Exeter Anti-EDL demo report (UK)

February 12th, 2011

12 Feb 2011

“Today an attempt by the EDL [English Defence League] to hold a rally in Exeter was thoroughly thwarted by hundreds turning out for a festival of diversity and a celebration of multi-culturalism.

Also, Exeter AFA were in attendance and managed to follow this minority of bigots and thugs from their pathetic excuse of a gathering to their local pub – The Kings, Cowick Street, Exeter. These fascists masked up outside the pub, blatantly to try to attack minority groups and their shops later on. We got many photos of the individual scum concerned and these will be posted and distributed asap.

Love, strength and unity to all resist fascism worldwide. And solidarity to all prisoners of the struggle, especially the hunger strikers in Greece. Shortly a SW [South West] ABC will be active. We’ll keep you posted. ANARCHY and PEAS, the SW naughty massive“.

Solidarity attack in Bristol outskirts – The fire is spreading (UK)

February 11th, 2011

“We have come to terms with the extent of the damage done to our individual lives, our planet, what could laughably be called the remains of some *community* (now a politicians’ poisoned term – we see nothing reflective of what community means to us in this society) by the ravaging of capitalism, the State, social hierarchies of race and gender and our own seeming inability to confront and systematically destroy these entities as they suffocate us. This realisation can too often lead to paralysis or chasing one’s own tails in a frenzy of self-righteous *activism* that leaves participants exhausted, the quality of their struggle cheapened, and our enemies unfazed. We have assessed the terrain in which we find ourselves and pledged a trajectory of wild rage despite the spell of tranquility that society attempts to cast, living passion and experimentation despite the inertia and obsession with dead objects this society fetishizes, and real affinity despite the empty shell of social networks and meaningless interaction we are sold as leisure or *community*. Many tools are ours in this lived resistance – but none of these find any context when not held up against a relentless and determined assault on the open prison that unfolds everywhere our enemies tread.”

“Recently, the international anarchist current suffered a blow as a squatted self-organised space, *Liebig-Strasse 14* in the city of Berlin in the occupied territory claimed by the German State, was evicted by the cops. 35 or more comrades were arrested in the building and 2,500 came to the streets in anger – in the spirit of the finest reflection of our disgust and solidarity being the strengthened continuation of our attack everywhere, the struggle against gentrification and the class and social war that surrounds it (as fought in Berlin) was continued as we visited the Dick Lovett BMW garage out by Cribbs Causeway on Tuesday night. Between 40 and 50 BMW vehicles awaiting sale at the rear of the car showroom had their paintwork ruined, scratched and paintstrippered – done in this way so as not to trigger the car alarms.

We have only one question – Where next?

This action dedicated to Lukas Winkler, Stephanie Träger, Sven Maurer – squatters who fought their eviction in Munich, now imprisoned. Also to all prisoners in struggle – either side of the walls.”

Freedom for Arturo and Guido (Italy)

February 11th, 2011

From Nunatak:

Arturo and Guido, two of the comrades that are writing for Nunatak (a magazine of stories, cultures and struggles of the mountains), were arrested last night while participating in a demo in Condove (Susa Valley) trying to stop a train loaded with nuclear waste liquid Castor from the Garigliano reactor. The presence of a few dozen people made it possible to stop this train of death, but not to return home safely for all the protesters. They have done something for all of us, now it’s up to us to do something for them.

Freedom for Arturo and Guido!
Stop the Nuclear!

Your comrades of Nunatak.

Beautiful like the smile of the insurgents

February 1st, 2011

There is nothing as beautiful as the faces of insurgents. Nothing in this world is so attractive, is so full of hope. No journalist, no politician, no religious leader or other will ever be able to erase the beauty of rebellion or bury it in words devoid of joy and desire.

It is primarily this beauty that strikes us when we learn of revolts taking place in North Africa. From Tunisia to Yemen, Egypt to Algeria, despite the dozens of dead and thousands injured and arrested, fear is giving way to courage, sadness is overcome by hope, the misery of being reduced to survival turns into the scream of life.

One might question the economic conditions in these countries, the rising food prices, unemployment, the authoritarian regimes and their police. One might ask why, given such conditions, revolt always takes so long to break out; how do our contemporaries manage to suffer poverty and oppression for years and years without taking up arms and shooting the politicians, the bankers and the bosses. Furthermore, we could demonstrate how also here in Belgium, more and more people are thrown overboard, condemned to languish in detention centres and prisons, and exploited in ever harsher conditions, putting up daily with authority in all its forms. One might ask …

But it is time to stop complaining. Many of us, here and elsewhere, find ourselves stuck in this world where only money counts, where our homes resemble slums more and more, where industrial pollution is poisoning us slowly. Now it is clear to everyone that they (that is, those at the top of society) will push their exploitation and domination even further, they are talking about “economic crisis “and calling on us all to accept the harshening of life at every level. But them, they are not in crisis, on the contrary, their profits are just getting higher. And who is being called upon to pay the price, here as elsewhere?

Obviously there are differences between here and there, even if the rule of money knows no borders, even if a regime, all regimes, whether democratic or authoritarian, will always mean oppression, confinement and exploitation. But the revolt, in all its beauty, explodes the differences. Burning a bank in Tunisia and Egypt calls for a bank burned in Brussels; just as the release of prisoners by the insurgents in Tunisia calls for razing the prison walls here; just as men and women, side by side behind the barricade, call to put an end to submission and patriarchy.

What fuels the revolt are not only, and it looks almost not that much, sweatshop conditions. No, the oxygen of the fire of revolt in all languages, is a beginning of freedom, this stranger who is so absent in this world, but who rises proudly in the act of rebelling. And then, everything can start to change.

Let’s leave aside any analysis of political scientists, journalists knights-of-the-democracy, or those who are already preparing to take the place of the Ben Ali and Mubaraks of this world. We are simply alongside those who, in Tunisia and Egypt and elsewhere know that freedom is neither the law nor the sharia, who want neither boss nor government, who want to try to live as free people, because, during the rebellion, they have already tasted it’s possible – and it’s sweet.

Love and courage to insurgents around the world.

Let’s set fire to the powder keg, us too.

Some insurgents from here..

Solidarity with the American comrade almost killed by Delta Cops (Greece)

January 26th, 2011

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011. Athens, Greece

This morning in Athens, an American anarchist has pressed attempted murder charges against Delta and Dias motorcycle police, as well as the relevant commanding officers, for a beating she suffered at the intersection of Patision and Stounari streets while demonstrating against the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on November 15th, 2010. Meanwhile, over 170 members of the American and European scholarly community, including Noam Chomsky, Judith Butler, and Immanuel Wallerstein, have denounced the behavior of the Delta police towards demonstrations and specifically the beating of the American demonstrator, calling the attack on her “nearly fatal”. Let’s Destroy Work, Let's Destroy the Economy by Alfredo M. Bonanno

January 26th, 2011

325 presents this Elephant Editions theoretical pamphlet due to the timely nature of the theme of work, labour and self-management during the global economic ‘crisis’ of capitalism. Anarchists have always known that capitalism is permanent terror, not an occasional ‘crisis’, which is a false media concept that the bosses manipulate for themselves to rob the people with their ‘austerity measures’. Here we present the first chapter of Let’s Destroy Work, Let’s Destroy the Economy, by the anarchist-insurrectionalist writer, Alfredo M. Bonanno. The pamphlet is available as a downloadable PDF to print out and distribute.

Work is a subject that is coming back into fashion in a big way in newspapers, academic lectures, papal sermons, electoral speeches and even articles and pamphlets produced by anarchists.

The main questions raised are: what can we do about growing unemployment? How can we give meaning to lost professionalism in jobs that are undergoing the effects of neo-industrial development? What alternatives can be found to replace traditional work? And, finally, and this is the way many anarchists think, how can we abolish work or reduce it to the indispensable minimum?

Let us make it clear right away that none of these problems interests us. We are not concerned with the political problems of those who see unemployment as a danger to democracy and order. We do not feel any nostalgia for lost professionalism. We are even less interested in elaborating libertarian alternatives to grim factory work or intellectual labour, which are unwittingly doing nothing but toe the line of the advanced post-industrial project. Nor are we for the abolition of work or its reduction to the minimum required for a meaningful happy life. Behind all this there is always the hand of those who want to regulate our lives, think for us, or politely suggest that we think as they do.

We are for the destruction of work and, as we will try to demonstrate, that is quite a different matter. But let us proceed in an orderly fashion. Read the rest of this entry »

Noise-bombs and threats in Santiago (Chile)

January 26th, 2011

On the 21 January 2010, the Insurrectional Cell for Total Liberation took responsibility for detonating loud noise-bombs against the Foreign Ministry and the Police headquarters in the centre of Santiago, capital of Chile. The same group claimed for sending bomb-threats to the ambassador of the Greek state in Chile, Chrysoula Karykopoulou. This was done in solidarity with the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire on trial in Athens, Braulio Duran & Adrian Magdaleno (prisoners of the Mexican State*), and the comrades arrested in Chile for the “Caso Bombas”/’Bombs Case’.

Chilean Embassy receives Explosive Anarchist Letters (Mexico)

January 26th, 2011

On the 23 January 2010 the Chilean Embassy in Mexico received two explosive letter devices which were immediately noticed by Embassy civil servants, who then alerted the Secretariat of Mexican Public Security. The building was evacuated and 24 hours later Mexican police confirmed that the packets contained explosives and threats against the ambassador of Chile in Mexico – Germán Guerrero Pavez. The devices were neutralized.

Autonomous Cells of the Immediate Revolution – Praxedis G. Guerrerro took responsibility for this latest attack against the Chilean State through an internet message.

This incident has been ‘quietened down’ by the Chilean and Mexican governments, international media plus European authorities, who are not willing to give the “oxygen of publicity” to this latest attack on the global media-stage, during the precarious trial of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, after the December letter-bombs against various States, which hit international media headlines, prompting the Italian Informal Anarchist Federation to respond with two explosive parcels for the Chilean and Swiss embassies in Rome. Growing insurrectional tendancies will not be censored out of the media, nor will the attacks end. Anarchism will only spread, become more developed and will overcome the institutions of hierarchy and finance.

The action was dedicated to the prisoners of the Chilean State who are fighting for their dignity and freedom, the indigenous people of the Mapuche, who are fighting for their land and self-determination, as well as dedicated to the Revolutionary Organisations Conspiracy of Cells of Fire and Revolutionary Struggle in Greece. Anarchist prisoner Gabriel Pombo da Silva also gets a mention, with a quote from him ending the final section: “Siempre con l@s rebeldes!!!!”

Update on the Trial of Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, Athens (Greece)

January 26th, 2011

24 & 25 January 2010

On Monday, January 24, the second day of the trial of the accused in the case of Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, the court rejected both claims of the accused: to have the minutes of the proceedings recorded (“Due to high costs” said the tribunal bozos!) and for the identity papers of those entering the courtroom not to be withheld. … The defendants left the court, revoked their defence lawyers and stated that they will abstain from prison food and go on hunger strike if the court appointed lawyers (which it did).

Critique of the attitudes of the journalists. The statement of the six accused prisoners, agreed by the three comrades* on bail, was read by George Karagiannidis who said: “We are adamant about the retaining of our comrades’ particulars. “

G. Karagiannidis spoke of the repressive nature of the measure said the defendants want to take their voices beyond the walls of the prison.

The statement made reference to the journalists, who “misleadingly report directly from the counter-terrorist cops They have reported on our personal lives and those of our families, so they too are exposed.”

When the accused left the prison/court dozens of comrades shouted slogans and many of them raised their fists shouting “Tough, tough, be proud and strong.”

* The three comrades Vogiatzakis, Rallis and Giospas who are free on bail claimed that they have nothing to fear, but said that under these circumstances they cannot attend and do not want to go to trial with lawyers whom they do not know.

25 January 2011 – The trial of those accused of involvement in the organization “Conspiracy of Cells of Fire” was stopped this morning and will resume on Thursday. The court proceeded to appoint new defence lawyers, but of the 18 lawyers appointed, only four came forward and stated that they refuse to accept the appointment. As said by the lawyers who refused to take their defence, the case is too serious and the defendants themselves do not wish to be represented. Finally, the court was suspended until Thursday with the appointment of two new lawyers per defendant.

FROM ACTFORFREEDOMNOW!

Freedom to H.Hadjimihelakis, P. Argirou, G.Tsakalos who have taken the political responsibility for the “Conspiracy Cells of Fire” and P.Massouras, K.Karakatsani, A.Mitrousias, G.Karagiannidis who are imprisoned for the same case.

Solidarity to all imprisoned anarchists and revolutionaries.
