Communique by the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire about the hunger strike (Greece)

March 12th, 2015

HUNGER STRIKE: CONSPIRACY OF CELLS OF FIRE – UNLESS WE DIE FOR EACH OTHER, WE ARE ALREADY DEAD

On March 3rd, “justice” decided on the pre-trial detention of the mother of the comrades Christos and Gerasimos Tsakalos and the second one’s girlfriend, with the charge of accession and participation in a terrorist organization.

Behind the obvious ridiculousness of the charge, it is the morbid vindictiveness of the counter-terrorism unit and the judicial authority in hiding, which wishes to blackmail emotionally both the two comrades and all of us. It is not just a vengeance tending to the zillion, it is an attempt to disqualify us. Essentially, they demand an unconditional surrender from us, a silent truce and a farewell to dignity, otherwise there will always be some “hospitable” cells for our relatives in the prisons of democracy.

We will not do them the favor. The war against the power has been indelibly forged inside us and flows like blood in our veins. We will not hand over one millimeter to the enemies of freedom, judges and cops.

We are facing the most vulgar sentimental siege. Beloved ones, who have no political affinity with us, but only a biological and sentimental one, have been kidnapped and kept as hostages by the judicial mafia. In this specific case, the priesthood of justice even abrogates the ridiculousness of its own official rules since, on the pre-trial detention measure, their “holy” law stipulates that «pre-trial detention shall apply only in cases where the defendant is suspected of escape or committing similar offenses».

Which one, even of our enemies, thinks that our relative are “suspected of escape” or “committing crimes” – which they haven’t actually committed? Apparently no one…

This narration of the current affairs is not a part of a personal story or an emotionally charged bracket during the experience of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire.

On the contrary, it is a part of the total repression strategy, coordinated by the high priests of judges, cops and journalists.

The first doors have already started to knock at dawn…

On Saturday, the police operation under the code name “Galatas” (“Milk man”) is made known, in order for the fugitive – member of the R.S. (Revolutionary Struggle) to be tracked down [Pola Roupa], while press reports talk about possible research in the paternal home of the member of R.S., Nikos Maziotis. Moreover, the same day, police and public prosecutors raid anarchists’ homes, after an «anonymous phone call concerning the existence of weapons and explosives».

Although the conclusion of the researches was concentrated into the fucking official paper with two words, «nothing found», in fact, we are in the preface of police and judicial heavy handedness.

Inside this confounded field, where sadness and rage mix with each other, at the same time, with our own hunger strike about the liberation of our relatives, there’s the hunger strike against the C’ type prisons, the terror-law, the 187 law, the hood-law, the fascist police manipulation of the taking of DNA, as well as the liberation of Savvas Xiros taking place. This hunger strike was organized and announced long ago and has our full political agreement. We urgently decided on our hunger strike, as a gag reflex to the captivity imposed to our relatives.

These two hunger strikes are, however, directly linked as they meet as the supplementation of one another. Specifically, the hunger strike about the liberation of our relatives is the physical and political ramification of the terror law application, whose abolition is set as a request of the other political prisoners’ hunger strike.

In our case, we propose the pointed–personal reference to our relatives, because the threat of the constant upgrading of the terror law, from an image of the future, has turned into the fascist current reality, which captivates our own people.

This is why there is no middle way. Either our relatives are released, or there will be the first hunger strikers to die during the last 40 years in Europe, with a left government as a background.

We once more make clear that we don’t ask a thing for ourselves. We have claimed full political responsibility for the whole plan of our escape from Koridallos prison, we have made our self-criticism on our “failures” in public and we keep unrepentant our will for freedom and anarchy, which will only come from our own hands, not by the passive awaiting of the laws.

What we demand is the liberation of our relatives, kidnapped by power.

It would be conscientious and emotional suicide, if we tried to transfuse our political features to this case. No matter how much we hate the logic of victimization, we would be blind if we did not recognize that, in this case, our relatives are the prosecutors’ scapegoats – trophies for our choices.

This is why, when we talk about our relatives, we don’t completely release our words’ roughness, as we do not intend to play political games on the backs of our people. Moreover, nor their legal defense has anything to do with the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire. We will always be by their side, the way they have been by our side, without our political choices intersecting.

The only certain thing is that we maintain our roughness and the absoluteness of our own choices to the decision on hunger strike until death. We move on with the confidence of the ones playing it all for the triumph of the unconquered and free life.

Perhaps it is blood needed for the freedom to grow.
But this is how it is…

We die the way we chose to live; with dignity that won’t capitulate even against death.

Because, genuine freedom only exists in the struggle for freedom.

WE NEVER FORGET – WE NEVER FORGIVE

HUNGER STRIKE UNTIL THE DEATH FOR THE LIBERATION OF OUR RELATIVES

SOLIDARITY AND VICTORY TO ALL HUNGER STRIKERS’ STRUGGLE

1. For the abolition of the A’ counter-terror law (article 187),
2. For the abolition of the B’ counter-terror law (article 187A),
3. The abolition of the hood-law,
4. The abolition of the C’ type prisons law,
5. The liberation of Savvas Xiros for medical reasons,
6. The abolition of the Public Prosecutor provision requiring the violent taking of DNA (and generally, the police manipulation with the construction of culprits through DNA).

Comrade Spiros Mandylas re-arrested and held in Thessaloniki – Now on hunger strike (Greece)

March 12th, 2015

UPDATE: Text by anarchist prisoner Spiros Mandylas about his new arrest and his hunger strike

Inter Arma received and translated:

Comrade Spiros Mandylas was arrested today [10 March] in the afternoon and he will be presented tomorrow before the persecutor, who will decide whether he will be detained or not. He is held in the General Police Agency of Thessaloniki and he refused to be subjected to body control, something that infuriated the cops. He is strong and in high spirits.

The reason for his arrest is the fact that he didn’t pay the 5.000 fine he was sentenced to by the trial that ended last Thursday 05/03, a trial that took place without the presence of the comrade and his lawyer, while his co-defendants, except one, legitimized the trial, thus his sentence, with their presence there.

A text written by the comrade will be published in the following days.

DAF: ‘Revolutionary Anarchist Action’ – Demo in memory of Berkin Elvan (Turkey)

March 12th, 2015

Berkin Elvan was a 15-year-old Turkish boy who was hit in the head by a tear-gas canister fired by a police officer in Istanbul, while the boy was out to buy bread for his family during the June 2013 Gezi park protests in Turkey. He died on March 11, 2014. Widespread demonstrations erupted following Berkin’s death. Gezi park remains heavily monitored by secret police.

We received the following report from DAF of an action taken to commemorate Berkin. In the video you can see and hear small explosives and fireworks being used against the police and to create a rupture in the city. Here is the communique we received:

DAF action for Berkin Elvan

One year ago, murderous police killed our brother Berkin Elvan who was 15 years old. DAF was on the streets in the first year of his murder. We are not afraid of the murderers. We will keep on fighting. Murderous Police, Terrorist State will pay for these massacres.

Berkin is here, We are here!

On the first anniversary of the death of Berkin Elvan, the comrades from LAF (High School Anarchist Action) also opened a banner on the stairs of Gezi Park. On it was written the slogan “Berkin is here”. They poured red paint on the stairs to the Gezi Park, shouting “If the government is thirsty for blood, then take it.” Our 8 comrades were then assaulted, abused and taken into custody, handcuffed from the back.

Solidarity with the hungerstrike rebellion in Harmondsworth and Colnbrook (UK)

March 10th, 2015

Update: Protests spreading across immigration detention centres in UK.

Resistance continued yesterday at Harmondsworth and Colnbrook. Over 70 people detained had gathered in the courtyard to continue the protest.

Outside at 9am a group of people made a solidarity demonstration in support of the protests. They could hear people shouting ‘Freedom’ and ‘No Food’. The police were called to the protest and one person was pushed aggressively. Guards and centre managers are asking detainees to go to their rooms and come to talk to the managers one-by-one or in pairs. Detainees have refused and ask the management/staff to come and listen to them in the yard. Read the rest of this entry »

Solidarity with Rainer Loehnert, who attempted to escape from psychiatric prison (Germany)

March 9th, 2015

Get away! – An attempt to escape from a place of annihilation

At the end of January, Rainer Loehnert has attempted to escape from a forensic psychiatry unit. Unfortunately his attempt failed and since then he is detained in the isolation unit inside the closed psychiatry. Thus a prison within a prison.

Rainer is 53 years old and he is imprisoned for more than 28 years, currently in a forensic psychiatry unit in Bedburg-Hau, a small town in the north-west of Germany, near the German-Dutch border. But he doesn’t give up the fight for his freedom! Rainer had recently participated in a solidarity hunger-strike for the prisoner’s struggles in Greece. (more info)

And now he has acted according to his own motto: “Anarchy and total liberation is not for free!” (from a letter of Rainer, at the end of January 2015) So he has once again faced up squarely to the ‘white pigs’ and took his life in his own hands. He didn’t want to wait for another humiliating psychological assessment, which certifies at regular intervals his “dangerousness” and “mental illness”. Read the rest of this entry »

Domokos: Text by Nikos Maziotis about the elections on January 25th and the coalition of SYRIZA and ANEL (Greece)

March 8th, 2015

Translated by Act for freedom now!

The January 25 elections was one more “triumph” of civil democracy. It was further proof of the discrediting of a rotten political system, where more than 1/3 of the electoral body turned its back on the “fiesta” of democracy and did not go to vote. Out of the approximately 9.800.000 voters registered in the electoral records participation was at 63,5%, meaning that the valid votes were about 6.180.000, while the other 3.620.000, which accounts for 36,5%, did not go to vote. Out of those who voted, SYRIZA got 36%, i.e. around 2.200.000 voters, meaning that out of all the registered voters, SYRIZA’s government was based on less than 1/4 of the electoral body.

A triumph therefore of “popular dominance” and democratic centralization! In the end it’s not the majority through representatives that “governs” as is supposed, but the minority. It has been proved yet again that the political system of civil parliamentarianism is disparaged by millions of citizens. It was proved that precisely because of this disparaging of the political system as a result of the economic crisis, all the governments of recent years are minority governments and that self-reliance is now impossible. In reality, one could say that the main power are those abstaining from electoral illusions and staged circuses of professional liars and fraudsters, right or left. Read the rest of this entry »

Statement of Christos Rodopoulos to the special appellate investigator (Greece)

March 6th, 2015

On Research Methodology

Life is a non-factual continuum for the understanding, of which, the use of quantification techniques – endearing especially in the modern technocratic “society” – fails both in terms of structure and intention.

One example of these techniques is the huge indictment you impose on me. A text which is abstruse, among other things, and when it is read by the will for life and freedom. By the will for union with the nature of life and its creations, but also with the freedom those are offering selflessly, to any creature that wishes to get closer with the reverence of the participant and the drive of the one seeking.

Perhaps you already started discerning – if you indeed, even in an instant, abdicate the role of the bearer of such a text – the gap existing between your investigative questions and my situation.

So, let’s not move on to them and seize this earned time, in order to hark, among others, a distant burr, deriving from this gap.

……

And of course not, this burr is not from the endless machines of Alexandras Avenue*. It is the silently thunderous pain the penal scalpel of quantification creates in the souls of the ones subsisting and inside the prison cells.

But here I am going to end this statement of mine, although abruptly, but hoping to a not further demarcation of anything flowing from it.

Text of anarchist hunger striker Nikos Maziotis about the CCF members’ hunger strike (Greece)

March 6th, 2015

NO ONE LEFT ALONE IN THE FACE OF STATE REPRESSION

Political prisoners have currently launched a hunger strike in Greek prisons beginning from March 2nd 2015. Some of them, like me, have a common context of demands regarding: the abolition of the ‘antiterrorism’ legislations, the abolition of the hoodie law and the type C prisons, and the release of the convicted 17N member Savvas Xiros on health grounds.

At the same time, the political prisoners of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire have also begun a hunger strike, demanding the release of their family members who were recently arrested and placed under preventive detention, after it was disclosed that CCF members organised a plan to escape Koridallos prisons.

Regardless of differences in demands, I support the CCF prisoners’ struggle as regards their demand. Despite the political differences between political prisoners and the problems that have arisen among them, despite the different context of the hunger strikes, I believe that people in solidarity, the anarchist/anti-authoritarian space should support all political prisoners. No one should be left alone in the face of repression.

CCF Escape case: Report about the inquisition – 6 March 2015 – Updated (Greece)

March 6th, 2015

UPDATED

As is known, the CCF imprisoned members are on hunger strike until death. Christos’ and Gerasimos’ mother and Gerasimos’ wife testified to the investigating judge on Tuesday, where they both denied the charge of being members of a “terrorist organization” (which is what they are charged with). The comrades’ mother only accepted the charge of “harboring a criminal”, and she was remanded by the counter-terror state. Gerasimos’ wife was also remanded the same day.

On March 4th, Christos Tsakalos wrote a political claim of his own, concerning the escape attempt, and Giorgos Polydoros published a text as well, as a personal friend of his brother was arrested (he was released along with the woman who was arrested on Saturday).

On March 5th, Aggeliki S. and the 39-year-old comrade Christos R. who was arrested in the neighbourhood of Galatsi on February 28th were demanded to testify. Aggeliki gave a statement saying she did not recognise the court and declared herself as anarchist. Aggeliki was then detained in Korydallos, and she had already began a hunger strike from the point of her arrest with the common aims of CCF. Christos R. also gave a statement, and was immediately remanded to Domokos Type C prison.

On March 6th, Christos Polydoros, brother of Giorgos, voluntarily went to the public prosecutor to speak against the repression of the family and friends of CCF, so the prosecutor vermin ordered his arrest. Currently, Christos Polydoros is being held by the anti-terrorist force in the Athens police headquarters [he is now released, 10 March].

CCF Escape case: Statement of Giorgos Polydoros (Greece)

March 5th, 2015

The text was sent to mass media:

From the first moment, we have claimed responsibility for the escape plan from Korydallos prison, when it was uncloaked, we the 10 members of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire.

The last five days, we see our relatives and their friends being dragged and being assailed, who have nothing to do with the case and, indeed, detaining the mother of Christos and Gerasimos Tsakalos and the second one’s wife.

The accusation of involvement in [terrorist] organization, they are charged with by the counter-terrorism unit, is ridiculous and unsustainable. They’re calling a 60-year-old mother and the wife members [of CCF] and detain them, under the pretext that they’re suspected of fleeing. We are talking about people with permanent residences and who were visiting us in the visiting hours in prison. Who are the trashes of counter-terrorism unit fooling with? We are experiencing a moment where the counter-terrorism unit is doing whatever it wants and has gone beyond any limit of amorality, without giving an account to anyone. Its political enemies are us and not our relatives. If it wants to strike someone, let it strike us and leave the clowning aside.

We also know that today are the evaluations of police, so everyone understands what a dirty game is being played in the background and the show they have set, in order to get promotions.

From Monday 2/3, we all ten members of the Cells have begun a hunger strike until death, in order for the four relatives and their friends to be set free. They have nothing to do with our actions. They will either set them free, or let them prepare themselves to count the first dead political prisoners.

At the same time, we support the hunger strike taking place in prisons, for the abolition of the counter-terrorism law, the hood-law and the C’ Type prisons. The situation the counter-terrorism unit created for our families is the over-the-top consequence of the terror law and opens new doors.

CCF Escape case: Statement from Christos Tsakalos (Greece)

March 5th, 2015

The statement was sent to mass media:

These days we’re experiencing the ultimate triumph of the counter-terrorism unit’s state.

After supporting and setting an entire show with cameras showing arrested people with hoods on their heads being dragged up the GADA [counter-terror hq] stairs, it completed the coup with the detention of my mother and my brother’s wife.

And although yesterday we claimed full political and penal responsibility for the escape plan as Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, all of a sudden I hear that both my mother and my brother’s wife are detained.

Accidentally, it is the same day that the [neo-nazi political party] Golden Dawn members are released from prison. Moreover, accidentally, this afternoon there are the evaluations of the police*.

As in the world we live there aren’t that many coincidences but only expediencies, it is clear that there is an expediency game being played here.

Apart from the ridiculousness of the accusation against them and against the two personal friends of theirs, the accusation of the two detainees isn’t evaluated as necessary for their detention.

Their laws stipulate that: “Someone is to be detained only when judged that he is suspected of escaping or committing similar crimes”. What reasonable human being believes something like this, either about my mother, or about my brother’s wife?

What is taking place right now reminds one of the fascist state in Germany, in the 1970s, when, in order to avenge the RAF, it launched a pogrom against their relatives and their lawyers.

Back then, the German state counted the first dead hunger strikers.

Maybe someone wants to count the first dead hunger strikers here in Greece as well.

This is why we’re not going to end the hunger strike until death, unless our relatives and friends, who are testifying today, are released.

Christos Tsakalos

-

* Christos refers to the procedure of police officers being evaluated for their service.

Translator’s note: A female friend of Christos’ mother (accused of CCF membership) and Giorgos Polydoros brother’s friend have been set free with restrictive bail conditions.

Fuck off.
Get the fuck out away from this neighborhood, get the fuck out away from this city, fuck off to a forest. Burn yourself.

With Her, you also begun with threats.
This payment is symbolic, but think what we can afford to do, when we can’t afford anything.
Burgeoisie, cops, politicians, journalists – you are all guilty.
All this state is guilty.
But you pay first, old prick, SS-man of the gentryfication, Warsaw’s executioner.
We don’t give a fuck about your arrangements and connections, pals that get your back, bribes and mates.
You’re getting better in changing windows, but you will not hide your guilt.
You can wash the paint off your walls, but you will not clean your hands.
We take justice in our own hands.
On the bricks it was written JOLA.
You will see this word till the end of your days.
It will be branded under your eyelids.
Let it wake you up like an axe breaking the door in the middle of the night.
Let the stink of burning petrol never leave you, wherever you’ll go.
Remember the way your victims have looked at you.
Thousands of those looks are watching your every move.

War against ISIS/Daesh: Kobanê’s internationalist women fighters: 2015 must be the year of women (Kurdistan)

March 5th, 2015

KOBANÊ – Marxist women fighters from Turkey have called for all women to make 2015 the year of women. The women, who have fought alongside their Kurdish comrades to defend Kobanê and are now working in there construction, sent their greetings for March 8, International Working Women’s Day, to all the oppressed women and LGBTQI people in the world.

“Seeing 14, 15-year-old girls coming here wanting to defend their homeland affects you like you can’t believe,” said Ulrike Barbara of TİKKO (Liberation Army of the Workers and Peasants of Turkey). “I’ve been here for two months but I really regret not coming earlier.”

Ulrike had long been interested in women’s issues while she was in Turkey. She stressed the intimate link between the violence against women and minorities in Turkey and the attacks of rapist Daesh gangs against Kurdish women, carried out with the logistical support of the Turkish government.

Roza Kutlu of the MLKP (Marxist-Leninist Communist Party) said the Kobanê martyrdom of Sarya Özgür, a fellow MLKP fighter, was one of the factors that moved her to come here, but that Kurdish women fighters and martyrs had long been an inspiration for her. Now Arîn Mîrxan, the martyr who sacrificed herself to liberate the city, had become an inspiration for her and all her comrades.

“The resistance led by the YPJ here has been an example to us all,” said Rezzan Işık of the MLKP. “Women walk the streets with confidence here, with guns in their hands. They’ve made the heroic sacrifices on the front lines—women like Arîn Mîrxan, Sarya Özgür and Kader Ortakaya.”

She said these martyrs in the Kobanê resistance, giving their all against the rapist Daesh gang members, inspired her to fight for and defend herself. Now she has come here hoping to take part in the reconstruction process, saying she wanted to help build a woman’s city on the site where so many women gave their lives for freedom.
