Genoa, Italy: Italian Institute of Technology attacked by FAI/FRI – Immediate Action Group

IT – Italia: Attaccato Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia

(12/24/2018)

In the early hours of December 24th we attacked the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT).
H24 [security company] surveillance at the receptions and private security in the car were not a good deterrent; we were determined to attack you and we did it! The IIT is the flagship of the Italian state and is a foundation for technological development and national policies in favor of science and technology. It works to strengthen the markets and policies of looting and devastation every day committed by capital and government.

It carries out neuroscience studies, “brain technologies” and genetic research for the manipulation of living things. Active in nanotechnology, conducting research on nanomaterials and their use, as well as on the development of materials for converting and storing energy, which today’s production system needs in huge quantities to maintain the speed of the mad rush of progress.

In addition to iCub, in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence, they perfect robots for industrial production.

In the service of capital and the police state that assures it, they are engaged in the creation of systems of “computer vision” for systems useful for identification and social control.

In line with this, in the research of computational sciences, it deepens the study of “big data”, creating programs and structures for these vast data collections (video, audio and images) necessary for the techno-industrial society. These algorithms produce the wealth of the great lobbies that dominate the capitalist world because they are applied to computer sciences, AI, biotechnology, the industries of war and military research; they realize exponential possibilities for this deadly order of domination and exploitation, of looting the territories for the resources paid for with the blood that flows into the Mediterranean and that of all the exploited.

We do not profess any act of faith in the technoscientific doctrine, rather, by highlighting its oppressive applications, we have decided to attack it. The ever more fluid technological sector, inserted into everyday life and life in all its forms, is constantly advancing. It ranges from goods to which we are dependent on civil, military and aerospace industries; from transhumanism to artificial intelligence, from the development of telecommunications to smart homes, into intelligent cities, to intelligent wars and an increasingly stupid humanity. The consequences are devastating in the looted territories and in the lives of so many oppressed people, whose existence guarantees the wealth of the many oppressors.

When this society is bowing its head, then it is the management of mass opinion to create consensus. We do not care about consent. We are interested in fighting oppression. This is the conscience that we oppose against science.

Many words have been spent against technology and the atrocities of the techno-industrial society. For what concerns us, who produces it, who finances it, who develops it, these are not themes of opinion but objectives to be struck.
Opinionism and consensus are weapons of democracy. Against the state, a master in the management of capital’s needs with violence, the only possible answer is the revolutionary initiative.

Technology is not neutral. In fact, behind the “green” facades and the proposals of the ecological markets that even manages to recuperate dissent, the right and left governments open the taps of funding to the laboratories and research centers, maintained by the ministries of economy, finance and implemented in networks between institutions, private individuals and universities. Through its patents and its projects, scientific research has long entered the political sector of the state and the economic sector of the capital. Presidents, ministers and luminaries are arm in arm in “development programs” and in financial maneuvers.

Technology is profit. It operates on a level as one of the cornerstones that governs global relationships between states. Always in the interests of power, despite the alleged antipathies and the real threats of nuclear war. This is demonstrated by the recent “commercial wars”.

The critique of technology and its prophets is carried out through action. This concept can be extended to all the contexts of struggle that want to create conflict.
The offensive against the state and capital lies in the revolutionary action that seeks to overthrow them.

We have attacked.
We accompany this gesture with this claim because we feel it is necessary that our words find the spaces that are not censured, diverted or distorted of meaning, and so that our actions are not either. In the times of the free opinion of ignorance, anarchist propaganda, which democracy represses, censors, controls and affects, must also be expressed through action. The attack is a constant that if set aside means surrender, it means to be buried in analysis, in reflection, in theory.

Without action, anarchism loses its strength.

With these words accompanied by the facts we launch the invitation to the offensive.
As long as we do not increase the indissoluble union between thought and action, we will have no idea what we are facing.
We will not have the best “alternative life” until there will be nothing but rubble in this world of oppressors.
This is just a good place to start.
