Operation Commander Rubar Qamishlo – Beginning of Phase Two (Kurdistan)
ROJAVA, Cizîrê – A military campaign – Operation Commander Rubar Qamishlo – that was initiated by members of the People’s/Women’s Defense Units on 6th May with the objective of entirely liberating the rural district of Canton Cizîrê, Rojava from terrorist threats, endures successfully on the 21st continuous day.
Completing Phase One of this campaign on May 21, our forces so far have been able to liberate terrorist-occupied Kezwan Heights, Alya triangular and Assyrian villages near Khabur River in Cizîrê region – and they are now continuing to conduct their operations as part of Phase Two of the mentioned campaign to the southwest of Serêkaniyê town.
Defense Units yesterday, May 26, could impose a full-scale siege on Mabroukah after rescuing Shara and Til Qilea villages earlier on May 25; initiating a finishing assault operation on the small town in southwest Serêkaniyê. In order to break the barrier, the terrorists tried to carry out a counter-attack on Abu-Shakhat village on the same area – but they faced our troops’ severe response and failed to realize their aims, as 5 militants were confirmed killed there.
In the evening hours of May 26 another attack was attempted by terrorist forces on Shara village where 2 VBIEDs were deployed toward our Units’ fighting positions. Yet our forces managed to similarly defuse the two vehicles and effectively defeated the attacks.
The failure of terrorists’ last resorts let our forces to advance on Mabroukah of two axis, and fortify their initiative in that location after clashes that lasted overnight. Search and mop-up operations are continuing in Mabroukah, the operation’s related outcomes will be shared through a balance sheet once operationally possible.
Assaults and clashes in Mabroukah area have caused martyrdom of four of our comrades who confidently joined and contributed to Operation Commander Rubar Qamishlo from the first day it was launched.
