On recent repression in Copenhagen (Denmark)

August 16th, 2015

At 5.30 am Thursday August 13, the anti-authoritarian collective Bumzen was raided by a gang of masked cops from the police anti-criminal gang unit. They were followed by an army of armoured cops, who handcuffed everyone present in the building at the time. The pretext given was that they were looking for participants in a riotous Reclaim the Streets demo the previous weekend. However, it is clear to us that this was a politically motivated operation against the infrastructure of the radical movement.

Although about 25 people were present during the raid, none were allowed to supervise the police while they were searching through their rooms and property. The police picked out the individuals, who had their official address at Bumzen to bring them to the cop shop to and charge them under paragraph 134a, participation in a riot.

Three other locations were raided the same morning. Two 17-year olds were arrested and remanded, accused of smashing windows at a bank in Østerbro, despite their status as minors and vandalism being a fairly petty charge.

On Saturday August 15 a demonstration took place from Blågårds Plads to Bumzen, where there was people’s kitchen. All proceeds collected are being donated to to the prisoners.

‘Generations of Resistance to War’ – Chapter 8 of the book ‘Radical Peace: People Refusing War’ By William T. Hathaway (USA)

August 15th, 2015

Generations of Resistance to War

Chapter 8 the book
RADICAL PEACE: People Refusing War
By William T. Hathaway

A Granny for Peace told of finding young allies in the struggle against military recruiting. Due to the PATRIOT Act, she wishes to remain nameless.

It’s never easy being a parent or a child. The generations always have friction between them, a conflict between the elders’ need to give guidance and youths’ need to find their own way. I grew up in the 1950s, when the USA was very conservative and bound by traditions. My parents’ generation had grown up in the Depression amid poverty and then struggled through World War Two with its threat of death and destruction. By the time they were ready to start families, they were fixated on stability and security. They measured their progress by their possessions: buying their first car, first television, first house. Their morality centered on controlling sexuality and protecting private property. Their religion was a death cult of stern patriarchs, obedient virgins, innocent babies, and threats of eternal torture. Their deepest philosophy was, “There is no free lunch.” The peak of their scientific achievement was the hydrogen bomb. Fear was their strongest emotion. Read the rest of this entry »

English version

Call out for an International Week for Anarchist Prisoners

In summer 2013 members of several ABC groups discussed the necessity of introducing an International Day for Anarchist Prisoners. Given there are already established dates for Political Prisoners Rights Day or Prison Justice Day, we found it important to emphasise the stories of our comrades as well. Many imprisoned anarchists will never be acknowledged as ‘political prisoners’ by formal human-rights organisations, because their sense of social justice is strictly limited to the capitalist laws which are designed to defend the State and prevent any real social change. At the same time, even within our individual communities, we know so little about the repression that exists in other countries, to say nothing of the names and cases involving many of our incarcerated comrades.

This is why we have decided to introduce an annual Week for Anarchist Prisoners on August 23-30. We chose August 23 as a starting point, because on that very day in 1927 the Italian-American anarchists Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were executed in prison. They were convicted of murdering two men during an armed robbery at a shoe factory in South Braintree, Massachusetts, United States. Their arrest was a part of a bigger anti-radical campaign led by the American government. The State’s evidence against the two was almost totally non-existent and many people still today believe that they were punished for their strong anarchist beliefs.

Given the nature and diversity of anarchist groups around the globe, we have proposed a week of common action rather than a single campaign on a specific day making easier for groups to be able to organise an event within a longer target period.

Therefore, we call on everyone to spread the information about the Week for Anarchist Prisoners among other groups and communities and think about organising event(s) in your city or town. The events can vary from info-evenings, screenings and benefit concerts to solidarity and direct actions. Let your imagination run free.
Check out the flyers in different languages. Please send reports of your activities to tillallarefree (A) riseup.net

Report from ABC Denver: Repression in Denver (USA)

August 13th, 2015

Over the last year there has been a strong resistance to police murder
and terror across the city of Denver. This is only the most recent surge
in resistance to police terror in our city, going back to the loss of
Paul Childs in 2003 or more recently Marvin Booker in 2010.

Denver Police have been systematically targeting and arresting those
actively involved in this organizing. Denver Community Defense
Committee, a group which has organized extensive support for families of
people murdered by police, has five of its seven members under
prosecution or known to be under investigation by the Gang Unit of DPD.
Prominent independent journalists, those with an expansive reach through
social media, have been targeted and arrested while filming the police
in Denver.

War against ISIS/Daesh: Solidarity greetings from MLKP Rojava to the rallies of 25-26 of July (Kurdistan)

August 13th, 2015

Our friends are to come together to protest against the Suruç Massacre, we are for embracing comrades and friends with love. To say like Che, “Solidarity is delicacy of peoples” is our command still. We are all together against the massacre policy at this time like all of the time.

AKP government was supporting first Al Nusra, but now AKP support ISIS and they attacked revolutionary young people together. The SGDF (Socialist Youth Association) members was on the way to build the city Kobane again. The fascist government of Turkey AKP and ISIS to turns towoards the young people.

Member of the Socialist Youth Association came to rebuild Kobane, young people have the freedom of the Kurdish people saw as their freedom. They target was chosen because they had been building a bridge of brotherhood

ISIS and co-operation with the AKP carried out this attack , nor the meeting with the world Rojava Revolution with the struggle of the Kurdish people will not prevent the meeting of the socialists.

AKP government’s expectations was defeated by the Kobane resistance.

When Til Abyad got liberated, lies came from AKP and Tayyip Erdoğan, “They are killing ethnic groups.” After then with saying “If Kurdish zones and cantons join together, we will enter Syria too.”, started to threaten Kurdish people. AKP, can not tolerate the equal and democratic Rojava, increasing their cooperation with ISIS, then started to make massacres. However, massacres or fascist terrorism are not able to block Kurdish people’s freedom bid.

AKP-ISIS connection will be ended by Kurdish people’s united challenge. We are inviting all workers to save socialist young people who are humanity’s honor and also waiting an answer against AKP-ISIS cooperation.

We will evolve the pain into anger, and the anger will be evolved into rebellion at streets!

Honor, the challenge of freedom and the martrys are immortal!

Vatan Budak – 5th anarchist killed by the Suruç bombing (Turkey)

August 13th, 2015

Vatan Budak who was wounded in Suruç bombing passed away.

We lost our comrade, Vatan Budak who was wounded in Suruç (Pirsus) bombing and in intensive care for 16 days. Vatan was the member of United Anarchist Attack.

He is the 5th anarchist comrade killed in Suruç blast.

His funeral took place today in Gaziosmanpaşa, İstanbul.

This neighbourhood is predominantly fascist and his family is one of the few Kurdish families living there. Because of great threat of violence and danger to his family flags and banners were somehow restricted. They were fully displayed only in the cemetery, where speeches were made bidding him last farewell. He was buried under black and red flag.

Different anarchist groups and individuals were present.

Instead of a minute of silence – a whole life in struggle!

One person was reported arrested on their way to the funeral, but we haven’t got more info.
