“Hallucination, intimidation and control” : Letter from Chilean comrade Francisco Solar about ‘Operation Pandora’ (Spain)
Sunday, April 12th, 2015
From Pubblicacion Refractario:
‘Are we persecuted? Well, it’s logical that we are persecuted because we are a constant threat for who represents the system. In order not to be prosecuted we would have to adapt to their laws, comply with them, integrate into the system, let bureaucracy penetrate our spinal cord and become perfect traitors… but is that what we want? No. So our everyday actions have to be nourished with our creative imagination. Our strength is our ability to resist. We can fail but must never bow down to anyone.’ Buenaventura Durruti.
There can be many and varied explanations for the repressive blow of December 16th, just as the general and specific causes that intertwined to create a delirious net of power leading to the arrest of our friends and comrades are many.
Perhaps one of the general causes could be the introduction of the Law on Citizens Security, known as the ‘Gag law’; this, along with the exacerbation of the penal code, which has re-introduced life sentences, creates a pattern whereby the control exercised by power is more efficient and strengthened by constant paranoia. Sentences for attacks on authorities, public disorder and disobedience have been exacerbated; at the same time social protests like those of 15M [blockade of parliament] and of PAH (a group against housing taxes) are being punished. Progressives and social-democrats say that the State is ‘leaving less space for freedom’ and that ‘the struggle for rights is being criminalized’. As you can see, the turn of the screw by the repressive-judicial apparatus is striking citizens, that is to say those who struggle for more and better laws, more and better democracy, for more participation in the management of misery. Freedom and law is inconsistent with one another. As anarchists we are aware that the more rights are granted the stronger the State becomes and as a consequence our submission grows. Not because it will cease to be such with a subtle, more democratic oppression, but quite the opposite it becomes more natural and firm in its being invisible. (more…)
Brighton: Demo – Sunday 12 April in solidarity with anarchists in Spain & Catalunya – ‘Operación Piñata’ (UK)
Saturday, April 11th, 2015
**NB: There is a demonstration organised for Brighton at the Clock-Tower on Sunday 12th at 6pm**
Last Monday (April 30th) there was a new repressive strike against the anarchist movement in Spain. Thirty-eight people were arrested in a police operation under the name ‘Operación Piñata‘. Fifteen of them are facing charges of terrorism and five are in preventive imprisonment. The raids were carried out on private homes, social centres and squatted spaces in Madrid, Barcelona, Palencia and Granada.
These police raids were carried out in a very open way, trying to create the maximum social alarm. The media have published the names of the people arrested and the groups they are involved in, presenting the fake police accusations as fact. They talk about ‘anarchist terrorism’ and organisations with leaders, hierarchical infrastructures and various ‘capitation’ methods the arrested allegedly use to ‘fund’ their ‘illegal’ activities.
These raids are a continuation of police operation ‘Operación Pandora‘, which took place last December within the context of the increasingly repressive politics employed by the Spanish government. (more…)

This morning in Operation Piñata (following Pandora in December) cops have raided social centres and arrested people (at least 26) in Barcelona, Madrid, Palencia and Granada.
La 13-14 in Madrid announced it was being raided this morning.
CSOA La Redonda in Granada released a communique condemning the raids, which they said occurred without a warrant.
Centro Social (re)Okupado La Quimera in Lavapies, Madrid was evicted. It also stated no warrant was shown after its doors were smashed at 06:30 and added:
“This is just another attack on the anarchist movement with intent to criminalize and victimize our struggle.”
Other raided social centres were la Magdalena and La Enredadera de Tetuán.

In the night of January 30th, 2015, the 7 comrades who were still imprisoned following the arrests on the 16th of December 2014 as part of Operation Pandora were released.
One day before, the instructing judge of the Audiencia Nacional (Madrid) permitted access to the investigative file, and what we know at the moment is what has been circulated through the website of Mossos d’Esquadra in a press communiqué. They are facing charges such as membership in GAC (Coordinated Anarchist Groups), attacks against banks, posting parcel bombs (one to the Archbishop of Pamplona, one to a member of the fascist congregation Legionaries of Christ, and others to Italian companies), while “they are linked”—always according to the police—with the explosive attacks against the Cathedral of Almudena in Madrid (February 7th, 2013) and the Basilica of the Pillar in Zaragoza (October 2nd, 2013), the latter having led to the indictment and pretrial detention of our comrades Mónica and Francisco. Freedom for all!
We want them home now!
Solidarity is our best weapon
Friday, January 9th, 2015
A year has passed since police stormed our flat yelling: ‘Have you got something hot?’ I was surprised and at the same time it made me laugh. Then we realized that they meant a trap using an explosive device, which made us laugh even more.
For a year I’ve been held hundreds of kilometres away from my companion and during this time I have only been able to hear her voice for 5 minutes every 2 weeks.
For a year I’ve been locked up in solitary confinement in 3 different prisons of the kingdom of Spain. Prisons that base their management on psychiatry and cure prisoners to the point of annihilation, implementing total control of communication and contact with the outside. In these prisons of the developed world priority is given to impersonal contact with the outside as any physical contact is strictly limited, contrary to my experience in the Chilean prisons. The possibility of being with your people is out of the question in places like this.
For a year solidarity has always been there, in particular from the anarchists of Barcelona, who have destroyed separation and isolation with their determination and initiative. They have demonstrated that solidarity is not an empty word, that it is inseparable from all our practices of struggle for total liberation.
And in the face of this, power has once again distinguished itself; it doesn’t have the faintest idea of what keeps us together. The hardships they inflict on us make us stronger, we know each other better in difficult times and learn to know each other even more, and we laugh more at what we thought was insurmountable. If we decide to confront the State it is because we decided to stop living on our knees a long time ago.

Democracy justifies itself by principles which, though they are repeated a thousand times, do not become true, but have become so internalised that even its opponents believe in them. The popular idea of the goodness of this regime has become so ingrained and immobile that change appears impossible, no one now proposes any other forms of organisation, or even other forms of living.
To us the daughters of democracy, they have told us that this is the best of all regimes, our parents and grandparents lived under a system where coercion and repression were more direct, and now that things are gentler, we are obliged from birth to accept it. How is it that we are becoming a generation more impoverished than those before, without going through a war? Because of a situation that is imposed by this system as inevitable.
The free association in which democracy is said to be based is nothing of the sort, because from birth we are obliged to belong to this regime without being allowed to choose other forms of life. We do not associate freely within educational institutions because other ways of learning are made illegal, we do not associate freely within work because we do not control what we produce, nor the time clock, nor do we have the capacity to organise ourselves together with companions.
Universal suffrage, a concept that throughout history has been praised as a victory for increasingly greater parts of the population, puts itself in question. They have always told us that the vote is free when in reality it is a limited choice, because consciousness is not free, it is subject to the propaganda of the regime and the culture defended by the groups in power. It also denies freedom by reducing it to no more than giving an opinion, “yes” or “no” or on what party is going to govern, denying us the possibility to develop other proposals for living together. And because it is anonymous, is there no freedom of expression?
In democracy we give up our interests, the satisfaction of our needs and the organisation of human relations and of life, into the hands of others. By means of the vote we supposedly choose those who can better represent our interests, but here we collide with reality: the political parties defend their own interests in accordance with the rules they themselves have established, they seek to accumulate levels of economic and political power in order to maintain their domination and influence on the rest of society. Text written a week ago about Pandora’s police operation in Spain
The morning of Tuesday the 16th of December has surprised us with a wave
of house raids and arrests. Surprised us? We are not going to lie. Let’s
start again. The morning of the 16th of December has NOT surprised us. The
autonomous Catalan police, the Mossos d’Esquadra, and the Guardia Civil
and judiciary powers of the Audiencia Nacional stormed more than ten
houses and a few anarchist spaces in Barcelona, Sabadell, Manresa and
Madrid, with house raids, arrests, confiscation of propaganda material and
information, to also use the occasion to enter and plunder, with the
entire riot police team of the Mossos d’Esquadra, Kasa de la Muntanya, a
squatted place that has existed for 25 years.
According to the media, which as usual are proving their role as police
spokespersons, the goal of these arrests is to break up “a criminal
organisation with terrorist goals and a violent anarchist character”.
Although it seems easy to repeat an often used phrase, we will do it
anyway: the only criminal organisation that terrorises people with its
violent character is the State and its tentacles: the media, the juridical
apparatus, its repressive bodies and its politicians, whatever spectre
they belong to. (more…)

(Translated by Sin Banderas Ni Fronteras from Contrainfo, edited by 325)
If I could choose a different life, I would not change it for anything.
I perfectly remember the feeling that invaded me when I began to
question authority, I remember the many contradictions and questions. In
this discovery of ideas I found many people that made material practices
of the ideas in their libraries, publications, ateneos, etc… in their
everyday life … to live ideas here and now. It did not take long for me
to think that I would like to do the same.
I remember the anguish I felt when I heard that there were comrades
imprisoned for putting into practice the ideas of freedom ideas; brothers
of ideas in all corners of the world in the jaws of the panoptic beast. That
distressed feeling never changed, but it is accompanied by the gesture
We are many, the anarchists on the other side of the great wall, on
Tuesday December 16 this list became more extensive.
Tentacles of power dropped into anarchists spaces, libertarían ateneos,
squatted house and homes of several anarchists of Catalonia and Madrid.
Hunting and capturing eleven comrades, of these, seven were imprisoned,
accused of belonging to an armed group of terrorist nature. It is not a
coincidence that the detainees are part of my immediate environment, indeed,
more than half of them frequently visit me in jail. The judicial-police
mallet has punished solidarity.
I can not keep silent before such misery, the state´s repressive revenge
borders on delirium. The media (spokesmen for the rulers) talk about bosses
and subordinates, I stress to them and anyone who has any doubt, we are
anti-authoritarian, no one is above me, nor am I above anyone!
Spaces attacked in Catalunya were not arbitrary, firstly, Kasa de la
Muntanya is an important squatting symbol, with its 25 years away from
the capitalist logic which have made its contribution to many generations
of dissidents to this system of terror. The Libertarian Ateneos and
anarchist spaces that were hit have never hidden their ideals,
providing a fertile ground for sowing the seeds of freedom.
The costs in this struggle for the recovery of our lives is very high,
nobody said it would be easy, but undoubtedly if I could choose a
different life, I would not change it for anything. In this fight
against domination there are no cages or walls to silence our voices,
but without you, comrades, it will only become echoes.
If you, recently jailed loved comrades, can read these words, I tell you
that I am certain you will remain incorruptible and rise to the occasion
as you have always done.
I remember every time I read or heard that solidarity is a necessary
weapon for anarchists. Today I hope that those memories come true…
… to turn our ideas into action.

At least 15 people were arrested during raids in Spain on December 17th for being part of an “anarchist terror organization” in what the Spanish government is calling #OperacionPandora.
At quarter past five, an operation consisting of Mossos d’Esquadra mobilized to carry out an operation against the Libertario movement. So far, the Mossos have raided the Kasa de la Montanya, the Libertarian Ateneo de Sant Andreu, the Anarchist Ateneo de Poble Sec and several private homes.
On orders from the Spanish National Court, in an operation ordered by Judge Javier Gómez Bermúdez, the agents have raided the Kasa de la Muntanya, a squat which this year celebrates twenty five years of occupation. They busted the main entrance of the house to gain access while a police helicopter with spotlights hovered over the building. The twenty inhabitants of the house had to retreat into the gym whilst the police forced entry into the building. At the time of the police raid, the building had two children aged five and six years. The Mossos separated one of the kids from his father on the ground floor.
The police confiscated all mobile phones, laptops and computer devices that were found on the premises. Agents seized all types of documentation, while numerous electric home workshop tools were also confiscated in order to help the police construct their narrative.
About fifty people installed a roadblock on Travessera de Dalt, in a spontaneous act of solidarity with the Kasa de la Muntanya, until riot police dispersed them a few minutes after eight o’clock. Subsequently the solidarity group moved to the Plaza Lesseps and called for more protests.
From the outside of the house located in the neighborhood of Gràcia district Salut, witnesses heard several firecrackers and said they could see in lights of several flashlights inside the building. The police operation is made up of agents from the Information Division of the Mossos d’Esquadra, accompanied by a large number of members of the Mobile Brigade which, among other tasks, formed a perimeter around the whole area and denied any access to the home.

“Distance keeps us apart, feelings unite us” – A letter from imprisoned anarchist comrade Monica Caballero (Spain)
Friday, December 5th, 2014
From RadioAzione – Translated from Italian by Actforfreedomnow:
The coming days will be full of intense emotion: the anniversary of Sebastian’s irreparable loss in December and already in November a year has passed since I was jailed.
I remember when I heard about Sebastian’s death, it was like a bucket of cold water (bad company in the cold nights of Madrid). The loss of a comrade is always a something horrible but now I am able to remember it and feel proud of having had such a dignified comrade.
We who are building a different reality must remember our brothers and sisters, otherwise only a pile of police reports and journalists’ obituaries will remain of them. The fall of an anti-authoritarian in this war on the existent cannot just be a cause of sadness, we are also called upon to follow his or her example; and in my case it is an immense joy to remember the beautiful lives of those who never bowed down in order to storm the heavens.
Even if it might seem repetitive, Angry [Sebastian O. Seguel] lives in our thoughts. Distance separates us, feelings unite us.
I shall take advantage of this moment lost in memories to make a short analysis of my situation. I’ll begin by going over the reasons for my arrest.
On 13/11/13 the police captured me, my comrade and another 3 people; they charged us with placing an explosive device that detonated in October 2013 at the Basilica del Pilar (Zaragoza); conspiracy to commit another attack, which would allegedly have taken place at the Monastery of the Virgin in Montserrat (Barcelona); and belonging to an armed gang. All this on the basis of the antiterrorism law.
The organization they say we belong to is the Comando Insurreccional Mateo Morral, a group that claimed the placing of two devices: the one at the Cathedral of Almudena (Madrid) and the other that of the Basilica del Pilar (Zaragoza).
Strangely, the charges also include belonging to FAI-FRI and GAC (coordinated anarchist groups), while there is no reference to these acronyms in the claims for the attacks.
One of the main reasons for the action of the Spanish repressive forces is the reports provided by their Chilean colleagues. Since we (Francisco and I) put foot on Iberian soil, the Chilean police have been doing their utmost to avenge their ridicule following the ‘Caso Bombas’, where both of us were acquitted. The words of Sebastian Piñera, Chilean President at the time of our arrests, to the Spanish home minister prove what I’m saying.
The charges against Francisco and myself go far beyond whether or not we carried out the actions. Even the judicial apparatus admitted that the charges are politically motivated, the only thing certain they have is that we are anarchists.
I have never denied the ideas that I spread, and this is what they are punishing.
I won’t kiss their cross of repentance, and am quite calm as I am convinced that I struggle for more noble ideals and that they will never stop anti-authoritarian ideas and practices.
Let’s arm our trajectory, without compromise or negotiation.
We won’t stop until we have torn down all the cages.
Death to the State and long live anarchy!

The State calls its own violence Law; that of the individual crime. Lawbreaking, then – so the individual’s violence is called; and only by crime does he break the State’s violence when he thinks that the State is not above him, but rather he is above the State. – Max Stirner
These days, almost 10 months since my incarceration in the prisons of the Spanish State, I needed to give out these words to you dear comrades, who struggle for the abolition of every authority and the integral development of every individual.
Today, at the security level, anarchism is one of the major concerns of many Western (and some Eastern) States; in this witch-hunt aimed at informal antiauthoritarians anything goes, this repressive hysteria is inherent in the conquest of total liberation, it is as old as the acratist ideas. Therefore, a momentary or prolonged visit to one of the placid monuments of human extermination awaits all those who try to confront or simply question the prevailing order. (more…)

The following interview was given by the Assembly for the Antispeciesist Action in May 2013 and published by comrades in Spain in October, in the 2nd volume of the anarchist animal liberation zine “Fiera”.
In which context did the Assembly for the Antispeciesist Action in Athens arise? Which are your goals and what are the difficulties you are facing in realizing these goals?
The Assembly for the Antispeciesist Action was formed in 2010 on an individual initiative. We are an anarchist collective whose goal is to spread the word on total liberation. We feel it is important to note that by using the term “total liberation” we do not only refer to the struggle against any form of domination upon humans. We do not recognize any form of human superiority against other species and therefore the struggle for animal self-determination is an integral part of our political identity, as well as the struggle against nature’s exploitation. Our enemy is not only the core of the state mechanism but also the whole technological-industrial complex that considers human, animals and nature to be nothing more than raw material and production resources. Madrid: Fierce Resistance as Neo-Nazi group ‘MSR’ opens ‘white Spanish only’ occupied center (Spain)
Tuesday, September 16th, 2014
Series of big anti-nazi demos against fascist squatters… Anti-fascists seize ‘white Spanish only’ food stall and distribute to all.. Fascist squatters may have owners permission… Squatters movement disowns fascist squat… Police turn blind eye to nazi “okupas” in Tetuan barrio…. Fascist thugs from MSR squat injure local youths.. Media equates nazi’ Social Home’ with long existing popular and anti racist Squat center ‘La Enrededera’ to demand its eviction.
Thousands of neighbours have come out against the nazi squat.
They are not squatters: they are Nazis.
On 18 August, the neo-Nazi group Social Republican Movement (MSR) announced on social media their entry into an abandoned building in Madrid’s Tetuan barrio and their intention to turn it into a social center for ‘those in need’ provided they were white and of Spanish nationality.
Opening such center in the district with the largest migrant population of Madrid and the opposition it generated among neighbors attracted media attention, especially after the massive demonstration against held the same day as opening of the center, on August 30.
Since then, it has been common to see the press referred to the center as a “squatted building” and members of the neo-Nazi group as “squatters” in an error which is then repeated in social networks. The center is equated with the squatting movement, which has always had among its main objectives the recovery of abandoned homes to become social centers and buildings.
This assimilation was false, but the reality mattered little. (more…)

In the early hours of Friday August 29, 2014 the ambassador of the Spanish state’s mansion walls in Quito were painted in solidarity with Mónica Caballero, Francisco Solar and the rest of the State’s prisoners. This action was framed inside of the International Week of Solidarity with anarchist prisoners. Although the damage was not much and due to logistical problems the actions was not carried out in all of its splendor, any attack against the State’s institutions and its representatives should be celebrated. The same night the Israeli embassy was attacked as well, tearing down its dirty flag in support of the Palestinian people and the “Anarchists against the wall” organization.
Their mansions will be converted into their gallows, our prisons into their death sentences. From the city of Quito all support and solidarity with imprisoned compas.
Long live the vandal nights!
Long live the insurrection!

Nazi squat ‘Ramiro Ledesma’ in Madrid burned and painted with slogan-threat. Call today 30th August at 18:00 for antifascist action. Fire was set at the door of the fascist social centre and a slogan written “Get out of our neighborhoods” on the facade. The industrial building was ‘squatted’ early last week by a group of Nazi-Fascist “Republican Social Movement” (MSR), in the district of Tetuan, Madrid, named ‘Ramiro Ledesma’, and it suffered an assault in the early hours of yesterday.

On Wednesday, August 6, 2014, comrade Gabriel Pombo Da Silva finally came out of provisional isolation (which had been set in A Lama on June 17) to be transferred to the prison of Topas (Salamanca). He arrived there on Friday, August 8th and is now in a single cell.
However, we were notified again about the intervention on all communications (written, telephone and visits). The prison administration also has an arsenal of measures to punish, abuse and get revenge on those, like Gabriel, Francisco, Monica and many others, who refuse to lower their heads and submit.
These include repeated attempts to break relationships and the difficult (and for some impossible) contact with the outside, or by separating him from his friends by imposing wing transfers- just like that which happened only 3 days after his arrival in Topas prison. (more…)
