalized in critical condition, with CCF comrade Mihalis Nikolopoulos being threatened by permanent physical damage, despite the victorious outcome of his organization’s fight, with the “left” managers of power having thrown the mask of humanism in the garbage, the anarchist fight should speed up the counter-attack and lead the state in retreat. The fight of our imprisoned comrades and the new facts on the social and political field, after the election of SY.RI.Z.A., should be evaluated in the direction of revolutionary development. The multiformity of experiences and the collective effort is the focus of this evaluation, which lays the foundation for the material formation of our anti-state conspiracy against power.
Now, it’s in our hands to project the strategic necessity of the anarchist urban guerrilla warfare, by sabotaging the operations of the social machine, blowing up the walls of apathy and releasing the rebellious intentions. Weaving on the thread between theory, action and target, continuing the solitary walking in the paths of freedom, with our minds firmly attached to all our comrades who are locked up in the cells of democracy. We have just started. We are planning sabotages, we are harassing the enemy, we are experimenting with methods and practices, we are organizing our generalized counter-attack against the world of power. This act of ours is a contribution to the comrades of Czech FAI/IRF suggestion, who burned a police car and suggested the creation of an international action project with the name “Let’s destroy repression”, modeled on the “Phoenix” Project.
Moreover, it is our contribution to the days of international solidarity with the imprisoned comrades in Chile. Comrades, this explosion was for you as well! Strength to the comrade Aggeliki Spyropoulou and the prison cell of the Conspiracy who, with their unyielding and victorious fight, will soon see their beloved ones free again. Quick recovery comrades, your perseverance is a source of inspiration for the subversive spirits of our times. Let our fire become a hearth of warmth for the anarchists of the Network of Imprisoned Fighters and the member of Revolutionary Struggle, Nikos Maziotis, who stopped the hunger strike before our text was released.

After the victorious hunger strike of the CCF, comrade Michalis Nikolopoulos has returned from the intensive care unit to his room on the 10th floor of Evangelismos hospital where he was before. During the night of hospitalization in the ICU, where he was moved for close monitoring due to the criticality of the situation, his pulse went down to 20 beats per minute(!) and his pressure to 6. The comrade escaped the immediate danger, his moral is good and according to doctors his heart manages to stabilize although everything was hanging by a thread. Still, he will remain in the hospital for several days, so that some more medical tests are made.
Mihalis was a step away from death and at the same time nothing is over, as the hunger strike of the other political prisoners continues while the state of their health IS deteriorating as they are now on the 35th day of the strike.
NO OTHER COMRADE OF US IN THE ICU!
IMMEDIATE SATISFACTION OF THE DEMANDS OF THE HUNGER STRIKERS
- Abolition of the counter-terrorism laws 187 and 187A
- Abolition of the “hood-law”
- Restriction on the use and proccessing of DNA as an evidence
About a month ago, the state of law and order, holding the mother of Christos and Gerasimos Tsakalos’ mother and the second one’s companion in custody, tried to send a message. It was one clear message: the exemplary punishment, as well as the projection of the failure and of the vanity of resistance, along with the reconfirmation of the myth of police and judicial mafia’s omnipotence. The target was the emotional exhaustion of the ones who refuse to capitulate and lay down arms, despite captivity, in the cells of democracy. The answer was prompt and clear. Staying forever at the other end of the spectrum, we will steadily be aggressively moving against you. This monotonous world order imposed by the slow and unlimber juridical logic, in front of which everything is razed, leaves me cold. The rebel refuses to accept the offered destiny, so we threw ourselves in the fire of battle, this time with our body as a weapon and death as enemy. Now, “Incapable of accepting the fate assigned to me, my highest perceptions outraged by this denial of justice, I refrain from adapting my existence to the ridiculous conditions of existence here below” (André Breton).
So, therefore, we went on a hunger strike, not choosing an abstract ideal out of emotional poverty and targeting to a bankrupt assertion, but demanding for what cannot be limited inside the idea for the human, to be taken into consideration and I, of course, talk about the emotional bonds which have no political extension. What is of importance, though, is not as much what one says or the way one formulates his own words, but the honesty included. That is to say the reliability of the one expressing them. From prison, watching your comrades flirting with death and while you yourself are exhausted, the dream has no borders and reality stands in the way of nothing. Through this death dance, intelligence loses in translucency what it wins in rage and stubbornness proves inexhaustible. With dignity as guide and consistency as fellow traveler, you keep fighting for them, for you, for the two people who pay the consequences of the choices that are not theirs.
Thus, after 32 days and as the mother of the comrades, as well as the girlfriend of the one of them are due for release, I also end the hunger strike. We gave this battle drawing invaluable strength from the polymorphous movement of solidarity, shaped outside the prison walls. The fiery glances of people who realized the exigency for action, which existed and still exists given that several political prisoners continue their struggle – warmed our hearts. This victory is as much ours as it is yours.
STRENGTH AND SOLIDARITY TO ALL THE HUNGER STRIKERS WHO UNRELENTINGLY CONTINUE UNTIL THE SATISFACTION OF THEIR DEMANDS
UNDER THE DEATH’S BLACK EDGE WE WILL CONQUER LIFE… LAUGHING.

A crack was formed in the prison wall during the eviction eve demo on 2nd April for Chiltern House, a building that has been occupied by squatters in solidarity with residents in the near abandoned Aylesbury estate, which is earmarked for demolition by Southwark council. A whole estate that is now surrounded by a wall & patrolled by private security* which is all part of the the forced but also self imposed prison society. As anarchists we see the Southwark council, just as our friends who are occupying the estate do, as part of the wave of gentrification that is sweeping vast parts of the capital urban hell, moulding the cityscape more to authoritarian control, pushing the excluded further to the outer reaches, out of sight, out of mind as they say!
We decided not to be part of the demonstration, instead lying in wait for our moment to attack, which presented itself in an empty cop van on the estate. Our rage was projected through the smashing of the vehicles windows just minutes after the pigs left it all on its own. The cops were attacked because they are just as much the screws of our daily existence in this prison island as any politician and security can be.
We will not wait to be evicted… instead we go on the attack!

DAK [Network of Imprisoned Fighters] – 35 Days of Struggle – Victory to the Hunger Strikers
Comrades inside the prison of Larissa raised a banner in solidarity with the hunger strikers who request the abolition of the “hoodie law”, abolition of type C prisons, abolition of antiterrorist laws, delimitation in the use and analysis of DNA, and the release of polytrauma patient Savvas Xiros.
Victory to the struggle of the hunger strikers
THE HUNGER STRIKE OF THE CONSPIRACY OF CELLS OF FIRE WAS VICTORIOUS
Today is a day that a crack in the walls of the imprisoned world around us has opened. After 32 days of hunger strike, the mother of Christos and Gerasimos Tsakalos and the girlfriend of the latter will soon pass the exit of prison, free again…
32 days of hunger strike, with eight comrades of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire being hospitalized, balancing between life and death. Mihalis found himself in the ICU the last few days, Olga has reached 40 kilos, Panagiotis had an already compromised health from previous surgeries on his head, George P. has a problem with his heart, with his heart-beats reaching 30 and all of them had medical measurements indicating that they lost 15-20% of their initial body weight.
32 days, the hunger strike became a daily, slow torment of death, in order for us not to make truce with the absolute death of emotional blackmail. An insidious blackmail which authority wanted to impose on us by abducting and keeping our relatives as hostages in prison. 32 days of hunger strike, every fading beat of our heart, reminded us of the promise we made together when we met for the last time, “Let’s go, until freedom …”.
After 32 days of hunger strike, the shadow of repression grew pale, the walls of captivity lowered and prison admitted defeat.
This victory is not only the result of the hunger strike of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire. It’s a victory of a whole world of solidarity, with arson attacks, occupations, sabotage, marches, gatherings, unexpected interventions, which broke the social peace, turned cities into fields of insurrectional moments and occupied buildings into living labs of subversive situations. In an everyday life where the desire for freedom has been suspended indefinitely, life flooded with little and large gestures of liberation, with fires, with slogans and sparkling eyes of persons who wore hoods.
We are flooded with many thoughts that want to fill with words the corresponding meanings. But now, there is neither a day for celebration, nor for accounts of victory. Today we stop the hunger strike, having beaten the scarecrows of authority who wanted our relatives in prison, BUT at the same time, the hunger strike of the remaining political prisoners, for the overall requests that have been set, continues. The days that follow are critical both for their health and for the total wager of anarchist struggle. Therefore, there is no time neither for relaxing, nor for victory celebrations. The die was cast a long time ago… We, as the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, remain on the ramparts and prepare our counter-attack, supporting the struggle conducted within and outside prison.
Authority and it’s scarecrows should know that every judicial coup, every jail, every moment of oppression, every lie of propaganda, every shade of bourgeois morality will return back to its instigators and owners, with multiple power and vehemence. With the power and vehemence of sabotage, fire, explosion, execution… In war, we answer with war. Time for us to attack first…
STRENGTH AND SOLIDARITY with anarchist comrade Nikos Maziotis. member of R.S., and the Network of Fighting Prisoners
VICTORY TO THE STRUGGLE OF THE HUNGER STRIKE
Residents of the Od:zysk Squat send warm regards and words of support for our comrades from the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire who carry on the hunger strike. Your struggle against the capitalist state regime is exemplary. It exposes its totalitarian nature. When threatened, the so-called „democratic” state takes off its liberal mask and moves towards methods such as torture and repression against the militants family members who are not directly involved in the struggle.
We believe that the strike will soon end up with success.
LET ALL PRISONS AND PRISONS AND POLICE STATIONS BURN!
SOLIDARITY IS OUR WEAPON!
The next day, CCF prisoner on hunger strike Michalis Nikolopoulos was admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit in extremely critical condition. The rest of the hunger striking comrades also find themselves facing life-threatening problems.
In the small hours of Friday, April 3rd, anarchists gathered at Evangelismos hospital in Athens, where Damiano Bolano and Michalis Nikolopoulos are being treated. The banner reads: “Not a step back – We break state terrorism in the streets”
On April 3rd, Evi Statiri (wife of CCF member Gerasimos Tsakalos) published an open letter asking the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire prisoners – including Angeliki Spyropoulou – to quit their hunger strike, and urging Athena Tsakalou to accept her release from prison. Below is an excerpt from Evi’s words:
“(…) From the first moment, Gerasimos and the rest of the people from the Organization Conspiracy Cells of Fire assumed the responsibility and emphasised that neither his mother nor I had any relation to the escape they were preparing.
When we were sent to pretrial detention, and despite our objections, these people went on hunger strike demanding our release from prison. Thirty three days later, I think that the legislative provision of the Ministry of Justice provides a solution to the just demand for my release. Knowing their critical health condition (M.Nikolopoulos is hospitalized in ICU, and there are serious health risks for all of them), I URGE them to stop the hunger strike. The moral weight of the damage they cause to themselves is unbearable to me, and the idea of death hovering over their lives overshadows my every thought. I also ask Gerasimos’ mother to accept her release, and it won’t be long until we share freedom instead of prison. (…)”
The recent wave of hunger strikes and other protests in UK migration prisons has subsided, as prisoners have been silenced, moved between prisons, and humiliated and beaten. This report from the Anti Raids Network is just one of many cases of how people are treated in detention centres and during deportation attempts.
Tahar Khalifa beaten by guards in an attempted deportation on Tuesday 31st March.
On Tuesday, 31st March, Tahar Khalifa, detained at Brook House detention centre [one of the two migration prisons inside the perimeter of Gatwick Airport], was forcibly removed from the centre in an attempted deportation to Tunisia, on flight TU791 at 1745hrs. As he was going up the stairs to the plane he was physically assaulted and beaten by the guards.
In a statement Tahar says that there were multiple officers trying to get him up the stairs; one was choking him, another was twisting his upper body. Tahar was handcuffed at the front and one officer was holding him by the wrist and pulling very hard. Read the rest of this entry »
We’re excited to announce the first issue of Wildfire, a new quarterly newsletter of anarchist prison struggle.
We have two goals with this project: to spread the words and actions of anarchist prisoners in the United States and to offer news and updates on anti-authoritarian struggle for comrades in prison who might not otherwise have access to this information.
Wildfire flows with our continued frustration with the state of anarchist prison solidarity in the United States: the lack of prisoners’ voices in our publications, the half-hearted solidarity shown toward captured fighters, the dead-end of “political prisoner” designation. It also flows from our long-term relationships with imprisoned comrades, the mutual affinity found in struggling together. Rather than complain and critique, we prefer to strike out in another direction, embodying our own vision of solidarity. We hope this publication can be a contribution to a more diverse, more combative, and stronger anarchist struggle against prison. Read the rest of this entry »

International revolutionary solidarity with anarchist companera Sol F. Vergara (Chile)
Our dear companera Sol was pointed out by power and accused of the attack on the miserable Banco Estado security guard Rolando Vargas Fuentes, in which 4 bullets were fired as a gesture of revenge for the murderous shots that another of his colleagues fired at the anarchist companero Sebastian Overluij, which slew him. See also here.
Pola Roupa, Nikos Maziotis, Kostas Gournas are imprisoned anarchist comrades in Greece who have taken responsibility, as well as of slain comrade Lambros Foundas, of membership of the Revolutionary Organisation - Revolutionary Struggle. Their actions and their articulate anarchist analysis of capitalism and their high hopes for social revolution press a question to each reader who is ready to rebel and embrace their freedom. On 24 October 2011 their trial began. You can find updates about the process translated into English here and here. Update: N. Maziotis was captured after an armed clash with police in Athens. P.Roupa and their baby-son, Victor Lambros are still in clandestinity. Find further news here.
"This pamphlet is a meeting point of comrades from all over the world. An imaginary meeting since the walls and bars of the prisons where we are temporarily keep our bodies hostage. But our meanings remain free, escape from the cells of prison and are expressed with words continuing to provoke authority.
Words that still smell of fire and gunpowder, words which carry with them all of our hate for the system, words unrepentant and armed, words which transfer stresses and desires, words which break the isolation of prison, words full of passion for the mutiny we want to continue, words from Chile, Mexico, America, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Bulgaria, Indonesia..."CCF
