May 29, 2013 – Day of International Solidarity with Anarchists Facing Repression in Bolivia

April 8th, 2013

Absolution for the May 29 defendants! No highway through TIPNIS! Freedom for all prisoners!

On May 29, 2012, 13 people were arrested by police in La Paz, Bolivia.
All of them were connected to anarchist participation in the defense of TIPNIS, an indigenous territory and national park. The 13 were accused of a series of arsons, bombings, and sabotage claimed by the Informal Anarchist Federation-International Revolutionary Front (FAI-FRI). The actions, occurring from September 2011 to May 2012, targeted government buildings, banks, car companies, fast food restaurants, supermarkets, and animal industries. Some of the attacks were claimed in solidarity with the struggle to defend TIPNIS, others in solidarity with comrades facing repression in Chile, others in support of animal liberation. Call to isolate ‘civil anarchist’ group ‘OARS – Anarchist Organization for Social Revolution’ (Bolivia)

April 8th, 2013

Note: For background information on this situation see these articles:

1. Anarchist Cell for Revolutionary Solidarity FAI/FRI on the recent repression
2. La Paz: Communiqué by Henry Zegarrundo, who is being held in pretrial detention in San Pedro prison
3. The May 29 Case in La Paz

This is a call-out to anarchists across the world, asking comrades to break all friendly relations with OARS, the Anarchist Organization for Social Revolution (La Paz, Bolivia).

The reasoning is simple: they are snitches, and they openly justify snitching as a part of their “social revolution.” After being arrested on May 29, 2012, four members of OARS snitched on other anarchists. Nine months later, two of the anarchists they snitched on are still being held in prison and one more is under house arrest (this third prisoner was rewarded with house arrest after also snitching). They are faced with the serious accusations of Terrorism and Attempted Murder. No evidence implicates any of the three, except for the testimony of OARS members (and later the testimony of the third detainee who snitched one month after OARS members claimed she was a terrorist). Excerpt from Theofilos Mavropoulos’ Statement at Session 1 (Friday, April 5) of Fourth CCF Trial (Greece)

April 8th, 2013

Received from This is our Job:

“As I’ve already stated during the previous trial and in the texts I’ve released over time, I stood beside my comrades in the Fire Cells Conspiracy as anarchist in solidarity, but without being a member of the Conspiracy.

From the first moment of my arrest, after exchanging gunshots with the pigs in Pefki, my comrades in the Conspiracy stood beside me as brothers and sisters. Inside prison, we have shared concerns, anxieties, and tensions. We forged our passion from steel—a passion for freedom—after the escape we attempted together in December 2011.

For me, right now the Fire Cells Conspiracy is already an inseparable part of my thinking, my desires, and my personal rebellion for anarchy. Therefore, here in these courts of yours, I declare that as of today I am joining the Fire Cells Conspiracy, and I share the endless path of anarchist insurrection together with the imprisoned members and those who haven’t been arrested….”

Anti-fascist Pavel Krivonosov from Nizhni Novgorod needs help! (Russia)

April 7th, 2013

Last autumn, a longstanding case against Nizhni Novgorod anti-fascists was returned to investigation, and for a while it seemed like a final victory (see http://avtonom.org/en/author_columns/background-nizhni-novgorod-victory). However, in contrary to these expectations, the case returned to court this spring and things do not look too good.

Pavel Krivonosov is one of the accused of the fabricated case. He is a social activist, a musician and anarchist. As the set-up has been going for a while, number of charges passed the statute of limitations and were tossed out from the court – political “extremist” charges included. However, he is accused still according to part 2 of the statute 213 of the Russian criminal codex (hooliganism committed with a group of people), which carries a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison. Athens – Revolutionary Struggle case: Five anarchists convicted in first instance (Greece)

April 6th, 2013

Information via Contra-Info. Also read the Oral declaration to the court by Pola Roupa, member of Revolutionary Struggle – October 24th, 2011.

On April 3rd, 2013 the judgment on the Revolutionary Struggle case was a slight improvement of the prosecutor’s proposal. The court’s decision on the Revolutionary Struggle case:

Defendants who have denied participation in the organization

- Acquittal of Marie Beraha, Sarantos Nikitopoulos and Kostas Katsenos of all charges (on benefit of doubt).

- Conviction of Vaggelis Stathopoulos and Christoforos Kortesis for alleged participation in the organization.

Admitted members of Revolutionary Struggle

- Acquittal of Nikos Maziotis, Pola Roupa and Kostas Gournas of the accusation of ‘directing a terrorist organization.’

- Conviction of Nikos Maziotis, Pola Roupa and Kostas Gournas for ‘simple synergy’ with the actions of Revolutionary Struggle (without a shred of evidence concerning their involvement in specific actions, but rather applying the Nazi principle of joint liability).

To sum up, Revolutionary Struggle member Nikos Maziotis was sentenced to 86 years’ imprisonment; his sentence was merged into 50 years. Revolutionary Struggle members Pola Roupa and Kostas Gournas were both sentenced to 87 years; each sentence was merged into 50 years and 6 months. For all three of them, the maximum prison term is 25 years (which are typically served either as a full sentence or by day wages in prisons, or after the completion of 3/5 of the prison term, when a prisoner can be granted conditional release under specific conditions).

Vaggelis Stathopoulos and Christoforos Kortesis were sentenced to 8 and 7 years’ imprisonment, respectively. The sentence against Vaggelis Stathopoulos was merged into 7 years and 6 months.

In addition, for all five convicted anarchists, the judges’ decision provided for deprivation of their political rights (5 years for the three admitted members of Revolutionary Struggle, and 3 years for the other two anarchists), as well as non-suspensive effect of appeal.

While Nikos Maziotis and Pola Roupa are on the run, Kostas Gournas, Vaggelis Stathopoulos and Christoforos Kortesis were immediately taken to prison. The militant slogans of the audience and the clenched fists of the three anarchist fighters were the last moments of the trial.

Solidarity with all anarchists imprisoned or persecuted by the Greek State! The battle for freedom is far from over.
Long live Revolutionary Struggle!

Greece: C.C.F. TRIAL UPDATE – Athens

April 6th, 2013

Translated by Actforfreedomnow/boubourAs

Session 34, March 21st.

In this session appeared again the head of the Anti-terrorist force who had organized most of the oppressive operations against the CCF. At some point of his testimony he mentioned there are publications which target him and members of his family, this is why he asked for the trial minutes in order to file lawsuits. Also, he mentioned once more that the CCF is a network of autonomous cells of direct action. More specifically he said that each cell can consist of 4-5 people, while he referred to a recent hit (the blowing up of an atm in order to expropriate it), the responsibility of which was claimed by the cell of FAI “lone wolf”.

Session 35, March 22nd.

In this session the head of the anti-terrorists testified about the arrests in Pireus, Nea smirni and Kallithea, about weapons and explosives.

Session 36, March 27th.

In this session continued the testimony of the head of the anti-terrorist concerning the weapons and explosives found in Nea Smirni and the arrests which took place there, in Pireus and in Kallithea. At some point he even mentioned in the court that the minister of protection of the citizen (public order) was informed of he operation by the anti-terrorists, and it was he who gave the order for the arrests. The head of the anti-terrorists also confirmed that during the first oppressive operation against the CCF (halandri case 2009) an arrest warrant had gone out for a non-existing person, a fact that proves the witch-hunt set up against people who had nothing to do with the CCF. Besides, in the frames of the arrests that took place for the CCF, not only the comrades of the Conspiracy have been arrested but also dozens of irrelevant people.

Session 37, March 29th.

In this session the comrades of the Conspiracy did not appear in the court and sent a statement in which they refused to appear as a minimal act of reaction to the military style raid of the EKAM (special forces) the night before in the cells of Koridallos prisons. We must point out here that the night before there was a raid by the armed EKAM in the prisons and more specifically in the 1st wing where the comrades of the Conspiracy are being held. All cells were open and cops came in with their bulletproof shield and pointing their guns, led the prisoners out in the hall with their hands over their heads and then cuffed them. The hooded ones of the EKAM showed special treatment to the comrades of the Conspiracy, who they separated from the other prisoners and held alone. Also, the search in the cells of the CCF was done by the EKAM, contrary to the others who were searched by regular prison guards.

The next day (the day of the court) the comrades together with the other prisoners refused to return to their cells in the afternoon as a reaction to the cops raid. The continuous raids being carried out in the prisons are because of the noise caused by the recent escape of the 11 from Trikala prisons. Also, about a month ago the Media had made an extensive report about escape plans with a helicopter, which according to the journalists was being organized by the members of the CCF from inside prison.

November 19, 2012 Court Statement by Theofilos Mavropoulos (Greece)

April 6th, 2013

Received from ‘This is our Job’.

All decisions, when it’s a question of freedom, contain death within them. We, through this death, must attain life: a deep breath before the endless journey.

An armed clash took place in Pefki between two anarchists and the police force.

Two of their dogs, Leontopoulos and Drosos, tried to arrest me and my comrade. Our response was armed resistance and the rejection of surrender, with the goal of preserving our freedom, which—as anarchists—we value so much.

The results are well-known: my comrade escaped by stealing a patrol car, while I was wounded and arrested. Also wounded were the two police officers, whom I fired at first, managing to catch them by surprise. Without any doubt, if the pigs had died and the two of us—my comrade and I—had remained unharmed, we would have gotten away.

Additionally—regardless of the fact that my operational priority was to disengage and escape—it would be an honor for me if at the same time I had the blood of two police officers on my hands, not just because they were going to arrest me, but simply and solely because they were police officers. Police repress anti-fascists on the eve of university championships in Kazan (Russia)

April 6th, 2013

At 8:00 a.m. 3rd of April, the officers from the Centre Against Extremism came with a search warrant to 4 addresses of Kazan antifascists.

The searches were carried out with clear violations. There was not any documents to substantiate the detentions but four young people: Ruslan Rostov, Oleg Kapustyanov, Dmitry Ilyichev and Artem Sher, were put into a car and taken to the Police Office “for the talks”, threatened with force. During the searches, two anti-fascists, including Artem Sher, who is a citizen of Israel, were beaten. Later a search took place at the workplace of one more antifascist – this time not only search operatives of the Centre Against Extremism, but also members of the FSB (Federal Service of (state) Security) were present. The resolution of a search warrant stated that the suspect “belongs to the informal youth association Antifa”. Read the rest of this entry »

Anger Unit / ICR-FAI-IRF torch 3 buildings owned by the Major of Aceh Tamiang, Hamdan Sati (Indonesia)

April 3rd, 2013

We speak through fire. To remember and always keep on our mind, our sisters and brothers who are kidnapped by the state and seized behind bars. To continue the urban guerrilla warfare against enemies of freedom. Let the action speak for us.

On March 31, we burned down 3 buildings owned by the Major of Aceh Tamiang, Hamdan Sati. This is our first action done in Aceh, a region where religious fundamentalists in the past threw 64 punks into a rehabilitation camp and made them ‘normal’. But, we want to clarify that we aren’t Acehnese. We have no citizenship because we are borderless. We are the angry ones who light the fire of freedom.

Solidarity to the imprisoned members of CCF and Th. Mavropoulos, Camenisch, da Silva and Italian comrades arrested during the Ardire, Thor, and Mangifuoco operations and to Cospito and Gai. And last but not least, we salute our fire to comrades of Kozani 4 who were recently arrested.

War continues

Spring attacks in Italy

April 2nd, 2013

TORINO (21th of March)
During the night, an arson targeted the entrance gate of Geo Studio Servizi, an architects company which collaborates with the construction of a High Speed Train (TAV) in Val Susa.

TORINO (14th of March)
During the night, three banks were attacked with hammers. The windows got broken and the ATM’s damaged. Tags were painted on the walls saying “Basta sfratti” (stop expulsions) and “Pagherete tutto” (You will pay for everything). According to the police, this attack could be a vengeance for the arrest of three comrades during an anti-expulsion action.

NAPOLI (4th of March)
During the night the Citta della Scienza (City of Science) in Napoli burned to the ground. This institution was well known, even beyond the national borders and consisted of a incubator for companies and a training center to promote the “scientific citizenship”. In a few hours this monument of technological research was destroyed. According to the newspapers it was an arson.

TORINO (2th of March)
During the night, fire was put to an electrical cabin which provides electricity for the Office for Immigration in the corso Verona. Some say this attack could be linked to the recent revolts in the detention center for immigrants in Torino.

6th Anarchist Bookfair – Lisbon – 24th, 25th, 26th of May 2013 (Portugal)

March 28th, 2013

We’re back!

Here comes the 6th Anarchist Bookfair, which will take place on the 24th, 25th and 26th of May 2013 in Lisbon at the Amigos do Minho (in Intendente), with the every year renovated goal of creating an autonomous space, open to all, for the dissemination and discussion of the anarchist ideas.

In this year’s program of the Bookfair, besides the usual stalls, two debates are scheduled. On one hand, we want to discuss the actuation and limitations of the media industry and its possible alternatives. On the other, we’ll debate the role of libraries as a privileged space for meeting, reflection, discussion and sharing.

It is intended that the Bookfair incentives the edition of books and other anarchist publications and its reading. We continue to believe that anarchy is the alternative to the violence of the state, the arrogance of the capital, the “progress” of the technique and the damages of subservient journalism.

In memory of…

March 25th, 2013

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.

Kahlil Gibran

Dedicated to the memory of a true rebel and a dear friend.

Letter by Anarchist prisoner Alfredo Cospito to the C.C.F. (Italy, Greece)

March 24th, 2013

Dear comrades, your letter gave me strength and joy. I have many things to say but I will limit myself to a few of those. The role of the comrades held hostage cannot be but that of analysis, the supplying of the comrades outside the walls with further tools. Beyond the obvious of insurrection and non-subjugation inside the prisons, the struggle continues, and you gave us an example with your resistance. Communication cannot but be carried out through action and this is why we do not have to assign it in some way to the professionals of speech. It is vital, of course, that the news and ideas go around the world. It is necessary however that we avoid in any way the transformation into bureaucracy of a procedure that must remain free from the elite of those who specialize in information. The ability of planning must be the fruit of the action of comrades outside the wall and the analysis of the hostage comrades.
The public dialogue which will take place in Thessaloniki in the frames of counter-information is important, and I am sure that during your intervention you will mention my objection. Read the rest of this entry »

Berlin: Incendiary attack against the Deutsche Bahn in solidarity with Kozani 4 (Germany)

March 23rd, 2013

The DB burns as a solidarity token for imprisoned anarchists in Greece!

In the early hours of February 27th, in search of a suitable target for a solidarity action with Nikos Romanos, Dimitris Politis, Andreas-Dimitris Bourzoukos and Yannis Michailidis, we spotted a vehicle belonging to the Deutsche Bahn in the neighbourhood of Prenzlauer Berg, in Berlin, which we wrapped up in the flames of international solidarity.

At the Deutsche Bahn AG (German railway corporation), ten managers of its subsidiary DB International have bribed public officials for engineering services contracts in several African States and in Greece, as the Frankfurt judiciary confirmed (according to a report of the ‘Süddeutsche Zeitung’ in April 2010).

Since 2008, in a number of legal battles, it has been documented that the German companies Siemens, MAN Ferrostaal and Deutsche Bahn have bought off politicians in Greece on a large scale, and thus ‘financed’ political decisions in their favour. So, the Siemens Group alone ‘invested’ since the mid-1990s and for about a decade 15 million euros per year in Greece, in order to propitiate in this way politicians of both major parties, Nea Dimokratia and PASOK.

While another Deutsche Bahn subsidiary, the Schenker logistics company, transports war supplies for the Bundeswehr (German armed forces), the Deutsche Bahn and the Defense Ministry are running a symbiotic cooperation: “The BwFuhrparkService GmbH has developed and implemented an economical and customer-oriented mobility concept for the German military. [...] The company is a joint venture of the Ministry of Defense as well as the Deutsche Bahn AG. The BwFuhrparkService guarantees customized logistic concepts, reduction of costs and an increase of the utilization and provision of secure vehicles. As a mobility services provider of the German military, the company offers comprehensive experience in the management of more complex fleet vehicles and the production of individual fleet solutions” (excerpts from dbfuhrpark.de/index.php?id=131).

In January 2013, Dr. Rüdiger Grube spoke on the topic ‘The Deutsche Bahn AG – Current Challenges and Perspectives’ at the military academy of the German armed forces, while 61-year-old Moorburger—chairman of the board of the Deutsche Bahn in Berlin since May 2009—explained to over 200 guests the DB AG corporate strategy and processes.

On the 16th of April, the DB Mobility Logistics and the Berlin’s BFD (‘Vocational Advancement Service’ for the education and training of military personnel) will hold a Soldiers Day under the motto ‘No job like any other.’ The event is aimed at men and women soldiers who are interested in being trained and employed by the Deutsche Bahn.

Therefore, we classify the Deutsche Bahn as a de facto belligerent power and component of the German military/NATO, that will not allow any social changes in Greece but will rather go to any lengths in order to assist the suppression of a revolt. The Deutsche Bahn is one of the German enterprises that profit from the crisis in Greece, as was its predecessor, the Reichsbahn during German fascism.

Last night’s fire was meant to show to the prisoners Nikos Romanos, Dimitris Politis, Andreas-Dimitris Bourzoukos and Yannis Michailidis that we are aware of their arrest and torture on the 1st of February after the double robbery in Kozani, and here, in the heart of the beast, we will try everything possible for the downfall of capitalism and its helpers.
Long live Anarchy! Death to all States!

Chaotics of the Night
