War against ISIS/Daesh: Girê Spî Rescue Operation Accomplished in Effect – Defense Units Continue to Operate in Rural Girê Spî (Kurdistan)

CIZÎRÊ, Rojava (June 16, 2015) – Following Phase II of Operation Commander Rubar Qamishlo, on the 41st uninterrupted day, combined forces of the People’s/Women’s Defense Units (YPG/YPJ) – joined by the Burkan al-Firat Operations Room fighters from both Kobanê and Cizîrê Cantons, Rojava continue to conduct their military operations in and around the city of Girê Spî (Tell Abyad).

After reaching a joint point, our forces from the two Cantons of Kobane and Cizire could inflict a full blockade on the city of Girê Spî and more than 40 surrounding villages. At the evening of June 15 Defense Units moved to carry out a final assault rescue operation on those besieged locations where Daesh (ISIS) terrorists were positioned in retreat. Heavy clashes were erupted between our forces and the terrorist groups engaging the attack in a desperate attempt to break the siege.

During the past 24 hours, according to field verifications, at least 124 terrorist fighters were killed. Along with over 60 of terrorists’ corpses, our troops could capture a large number of weapons, ammunition and different types of military equipment.

As the final result of conducting resolute operations for more than 40 days, Defense Units yesterday were ultimately able to successfully end terrorists’ occupation on the town of Girê Spî. As today, mop-up operations for the two last neighborhoods of the city were completed and combing process advanced to the countryside of the strategic border location.

Two Sides of Resistance First Merged Together

GIRE SPI, Rojava – Expanding their advance from two axis, combined forces of the People’s/Women’s Defense Units, alongside the Burkan al-Firat join operations fighters, on June 15, 2015 could penetrate deep into Daesh (ISIS) stronghold of Raqqa, root out the terrorists from the border city of Gire Spi (Tel Abyad) and by capturing control of Akçakale border crossing with north Kurdistan, Turkey, they managed to cut off the group’s main supply gullet into Syria that has already poisoned the region with flood of foreign mercenaries that it helped to bring in.

In this manner, the joint forces led by YPG through conducting a major military campaign commenced since May 6, Operation Commander Rubar Qamishlo, the biggest military exercise in terms of duration and impact to date in Rojava – could also contribute to the end of a two-year siege on the city of Kobane which itself was the location of a significant 134-day resistance combat wherein several civilians were killed and more than four hundred of Defense Units combatants sacrificed their lives to defeat five thousands of Daesh terrorists. Our combatants on June 15 could meet once again with their brethren in Kobane where they received a hearty welcome both by the people in the city and local units who together expressed clear signs of inspirations of resilience within their joy.

Connection of Cizire (Jazira) and Kobane Cantons that occurs in light of the operational and organizational aspects of Gire Spi liberation campaign sets forth objectives of providing and maintaining security for more than 400 kilometers (250 miles) of Rojava, Syrian border with Turkey that will be achieved over combination of initiative on the city in the coming days and weeks, this large campaign will also set the scene for Rojava’s long term defense, management and development projects of its region against terrorism and terror sympathy.

June 17: Enduring Military Operations Against Daesh (ISIS) Terrorists Near Girê Spî and Kobanê

CIZIRE, Rojava (June 17, 2015) – Following a decisive campaign on the 42nd uninterrupted day, combined forces of the People’s/Women’s Defense Units, alongside fighters from the Burkan al-Firat (Euphrates Volcano) Joint Operations Room from both Kobanê and Cizîrê Cantons continue to maintain and advance a major move against Daesh (ISIS) terrorist group around the city of Girê Spî (Tal Abyad).

Yesterday, June 16, an assault operation was led by our forces on the terrorist-occupied villages amid the extent between Kobanê and Girê Spî; resulted in liberation of a number of the villages there. Mop-up operations are currently proceeding in a broad rural district within the noted region.

Conducting search operations near Girê Spî, along with 15 corpses of Daesh terrorists, our troops were able to seize 36 AK rifles, an anti-materiel sniper rifle, 3 PK machine guns, 1 RPG rocket launcher, 12 RPG rockets, 20 hand grenades, 5 big radio transceivers, 3 walkie-talkies, 2 military vehicles and a large supply of ammunition for AK and PK.

Military operations conducted as part of Phase II Operation Commander Rubar Qamishlo are to endure in force.

June 18: Defense Units Continued to Operate Against Daesh (ISIS) Terrorists in Rural Girê Spî

CIZIRE, Rojava (June 18, 2015) – Following a deciding campaign on its 43rd uninterrupted day, combined forces of the People’s/Women’s Defense Units (YPG / YPJ), alongside fighters from the Burkan al-Firat (Euphrates Volcano) Joint Operations Room from both Kobanê and Cizîrê (Jazira) Cantons continue to maintain and advance a major move against Daesh (ISIS) terrorist group around the city of Girê Spî (Tal Abyad).

Our forces since the evening of yesterday, June 17, from the town of Silûk and nearby are advancing from two axis towards the south. An operation has been commenced there to secure and take initiative for the two roads from Raqqa and Ayn Isa to Canton Cizîrê; this advance is to be continued. Within the past 24 hours, the villages of Sekhra, Khazuga, Til Tewîla, Ca’fer, Bîr Etîyê, Genterî, Tirwazîye, 15 more villages with undisclosed names and a power boost center on the International Road have been effectively liberated from Daesh terrorists.

In Nevala Hutê area, 12 kilometers to the south of the town Silûk, our troops could discover and capture control of a huge pit that Daesh terrorists in their execution videos threw civilians in after brutally killing them.

The attacks in the past 24 hours have led to the killing of at least 25 terrorist fighters.

Noted military operations were conducted as part of Phase II Operation Commander Rubar Qamishlo to oppose, reject and eliminate Daesh terrorists and their threats on Kobanê and Cizîrê regions, Rojava – and they are to endure in force.
