For Clément: with rage in our hearts, never forget, never forgive (France)

Friday, June 21st, 2013

From sudsciencespo:

Wednesday, June 5. Only a few days have passed, yet it seems like it has been an eternity. Since the death of Clément, we have been caught in ceaseless currents of grief. Nothing, perhaps not even the years and the experience that we do not yet have, could prepare us for the death of a friend and comrade. In spite of this, we have not been granted time for mourning, as the murder of Clément was a political murder. And a murder such as this requires a political response.

The world has not stopped out of respect for our tears, so we, out of respect for Clement, cannot stop in turn. We need to raise our heads, turn our pain into anger and our rage into strength. We want the immense pain, the irrepressible anger, rage, and strength which live in these words, to give Clément’s death the meaning he would have wanted to give it: a political meaning. (more…)

Tuesday, June 18th, 2013

Dmitri Zvanko – is anti-fascist from Brest. He was arrested 9th of May 2013, as one of 5 anti-fascists who were suspected of fighting with far-right activists the day before. Arrested anti-fascists were beaten up and put under psychological pressure by cops, Dmitri filed a complaint about his treatment although he was pressured not to do so. On the 19th of May four of the arrested were released, but Dmitri was charged with statute 339.3 of the Belarusian criminal codex (malicious hooliganism with a group of people), which carries a prison sentence from 3 to 10 years. Lawyers are afraid that statute 147.2 (grievous bodily harm) may be added, which would mean a prison sentence between 5 and 10 years.

Anti-fascist Alexey Olesinov released pending trial in Moscow (Russia)

Wednesday, June 12th, 2013

On the 7th of June, anti-fascist Alexey “Shkobar” Olesinov was released pending trial. The Moscow city court made a decision on appeal against his detention, filed by Olesinov’s lawyer Svetlana Sidorkina. The court released Olesinov, as the most serious charges against him (causing grievous bodily harm, statute 111 of the Russian criminal codex) were dropped in late May.

The lawyer of Olesinov said that the police investigator responsible did not even appear in the court.

The release of Olesinov means that it is highly likely that his co-defendant Alexey Sutuga will be released as well. However, unlike Olesinov, Sutuga has no permanent registration in the Moscow region, which means that it is highly likely that a bail of up to one million rubles (50,000 euros) will be demanded. For more information about fundraising for the bail of Sutuga, check here.

Full statement : Newcastle 14 anti fascist defence campaign (UK)

Saturday, June 1st, 2013

325 receives and transmits this statement. We have total solidarity with the arrested anti-fascists, but we state our position against the defence of “democracy” as is advocated in the following statement, in accordance with our anarchist principles.

At approximately 12:40 on Saturday 25 May 2013, 14 anti-fascists were arrested outside the Haymarket metro station in Newcastle as they were about to join the Newcastle Unites march against the English Defence League (EDL). The youngest of those arrested was just 15. There is substantial evidence that members of Newcastle Unites played a part in the arrests. All those arrested had their homes raided while they were in custody, and police have seized mobile phones, computers, cameras, notebooks and political literature. The protesters were released without charge 10 hours later, in the middle of the night at a police station on the outskirts of Newcastle. They have been bailed until 7 August 2013. (more…)

Sunday, April 7th, 2013

Last autumn, a longstanding case against Nizhni Novgorod anti-fascists was returned to investigation, and for a while it seemed like a final victory (see http://avtonom.org/en/author_columns/background-nizhni-novgorod-victory). However, in contrary to these expectations, the case returned to court this spring and things do not look too good.

Pavel Krivonosov is one of the accused of the fabricated case. He is a social activist, a musician and anarchist. As the set-up has been going for a while, number of charges passed the statute of limitations and were tossed out from the court – political “extremist” charges included. Is Indonesia heading towards Fascism?

Sunday, January 27th, 2013

Some observations on the crisis and new terror laws.

A series of recent laws are highlighting a political trend in Indonesia. New laws on Dealing with Social Conflict and Intelligence are already ratified, and three other similar regulations are still in the pipeline: concerning National Security, Military Reserve Forces and Societal Organisations. Not only are these laws terrorising civil liberties and social movements, but they are also laying the basis for the growth of fascism in Indonesia.

The terror of ‘terrorist legislation’.

In the proposed law on societal organisations, when civil society forms groups or alliances, they are viewed as a threat to security and national politics. The proposed law would place strict controls on the growth of societal organisations, regulating both their formation and their activities. This is an attempt to restrict the freedom to organise. Under the new law, each organisation would have to be approved by the interior ministry and the law and human rights ministry, obliging them to obtain a permit to operate and make reports on their activities and the funding they receive.
