The Anti Fascist Network is all about getting out of our armchairs and on to the streets, so here’s a run through of what’s coming up. How will anyone know you oppose fascism if you don’t get out there and say so!
First up in March is an EDL national demo in Manchester on Saturday the 7th. The local UAF are organising a counter demo. It’s Piccadilly Gardens at midday. The EDL say their demo is because of ‘Muslim grooming gangs’ but a recent post from Malatesta demonstrates how the far-right has more than its fair share of sex offenders as well. Unfortunately, paedophiles and rapists turn up in all walks of life. It is not about ethnicity. (more…)

From Midlands Anti-Fascists.
ALERTA! Anti-Fascist response needed in the West Midlands!
The racists of the English Defence League (EDL) are planning to have their national demo on Saturday February the 7th in Dudley. They are treating it very seriously, and antifa need to be just as committed and more organised.
In the context of Charlie Hebdo, islamaphobia from the government, the media and the far-right is on the rise. Letting them feel they can have these views and gather in an attempt to intimidate Black, Asian and other minority ethnic populations is not an option. (more…)
Night-time stalking of Bristol fascists – EDL Chris Pugh’s car vandalised and fascist hang-out Apple Tree pub smashed (UK)
Tuesday, April 29th, 2014
325 receives and transmits:
Some local fascist haunts have been hunted down in our areas. This is to combat continuing fascist stirrings like racist assaults, intimidation and graffiti here in Bristol* and elsewhere. The far-right will be fought in the daytime like in Brighton last Sunday, or at night when we choose.
EDL Fascist Chris Pugh plays as DJ around Bristol pubs under the name of The Last Resort, and runs a retro shop under the same name on the Wells Road. His street stall in St.Nicholas market ceased trading after being publicly paintbombed on a Saturday by anti-fascists. His shop is a few minutes from his house in Knowle West (47 Salcombe Rd), the stomping ground of his youth. So, on the night of Tuesday 15th April, all four tyres were punctured on his Grey Jaguar car, and body work scratched. It’s the least we can do for him right now.
Two days later, at the Apple Tree pub in Philips street, off Bedminister parade, two downstairs windows and one upstairs were smashed at sunrise. The pub is a consecutive meeting place of EDL organisers, such as Mickey Bayliss, who organised the EDL demo in central Bristol last year as their South-West co-ordinator.
Attack the racists and fascists, history has always proved that they’ll be the allies of the bosses, patriarchs and the state, pretending to speak for the white underdog. It’s a mistake to let them fester.
Lastly, across the channel in Calais fascists have fallen back for the moment after an international call-out to fight their repeated attacks on squats and migrants, though the bigger enemy remains the authorities and the state.
Solidarity to Damien Camelio also in France doing time for burning buildings used by the army, the prison service, National Front, and calling to arms against repression in all forms.

The annual March for England portrayed as a patriotic protest on St Georges day is an excuse for the fascist scum of the EDL (English Defence League) to plague the streets of Brighton. This year they got was coming to them when they were out numbered by 2,000 anti-fascists coming from all across the country.
The march this year was shortened due to the collapse of the road at the sea front. (even nature did not want the fascists to march) As usual the march was confronted on its route but restricted by a massive police presence with forces even being shipped in from as far as Cornwall. Also included on the day was the much loved TSG (Tactical Support Group, extremely violent militant police unit) and extensive fencing that included mobile barricades that closed off all streets reaching the beach front where the march was proceeding.
Anti-fascists on the day had no illusions that march at the sea would be impregnable and chose to roam the city centre of Brighton in affinity groups seeking the fascists who would be walking down from the railway station, with some drinking in pubs away from the march looking for a fight with those they are against such as anyone who is not white or skin headed, such as the racist attacks that happened last year after the march. The Metropolitan Police arrested over 280 anti-fascist activists, local community members, and passersby in East London on 7 September, as up to 700 English Defence League supporters were allowed to march over Tower Bridge and rally at Aldgate without encountering any mass opposition.
A large community demonstration was restricted to Altab Ali Park, well out of sight of the EDL’s march route and rally point. A bloc of around 600 within the demonstration, coordinated by the Anti-Fascist Network (AFN), attempted to hold a march to get within sight of the EDL’s route and present a visible opposition, which was then blocked and kettled by police. Despite police attacks the front of the AFN bloc did manage to get within sight of the EDL march, meaning the only political opposition the racists saw on the day was a direct result of the AFN mobilisation. One month to go and it is time to get mobilising for the biggest turnout possible against the EDL in Tower Hamlets.
The racists are mobilising nationally to descend on London’s East End but they won’t get to intimidate people and parade their hatred through the streets unopposed. (more…)

325 receives and transmits this statement. We have total solidarity with the arrested anti-fascists, but we state our position against the defence of “democracy” as is advocated in the following statement, in accordance with our anarchist principles.
At approximately 12:40 on Saturday 25 May 2013, 14 anti-fascists were arrested outside the Haymarket metro station in Newcastle as they were about to join the Newcastle Unites march against the English Defence League (EDL). The youngest of those arrested was just 15. There is substantial evidence that members of Newcastle Unites played a part in the arrests. All those arrested had their homes raided while they were in custody, and police have seized mobile phones, computers, cameras, notebooks and political literature. The protesters were released without charge 10 hours later, in the middle of the night at a police station on the outskirts of Newcastle. They have been bailed until 7 August 2013. (more…)

From Anti-Fascist Network:
The EDL are marching in Bristol on the 14th of July. The counter-mobilisation is in full swing, so get involved. Now is the time for action.
Come to Templemeads area [main train station] and line the route at 10am on the 14th to give them the welcome they deserve. Stay alert. Stay mobile. Bring your mates. There are many, many ways to show your opposition to the EDL: don’t let them march, don’t give ‘em a lift in your taxi, put posters up in shops, don’t serve them drinks, raise awareness about their farcical attempts to disguise their homophobia, chat to work colleagues, decorate the city…. do whatever you feel comfortable with but now is the time to get a crew together and take action against racism in our city. We want to meet them at the station to stop them marching for any distance. We will resist them wherever they turn and we will be watching them. Let’s defend ourselves against the EDL! Zero tolerance of fascism on our streets.

The North West Infidels (NWI), a splinter group from the English Defence League with links to many other fascist and extreme-right groups, are planning a demonstration in Greater Manchester on Saturday 24 March. We call on all anti-fascists, anti-racists and organised workers to mobilise in opposition to the presence of these fascists on our streets.
We call for a national mobilisation of anti-fascists! (more…)

From Bristol IMC:
Local antifascists took action yesterday [10 March 2012] with a paint attack on The Last Resort skinhead music and clothing stall on Corn Street. This business is run by Chris Pugh, a fascist skinhead and member of the English Defence League, and is being used to provide a platform for racist, fascist ideology under the cover of being “just about the music”. We thought it could do with a bit of an antifascist redecoration. The merchandise got absolutely trashed and we had no trouble from the “tough guy” skinhead behind the stall. While we understand that it will take more than a red and black wash to persuade these bigotted idiots about the error of their ways, we think it’s a good starting contribution to the sort of dialogue we’re prepared for with fascists in Bristol. A data breach has been noticed in the English Defence League organisation. Major details of the organisation’s leaders and members have been revealed.
‘Hackers’ have leaked several details of English Defence League’s leadership. A ‘zine’ which is also known as an ‘archive’ or ‘resource’ has been released by the notorious security organisation ‘TeaMp0isoN’ which they themselves have entitled ‘EDL Leadership Exposed’.
