Alfredo M. Bonnano Released (Greece)

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

In the 22 November trial of Alfredo and Christos for bank robbery in Trikala, Alfredo M. Bonnano was sentenced to 4 years imprisonment (which practically means that with the time served so far and the fact that he is over 70 years old, he was released). Christos Stratigopoulos (who took responsibility for the action) was sentenced to 8 years and 9 months and with the Greek law will probably be released at the end 2011. (more…)

Freedom for Giannis Dimitrakis (Greece)

Friday, November 12th, 2010

The anarchist Giannis Dimitrakis was arrested heavily wounded after a robbery at a branch of the National Bank in the center of Athens, on January 16th, 2006.

He defended the choice to expropriate a bank, without statements of remorse and with clarity about his motives and intentions. He gave meaning to his act as a moment in his critique and action against the system of wage slavery and exploitation, against the antisocial role of the banks and as a part of the polymorphic social struggle.

Announcement of the three members of Revolutionary Struggle (Greece)

Friday, November 5th, 2010

In the modern junta of the I.M.F., the E.C.B., the E.U. and the Greek government, methods from the Nazi occupation in Greece are being mobilized. Just like when the Nazis attacked the families and the social environment of the guerrillas in order to isolate them and exterminate them easier, today the modern fascists that govern us target families, friends and comrades of ours and of the three comrades that are in prison accused of participating in “Revolutionary Struggle”, in an operation to terrorize a whole political movement, through new persecutions and mass interrogations. SILVIA’S COMMUNICATION FROM THE BIEL’S PRISON

Message for the animal and earth liberation meeting – 10-11-12 September 2010 (ITALY)

Much to my regret, I can not be present at these three so important days, at the first meeting of animal and earth liberation.

But I’m there with you, with my thought and my heart.

I send you this message and a big hug.

We are constantly bombarded by an infinity of toxic substances, released in the air “in the soil” in the rivers and in the seas.

We are submerged by industrial and technological poison. Biotechnologies and technologies are going to identify themselves into the whole fabric of society. (more…)

Anarchist prisoner Marco Camenisch has been transferred (Switzerland)

Monday, October 11th, 2010

Dear comrades,

Marco Camenisch has been transferred from Zurich to a high security prison in Orbe, without even giving him the time to get ready or tell anyone! This happens after 8 years in Zurich, out of the blue and without any warning!

We don’t know the reasons for this, but can make our own conclusions. We think this is due to his recent hunger strike together with Silvia, Billy and Costa; to the international mobilisations around long-term revolutionary prisoners; to his long-term commitment and his contacts with the international movement. Once again the system is trying to isolate him, by transferring him to a high security prison far away.

Solidarity is our weapon: let’s use this weapon by sending cards and greetings to Marco.

Call for International Solidarity to Comrades in Chile

Saturday, September 18th, 2010

Responding to the Call for International Solidarity by the persecuted and rebellious comrades in Chile, we call on people around the world to express their solidarity and in Athens we invite a:

Gathering of Solidarity
on Friday, September 24th at 5pm,
outside of the Chilean Embassy (Bas. Sofias 25- Athens, Greece)

THE PASSION FOR FREEDOM HAS NO BORDERS
THE SAME FOR SOLIDARITY

On August 14th 2010 the Chilean State, under orders of special district attorney Alejandro Pena, began a campaign of oppression against Chilean antagonists, code-named “Salamander.” With invasions into social spaces, occupations and dozens of homes throughout the country, 14 people were arrested and taken to the Nunoa police station. The next day they were led to the courts of Santiago and charged with over 100 bomb attacks made over the past years in all of Chile. The assembly which gathered outside of the courthouse in a display of solidarity was violently suppressed and 40 people were detained.

With the unanimous aid of the mass media in creating a negative climate against the arrestees and without real evidence against them, the court of Santiago ordered that 8 of the 14 be kept in custody until trial. The other 6 were released with restrictive measures, forbidden to leave the country, to communicate with each other, to visit the imprisoned or the social centers and occupations the police had invaded, and that they must present themselves to local authorities every week. The men were taken to C.A.S. maximum security prison and the women to Centro de Orientation Femenina, all in solitary confinement. On Monday September 6th another 2 people were arrested in the context of the “bomb case” spectacle.

Over the past years the democratic facade of the Chilean State, under the guise of financial development, has circumvented most social and union rights and sold off huge portions of land to multinational companies (Benetton) and the logging, livestock and tourism industries, primarily in the south, violently evicting the indigenous Mapuche peoples from their ancestral land. In the Mapuche territories right-wing paramilitary groups guided by rich landowners have become active and terrorize and murder people who choose to resist the plans of the dominant. Conflicts erupt and dozens of indigenous antagonists and arrested and imprisoned. Over 400 people are awaiting trial, most of whom are farmers struggling to regain the land which in the past was stolen by the Chilean army and is now in the hands of multinational logging and energy companies.

Also, since 2009 a special “anti-terrorist” law from the days of the Pinochet dictatorship has been reactivated so as to crack down on the recent upsurge of attacks and unrest in the south of the country, for which the indigenous Mapuche are accused. The controversial law triples the penalties for arson and land occupations and has been used 16 times in the past 10 years. This past summer Mapuche political prisoners began a hunger strike (shortly after by means of court order they were forced into compulsory sustenance) and in September they were followed by imprisoned minors, struggling for the liberation of the political prisoners and the ending of their prosecution.

As social inequalities intensify, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, in all of Chile social resistance strengthens and every demonstration breaks out into conflict while in parallel there are bomb attacks against state and corporate targets. In the context of this social unrest, the pogrom against anarchist/ libertarian comrades is carried out, who by no evidence other than being active in social struggles are considered responsible for the conflicts and the bombings.

From the joint announcement of the Autonomous Social Space and Libertarian Library Jonny Cariqueo and the occupied Social Space and Library Vanzetti, La Crota bikepunk:

“We are the target chosen to cover up the tragedy of the 33 miners and their families, victims of the exploitation of the powerful, and the hunger strike of the Mapuche comrades who are struggling for their land.” “The political and legal fabrication is obvious, the construction of an illegal ‘terrorist’ organization with leaders is schizophrenic. We, as anti authoritarians and anarchists do not believe in, nor do we obey hierarchies, much less orders. That which district attorney Pena calls funding terrorism is called international solidarity. That which the police call “centers of power” are houses in which libraries are built and the people are called upon to face the current reality of exploitation and nonsense, places were social relationships are built far from commercialization, based on values such as solidarity, horizontal relationships, mutual support and self-management.”

Responding to the Call for International Solidarity by the persecuted and rebellious comrades in Chile, we call on people around the world to express their solidarity and in Athens we invite a Gathering of Solidarity on Friday, September 24th at 5pm, outside of the Chilean Embassy (Bas. Sofias 25)

NOTHING IS FINISHED EVERYTHING CONTINUES

Interview of comrade Giorgos Voutsis-Vogiatzis (Greece)

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

(The hearing for the appeal of anarchist comrade George Voutsis-Vogiatzis, arrested for bank robbery, was set for June 7th, 2010 but was postponed for May 6th, 2011. Here’s a translated interview he gave to the newspaper “Proto Thema” on May 9th 2010)

-The tragic account of the march last Wednesday counts three deaths, among them a pregnant woman, which with other victims were locked inside Marfin bank. Murders attributed to the anarchists Molotov…

The emotional and political gap in the last hours after the death of the three workers in the bank from asphyxiation can not be described in words or replaced by actions, counterbalancing or convictions. The value of human life when its not jointly responsible for the criminal plans of authority is the purest in the world. Of course, the anarchist movement is not accountable towards this event. Anarchists are not representatives of abstract violence. Anarchists express revolutionary violence. A violence expressed by targeting state and capital. The operation of de-politicizing the anarchist movement will not work for them again. Anarchists are proving, especially in recent years, through carrying out attacks with Molotov cocktails, gas canisters and other means of action against targets of authority that they never turned against the life of the workers since in every case, people involved in those actions first make sure to evacuate the buildings or attacking them at night when they are closed. 'Conditions in Youth Prisons' by John Bowden (UK)

Friday, August 6th, 2010

In this article, social prisoner John Bowden exposes the violent control methods carried against young people in UK prison. The prison guards who act out their brutal fantasies on young people are not isolated ‘bad’ individuals but part of a de-humanising authoritarian system of exploitation and power. This situation is not simply a case for the United Kingdom, young people are imprisoned in disgusting conditions everywhere, and all these prisons must be torn to the ground with the guards scattered. Fire to the Prisons.

In 2004 15 year old Gareth Myatt died whilst bring “restrained” by three members of staff at a privatized children’s prison called Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre in Warwickshire. In the same year 14 year old Adam Rickwood hanged himself in another privatized children’s jail, Hassockfield Secure Training Centre in Co. Durham. A Judge later ruled that the guards who “restrained” Adam shortly before his death had used unlawful force on him. Six years later and following a sustained campaign by parents of imprisoned children and groups like the Children’s Rights Alliance for England (CRAE) a shocking government document detailing control methods used on children, some as young as 12, in custody has been revealed under the Freedom of Information Act.
