Update: 29 December 2009, Toby has been released on remand, looks like the “granite” evidence turns out to not be so “granite”.
On the night of 15 November, three posh cars got torched in Friedrichshain, Berlin, as almost every night happens. However, the police arrested a younger comrade who they accuse of two of the arsons. They said he would have also carried gasoline for firelighters on himself. Straight away in the morning, some tabloid press published his pictures and full name and address, since he lives in a houseproject, the Liebig 14 (on the corner of Rigaerstrasse) which is due to be evicted. On the 25th of April 2007 happened in Lisbon an anti-authoritarian demo against fascism and capitalism. Close to 500 people took part on a march through one of the city’s richest areas, where paint was thrown at shops, banks and a riot cop van and slogans were spray painted on walls. To this shamelessness the guards of democratic order replied with a police charge and beatings against the demonstrators and everyone who were passing-by. Read the rest of this entry »

Panayiotis Masouras is accused of being a member of the ‘Conspiracy of Cells of Fire’.
On Wednesday September 23 and at 8.15 as I was leaving my house in Galatsi on my way to the gym, I was arrested by 25 persons of the anti-terrorist squad.
In a matter of seconds I found myself on the sidewalk, hands cuffed behind my back, while at the same time they were informing their senior officers that “everything went well” and that they “have me”. I was taken to the 12th floor of Police Headquarters (note: anti-terrorist division). The next day I am informed that at the same time with me another two friends of mine have also been arrested.
In the meantime the show has already started. Without any sleep for 48 hours and physically exhausted, with my face to the wall and then a long questionnaire following, while at the same time some police officer goes from office to office announcing in a delirium of pleasure that what is happening is called war. 10 months ago, on 18 January 2009, Elijah Smith, a former British Soldier was arrested in Brighton. He had spent the previous night decommissioning the EDO/MBM/ITT factory in Brighton, in an attempt to stop it providing parts for weapons being used by the Israeli army to bomb civilians in Gaza. Nobody was injured or harassed during their action, which was one of property damage. He and his co-defendants did not resist arrest.
Exactly 10 months on and Elijah Smith is still on remand. Yes that’s right – 10 months in prison without trial. And it looks as if he is likely to remain in prison until the trial actually starts, probably on 17 May 2010, by which time he’ll have spent 16 months on remand.
Elijah is currently at Bristol prison, please write to him in solidarity:
Elijah Smith VP7551,
19 Cambridge Rd,
He will be there until late November. On 30 November/1 December he and the other Decommissioners will be at Brighton courts for a ‘case management’ session relating to their trial next May. At the same time, Elijah and another decommissioner, also known as the Raytheon 2 (previously the Raytheon 3, but 3rd defendant’s charges dropped), will have that case discussed at the same court – the prosecution are trying to have the Raytheon and EDO cases linked, and a decision is due on that then. Elijah faces a third court case, currently set for 2 August 2010, which relates to alleged threatening comments he made to the EDO/MBM CEO during a previous court hearing.
Ronnie Easterbrook died on hunger strike 10th May 2009.
Ronnie Easterbrook was convicted in 1988 for the attempted murder of a policeman during an armed robbery that was set up by the police and a police informant. The only person who died was his fellow would-be robber who was shot dead by the police. Police had lain in wait, with a TV camera crew in-tow and ambushed the gang. The man shot dead by the Police, Tony Ash, was unarmed and already surrendering to them. Read the rest of this entry »
Join us in Copenhagen on the mass protest on the 12th of December, 2009!
The catastrophe is real and climate change is one of its many symptoms. The COP15s inevitable talk of saving the world from the climate crisis is an elaborate hoax to disguise the COP15s true purpose: to restore the legitimacy of global capitalism by inaugurating an era of green capitalism. A new rhetoric of saving the climate will exist to justify their repression, their fortified borders, their colonial resource wars. To give the Emperor new clothes. Our response to this astounding lie is an uncompromising and absolute NO to their system.
More has to be shaken than our holiday habits to sustain the world for times to come. It would be foolish to pin our hopes upon the very people who continue to kill off the planet for money. At Copenhagen, they will argue over how to properly create a market to commodify and so pollute the biosphere, dispossessing millions of people from their land to profit from destroying what remains of our earth. Governments and corporations will not sacrifice their growth to reduce carbon emissions, or only do so in order to create a new authoritarian regime for themselves.
The entire rhetoric of the climate crisis and the financial crisis is a cynical maneouvre by the state spin-doctors to deny the all-encompassing crisis of self-declared civilization. The COP15 will only attempt to hide the war that capitalism is waging against all life on the planet, a war that has spread across the entire globe for the last five hundred years, a war that encompasses the totality of even the oceans and atmosphere. In the midst of war, one does not talk of management and technical solutions. You cannot fight a war by pretending the war does not exist, by blinding yourself to repression and becoming complicit in accepting the false-promise of a petit bourgeois tranquility. Instead, one recognizes the enemy. One chooses a position. One fights.
Only by ridding ourselves of those who claim to be representing us and by defeating the ideology of endless economic growth, industrial production and consumption can we take control of our lives and planet. It is time to state: we are going to consciously attack the structures supporting the COP15: we will break through the lines of their police; we will refuse to negotiate with warmongering governments and the embedded media; we will refuse to side with sell-out NGOs and all the would-be managers of protest; we will refuse all governments and governance and not just de-legitimize the present ones.
It is time to state why we think that insurrection is needed to actually begin the change everybody is so desperate for. Acting together in fundamental opposition to those in power we might get a first glimpse of the richness and opportunities possible when ideas, experiences and concepts are shared amongst people from all over the world.
Yesterday evening, Monday the 16th of November, 26 year old anti-fascist Ivan “Vanya Kostolom” Khutorskoy was shot to death at the entrance to his home at Khabarovsk street in the east side of Moscow; according to some information with two shots to his head.
Vanya was a great figure in the Russian anti-fascist movement, and I am sure many people will write down their memories of him in the days, months and years to come. But as of today most of his friends are too angry and too shocked, at the loss of this friend and comrade. Read the rest of this entry »

Leo had been hunted by the antiterrorism with an international arrest warrant since 2008, when one of the tentacles of the Florence attorney’s office had orchestrated yet another inquest against the anarchist scene in Tuscany. The comrades were accused of subversive association with terrorist aims, some with the specific accusation of having robbed a post office at gunpoint for self-financing. Read the rest of this entry »
‘Insurrection’ is an anarchist magazine of the 1980’s which was edited by Jean Weir of Elephant Editions, UK. Amongst agitational news reports of rebellion and repression, the publication carried some of the first English language translations of the work of Italian anarchist insurrectionist, Alfredo M. Bonanno, and remains an example of a high-quality revolutionary anarchist publication which has a confrontational analysis coupled with lasting insight.
‘Insurrection’ is the first publication to carry the key basic perspectives of anarchist insurrectional theory and methodology emerging at that time. Texts such as ‘Affinity Group’, ‘Why Insurrection’, ‘Beyond Workerism, Beyond Syndicalism’, ‘Informal Organisation’, ‘Beyond the Structure of Synthesis’, ‘Towards A New Projectuality’ and ‘Autonomous Base Nucleus’, all back to back with action reports informing and illuminating these theoretical ideas which have developed and spread around the world, becoming ‘dangerous’ tools in the hands of uncontrollables everywhere.
From direct action, strategy, organisation, rebellion, anti-militarism, to current affairs, ecology, changes in production, economy, Palestine, urban riots, anti-nuclear struggle and more; the scope of the magazine was very broad. The art and design of ‘Insurrection’ is superb, with many issues being treated to the illustration and graphic design of renowned radical artist and anarchist, Clifford Harper, as Graphic Editor. ‘Insurrection’ was designed to be an instrument of struggle for the revolutionary project and it certainly retains its coherent vitality to inform, educate and inspire fresh anti-state and anti-capitalist struggle over twenty years later.
‘Insurrection’ is a joy to read and it is our pleasure to host these newly released PDFs from a publication which has stood the test of time, which still appears current and relevant, unlike so many ‘anarchist’ and ‘radical’ publications of the left, which are seemingly consigned to historical irrelevance and terminal boredom the moment they are printed.
Some capitalist parasites (so-called ‘antiquarian’ & ‘rare’ second-hand booksellers) sell ‘Insurrection’ and other Elephant Editions publications for expensive prices due to their strong production values and continuing appeal, so part of the intention to put these PDFs online is to make available to everyone these publications and undermine the creation of a new commodity market – namely – ‘rare’ anarchist books! Don’t ever give your money to any online ‘antiquarian’ bookstores for any Elephant Edition, support your local anarchist distro who print their own copies or order them direct from Elephant Editions at reasonable prices or download free online in our Library section. Make your own print run of Elephant Editions texts and distribute them in your local area, ideas are weapons! Watch out for new releases coming soon.
In an over-saturated digital world of the information economy, Elephant Editions spreads the ‘anti-info’ for destructive and passionate individuals who seek nothing but the end of the present system and the beginning of our path into unknown freedom and anarchy.

António Ferreira de Jesus is an anarchist prisoner serving a very long sentence who recently has been protesting his conditions. 64 years old, in total he served already 43 years of imprisonment. Coming from a poor family, during the fascist Salazar regime, he revolts when he’s 17 when he’s thrown for the first time in prison. For years he suffers the horrors in prison, but he also teaches himself to read and write and gains a greater knowledge about himself and the society he is living in, and becomes anarchist libertarian. After his release, he is imprisoned three more times by the fascist state, and finally also by the “democratic” state. The worst crimes for which he was convicted are robberies of the rich and an assault on the boarding school of Leiria, where he was locked up several years of his life. His last conviction, without proofs and marked with unusual legal proceedings and violations of procedures, he got for the kidnapping of a heroin dealer. Solidarity with António – Destroy All Prisons.
After 43 days, António Ferreira left the solitary confinement at the maximum security pavilion this Monday, the 9th of November. António went back to the normal regime and to the “new” cell where he was meant to go, because the direction board of the prison gave in to his two main demands: The right to have, as everybody had before, a desk with drawers in this new cell (his other demands, a reading lamp and privacy in the showers had been granted to him already) and the promise that he will be transferred to another prison very soon, as it is his wish.
