Stunning Like Marrasi in Flames (Italy)

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

This video clip is taken from ‘Detour’, an Italian-made film about the severe disturbances in Genoa, Italy, during the 2001 anti-G8 summit. The summit was marked by extreme pre-planned police brutality with a large number of detainees who were systematically abused and beaten. Some prisoners were made to grovel on the floor like dogs whilst guards simulated sex with them, some made to sing fascist songs and salute pictures of Mussolini. During the riots the Black Bloc attacked the administrative offices of Marrasi prison, attempting to burn down the section of the prison guards.

The overlaid narrative actually describes the liberation of Newgate prison, London, during the ‘Gordon Riots’ of 1780. The riots were the largest municipal insurrection in the 18th Century, in a time that saw several others across the world. It was “a motley crew, and of every colour”, The insurgent masses were working class, multi-racial, and fought for liberty against the slavery and confinement enforced by the rich. The insurrection had the aristocrats besieged and houses destroyed, the bosses and upper-classes armed themselves with military encampments and checkpoints. Parliament and the Bank of England was attacked. Newgate, the largest and most terrible dungeon, was liberated amid such fire and destruction that one spectator felt “as if not only the whole metropolis was burning, but all nations yielding to the final consummation of things.”

Letter from M.Nikolopoulos and G.Tsakalos, anarchist prisoners (Greece)

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Note: The hunger-strike mentioned in this letter has ended on the 11/2/2011. Here is the letter from the comrades explaining their decision. Long Live the International Revolutionary Network.

4/2/2011

We are experiencing all over Greece a period which at the same time is one of the most critical moments and one of the biggest bets of the anarchist revolutionary movement. Sovereignty steps on the qualitative and quantitative raising of the benchmark of hostilities from our side, increasing more and more the intensity of repression. The arrests of comrades, the publication of photographs, the raids in houses, and the more general climate of diffuse fear that is attempted to be imposed are a piece of this counter-attack. (more…)

ANNOUNCEMENT OF ENDING THE HUNGER STRIKE OF THE FOUR DEFENDANTS OF THE REVOLUTIONARY ORGANISATION CONSPIRACY OF CELLS OF FIRE

11/2/11

This text is written as a statement to announce the end of the hunger strike that we had begun on Thursday 3-2-2011. We know that such type of actions and forms of struggle leave their prints on the history of the revolutionary subversive movement, and hence have a public character and are exposed to any criticism. Taking into consideration, therefore, that we are stopping the strike before our demand is satisfied and at a very short time after the start our mobilisation, we decided to make a public statement carrying out an assessment of our mobilization from the beginning of our trial until now. Freedom for Arturo and Guido (Italy)

Friday, February 11th, 2011

From Nunatak:

Arturo and Guido, two of the comrades that are writing for Nunatak (a magazine of stories, cultures and struggles of the mountains), were arrested last night while participating in a demo in Condove (Susa Valley) trying to stop a train loaded with nuclear waste liquid Castor from the Garigliano reactor. The presence of a few dozen people made it possible to stop this train of death, but not to return home safely for all the protesters. They have done something for all of us, now it’s up to us to do something for them.

Freedom for Arturo and Guido!
Stop the Nuclear!

Your comrades of Nunatak.

Update on the Trial of Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, Athens (Greece)

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

24 & 25 January 2010

On Monday, January 24, the second day of the trial of the accused in the case of Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, the court rejected both claims of the accused: to have the minutes of the proceedings recorded (“Due to high costs” said the tribunal bozos!) and for the identity papers of those entering the courtroom not to be withheld. … The defendants left the court, revoked their defence lawyers and stated that they will abstain from prison food and go on hunger strike if the court appointed lawyers (which it did).

Critique of the attitudes of the journalists. The statement of the six accused prisoners, agreed by the three comrades* on bail, was read by George Karagiannidis who said: “We are adamant about the retaining of our comrades’ particulars. “

G. Karagiannidis spoke of the repressive nature of the measure said the defendants want to take their voices beyond the walls of the prison.

The statement made reference to the journalists, who “misleadingly report directly from the counter-terrorist cops They have reported on our personal lives and those of our families, so they too are exposed.”

When the accused left the prison/court dozens of comrades shouted slogans and many of them raised their fists shouting “Tough, tough, be proud and strong.”

* The three comrades Vogiatzakis, Rallis and Giospas who are free on bail claimed that they have nothing to fear, but said that under these circumstances they cannot attend and do not want to go to trial with lawyers whom they do not know.

25 January 2011 – The trial of those accused of involvement in the organization “Conspiracy of Cells of Fire” was stopped this morning and will resume on Thursday. The court proceeded to appoint new defence lawyers, but of the 18 lawyers appointed, only four came forward and stated that they refuse to accept the appointment. As said by the lawyers who refused to take their defence, the case is too serious and the defendants themselves do not wish to be represented. Finally, the court was suspended until Thursday with the appointment of two new lawyers per defendant.

FROM ACTFORFREEDOMNOW!

Freedom to H.Hadjimihelakis, P. Argirou, G.Tsakalos who have taken the political responsibility for the “Conspiracy Cells of Fire” and P.Massouras, K.Karakatsani, A.Mitrousias, G.Karagiannidis who are imprisoned for the same case.

Solidarity to all imprisoned anarchists and revolutionaries.

Marco Camenisch has been transferred again (Switzerland)

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

The anarchist prisoner Marco Camenisch has been transferred to another prison already a second time in half a year. This time he has been moved to Lenzburg in Aargau. We don’t yet know the reason for this. But it is clear, that for prisoners each transfer means great stress: new situation, new regime, new harassment. Marco needs our solidarity! He is doing time as a political prisoner for almost 20 years.

Send your letters in solidarity to:

Santiago Central Women's Penitentiary – Andrea Urzúa Cid in solidarity with the CCF on trial in Greece (Chile)

Sunday, January 23rd, 2011

From hundreds of kilometres away

“to be at war is not a different way of managing society. It is, irreducibly and irreconcilably, ideas about happiness and its worlds. Power knows this, and so do we … “
Invisible Committee

In a couple of hours the trial of the Greek comrades will begin, some of them with enthralling courage have claimed militance in the anarcho-revolutionary group Conspiracy of Cells of Fire. Their commitment as militants of freedom with actions of radicalization for a better life, without structures, without stereotypes or any kind of power, the only way for anti-social construction. For all of us a fine example of permanent action for the revolutionary uprising. It is here and now that words and deeds become one. Far from theorising concepts of Revolution, it is concrete actions that show the fury of those of us who yearn to destroy the current state of affairs. Today more than ever we see ourselves in sincere need to create spaces, material and otherwise and self-organization to form a future of conscious individuality, to sow the anti-authoritarian ideas in every corner of the world, with the goal of a better life, away from domination and any form of exploitation.

The current society, founded as a forced association of individuals, will never make possible our dreams of autonomy and freedom. The political-social and economic reality of recent years shows that the modernist criminal system can no longer sustain itself, the spread of the uncontrollable revolutionary idea is putting in check “control and social peace.” That ‘s why the State and power are using as a response their Machiavellian tool- prison. In these moments of physical confinement, my spirit leads me to shout louder than ever:

May solidarity destroy all walls!!

Tear down the prison walls! Subvert any established and imposed moral, and social value!

Greek comrades: from hundreds of miles away I send a strong and fraternal embrace full of inherited love and rage.

Hi, comrades!!

Open letter by Philip and Pepe Mayer about the sycophancies and the puplications by some parrots of the state about our sister (Greece)

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Update: Fei Meyer was released on provisional liberty following disagreements between the investigating judge and the prosecution and for this reason the board decided after giving her provisional liberty that 15 days later she deserved the prison again. The four other accused comrades were taken to Koridallos prison.

In the early morning of October 13, a van belonging to the Public Power Corporation (DEI) was torched in downtown Thessaloniki using an incendiary device made out of camping gas canisters, gasoline, and a fuse. The vehicle was completely incinerated, but 19-year-old comrade Yiannis Skouloudis was caught red-handed. In addition, four comrades (Babis Tsilianidis, Dimitris Dimtsiadis, Sokratis Tzifkas, Dimitris Fessas) were arrested and accused for the same case and now the anti-terrorist cops have arrested the comrade Fei Mayer.

She is accused for participation in a terrorist group (the name of the group has not yet been decided by the cops). Lawyers or information about what she is accused of is considered a luxury for people arrested in Greece, so she doesn’t have any of these. The mass media come to fill the gap of the not-existing evidence, so they have started to transmit surreal scenarios about their parents being members of RAF and other armed groups in Germany. They also “informed” us that her father was killed during a guerrilla action in Germany! Of course, her father is still alive, maybe he is a bit more insecure after he was informed about his death.

The crime of Fei is solidarity and dignity.

The big game that is being played on the back of our sister and our family. With the trial of the defendants for participation in the organization “Conspiracy Cells of Fire” approaching and the explosion in the Administrative Court building remaining unanswered on the side of arrests, it was expected from the state to try to catch a “big fish” and if it cannot, it manufactures it, so that it recovers its lost prestige and demonstrates its strength. Some information about the start of the trial of the comrades members of Conspiracy of Cells of Fire and those accused in the same case in Korydallos prison/court today, 17 January (Greece)

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Early in the morning the atmosphere in Korydallos was asphyxiating .. police everywhere and very few comrades. Around 11 am people gathered on the pavement outside the prison/court to get in. They had to give their ID card and full personal information. The courtroom was full of plainclothes cops. A few people made it to get in. Then the court was stopped and it was stated that nobody would be allowed in without ID and the card would be kept for the duration of the trial. That is illegal since the police only have the right to keep your identity card if you are a witness, or expert witness (according to the procedure). Since, however, it is assumed that the case is not yet closed, they are trying to find more to culprits. Fortunately, the accused comrades refused to speak and left the courtroom.. (more…)

Message From Jock Palfreeman, anti-fascist prisoner (Bulgaria)

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

Jock Palfreeman, a 23 year old Australian with British connections, who spent some time in Bristol, UK, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison in Bulgaria on 2/12/09. He had been on remand at Sofia central prison for 2 years. In Sofia in late December 2007 he intervened when he saw a gang of 15+ Bulgarian football hooligans, with undoubted neo-nazi tendencies, attack 2 Roma (gypsy) people. The gang then attacked Jock with lumps of concrete, and in self-defence he killed one and injured another. The dead man came from a well-known Bulgarian family with political connections. 2 years later after a long eventful trial with many dubious practices and a clear political flavour, Jock was found guilty.

For 3 years my statement of self defence has not changed. And it doesn’t change now. The 3 years have been difficult, but the fact that the judges, prosecutors, private plaintiffs and myself know that I’m innocent brings some comfort.

The false accusers are scared of my case being publicized. Within Bulgaria they have done a very good job of censoring the facts of my case from the Bulgarian language public. In the past year nothing has been mentioned about my case in Bulgarian print nor in TV. In contrast to other languages. (more…)
