'March for England' – Anti-fascists beat the Nazis off the streets of Brighton again! (UK)

Monday, April 28th, 2014

¡No Pasarán!

From inthebellyofthebeast:

The annual March for England portrayed as a patriotic protest on St Georges day is an excuse for the fascist scum of the EDL (English Defence League) to plague the streets of Brighton. This year they got was coming to them when they were out numbered by 2,000 anti-fascists coming from all across the country.

The march this year was shortened due to the collapse of the road at the sea front. (even nature did not want the fascists to march) As usual the march was confronted on its route but restricted by a massive police presence with forces even being shipped in from as far as Cornwall. Also included on the day was the much loved TSG (Tactical Support Group, extremely violent militant police unit) and extensive fencing that included mobile barricades that closed off all streets reaching the beach front where the march was proceeding.

Anti-fascists on the day had no illusions that march at the sea would be impregnable and chose to roam the city centre of Brighton in affinity groups seeking the fascists who would be walking down from the railway station, with some drinking in pubs away from the march looking for a fight with those they are against such as anyone who is not white or skin headed, such as the racist attacks that happened last year after the march. Calais: Fascist attacks continue against Rue Émile Dumont, Coulogne & call-out for assembly (France)

Monday, February 24th, 2014

Read this: Calais: Communiqué from people inside Rue Émile Dumont, Coulogne

325 receives and transmits:

UPDATE 8AM Monday 24/2:

Local Calais media are reporting the demonstration of around 50 racists continued through Sunday. The fire brigade were called after a group of men were spotted nearby by neighbours with jerrycans of petrol to prepare more molotov cocktails.

ASSEMBLY AGAINST FASCISM AND FOR TOLERANCE. AND SOLIDARITY

Call-out from anti-racist residents of Calais.

Gathering with music and dance, words and food.

Saturday 1 March 2.30 PM. Place d’Armes, Calais.

We are indignant to see that hundreds of people are living in the street whilst houses are empty and abandoned. Indignant about the passivity or hostility of the authorities and for the demonstrations of fascist hatred in these last days.

These fascists do not represent Calais. There are also many more people who have been engaged for years, as individuals or with groups, in hospitality and openness.

Whether we are long term residents of Calais or passing through, we will come to share a moment of tolerance and solidarity.

More information: here and here.

New animation film about anti-fascist resistance in Magdeburg (Germany)

Sunday, October 6th, 2013

‘Magdeburg is a city in the east of Germany: there is disruption created by an annual parade of fascists claiming to commemorate the casualties of an allied air strike that happened during the Second World War.

The emphasis they place on the nature of these casualties as victims could have the effect of distracting people’s attention from the atrocities performed by the Nazis themselves during the war, and from their role as the instigators of the conflict.’

Anti-Fascist Network statement on Saturday 7th September EDL demonstration (UK)

Wednesday, September 11th, 2013

demo-london-7913

The Metropolitan Police arrested over 280 anti-fascist activists, local community members, and passersby in East London on 7 September, as up to 700 English Defence League supporters were allowed to march over Tower Bridge and rally at Aldgate without encountering any mass opposition.

A large community demonstration was restricted to Altab Ali Park, well out of sight of the EDL’s march route and rally point. A bloc of around 600 within the demonstration, coordinated by the Anti-Fascist Network (AFN), attempted to hold a march to get within sight of the EDL’s route and present a visible opposition, which was then blocked and kettled by police. Despite police attacks the front of the AFN bloc did manage to get within sight of the EDL march, meaning the only political opposition the racists saw on the day was a direct result of the AFN mobilisation. Antifascist Attack in Bristol (UK)

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

At 3am on Tuesday morning (August 6th) the County Sports Club on Colston Street was attacked. 4 windows were smashed each with 2 panes and SMASH FASCISM was painted on the wall. On July 13th the County Sports Club allowed Close Shave to play, a fascist punk band that have played regularly with Screwdriver and on the bill of Rock Against Communism. Their lyrics advocate bringing back the death penalty for immigrants and gays amongst other things.

Let this be a warning when polite requests fail. Anyone supporting or promoting the racism, homophobia and totalitarianism of the far right (or left) deserves this kind of treatment.

For freedom of movement and freedom of sexuality!

For freedom.

Anarchist anti-fascists from Kazan need your solidarity (Russia)

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013

Four anarchist anti-fascists from Kazan, Oleg Kapustyanov, Ruslan Rostov, Timur Dornonin and Artyom Sher are currently in remand prison. Fifth suspect, Dmitri Ilichev is under traveling restrictions. Goal of the imprisonment is to pressure them to plea guilty.

Universiade, Nazis and police

This year Universiade, the international competition of the university sports, which finished 17th of July, was organized in Kazan. For the mainstream media, this was a merry and long waited sports event. But for inhabitants of Kazan, it was a torture, and for social activists of the city, it was a plain hell.

And the hell began 3th of April, when officers of Kazan «E-Center» (Center of Counteraction against Extremism») searched homes of four anarchist anti-fascist students — Dmitri Ilichev, Oleg Kapustyanov, Ruslan Rostov and Artyom Sher. All four were arrested. Only in the police station they were told that they were suspected of having taken part to a fight which took place one month before. (more…)
