Prison: abolish or destroy? (Deranged)

Wednesday, May 7th, 2014

To provoke discussion about the issues contained within, and sharpen the attack against the existent, we reproduce the full text of this newly retrieved article from Deranged #0. Deranged #0 was published a few years ago by random anarchists in London. In UK this year there is a ‘Prison Abolition’ campaign and conference[1], with prior workshops happening in Bristol soon[2]. The post-industrial cybernetic society of the present and near-future, has as it’s aim the abolition of prisons in the name of rehabilitation and social reconfiguration. New technologies of social control have made it possible for the incarceration of the entire society through exclusion, remote tracking, private security companies, surveillance, “community punishment” and the securitisation of the social environment. Which is why as anti-civilisation anarchist-insurrectionalists and nihilists, we don’t advocate the “abolition” of prisons, but their destruction, as part of a polymorphous attack against every aspect of the State, Society and Civilisation. We think that there are no real “anarchist” solutions to the “anti-social problem”, other than the constant war against power and continual anarchist revolution. Towards the point of no-return and freedom – Attack the prison-society.

The plan is to empty the prisons of the great majority of prisoners and throw them back into the prison-society using the technology of isolation and control; and for the minority of irreducible rebels, keep them inside for ever. What is being presented as ‘progress’ is nothing other than the advance and spread of repression. This is what the abolitionists are really subscribing to: ‘change everything so that everything remains the same’.

It has been said, not mistakenly, that those who do most harm in this world are those who try to do most good. Still today, with increasing isolation and atomisation of individuals, there are people around who decide to ruin their lives with excessive altruism.

Always with the best of intentions, they set out to try to remedy the ills they see before them. They can even be paid by the State for doing so, and this is one of the great swindles of capital: it imposes conditions of untold suffering, and, through its ally the State, paves the way for it to be prolonged in time, rationalised and reformed. FAI-FRI claim responsibility for incendiary attack against Trastor REIC (Greece)

Tuesday, August 21st, 2012

From contrainfo:

13 August 2012

Athens: Responsibility claim for arson on the headquarters of Trastor real estate investment company

We are witnessing the most extreme contradictions that are born and die in this shit-world. While the calculators of sorcerer’s apprentices of economic statistics are counting 23,000 dead in Syria, billions of people are watching besotted the London Olympic Games; the distance between the Olympic and the ‘practical’ shooting in the field of operations is just a simple push of the button on a remote control. If only it could happen… all these rivers of blood to become an impetuous torrent which will drown athletes and spectators. If only it could happen… We can refer all the same to the thousands of homeless people ‘messing up’ the image of the dire city, while the rich enjoy their luxurious comforts in the gardens of Ekali and Kifissia (two of the richest suburbs of Athens).

Societies that, despite their contradictions, manage to reproduce the stench they’re emitting, partitioning everyone and everything, manufacturing hundreds of microcosms.

Power is not a compact structure but a diffused edifice, located on the systemic structures—economic, institutional, etc.—and human relations. Starting from society’s chopping into antagonistic-with-each-other subsets, the constant fragmentation continues in the individual’s daily life within the capitalist world; in every aspect of the individual’s life, in every field of expression. Multiple Arsons: Olympic torch returns to Bristol (GB)

Wednesday, August 8th, 2012

From Bristol IMC:

On Monday 31st we lit up the opening week of the Olympics with an attack on two vehicles (and all the equipment they contained) belonging to British Telecom (BT), an “official Olympic partner”. It’s a small reply to the heightened repression in London.

In Longwell Green this week we then sabotaged a mast owned by BT’s parent company, O2, the mobile phone network. We burnt out the mast by setting fire to the cables at the bottom.

While the thousands who can afford to swell the economy are welcomed by the state for the Olympics, O2 profits from the exploitation of a literal captive audience of “illegal” migrants who are forced to use O2 phones with extortionate pricing in a pilot scheme at Yarl’s Wood “Immigration Removal Centre” (prison) which is run by Serco. The authorities can monitor calls with ease, and the network is easier to shut down in the event of a disturbance or as punishment for rule breaking. There are currently mass hunger strikes in Germany and the UK (in Morton Hall, a former open prison now specifically designated for “foreign nationals”), these hunger strikes are an expression against detention, control and isolation. Anti-Olympic solidarity – Burn London Burn (GB)

Sunday, August 5th, 2012

From contra-info:

… At the main gate of the Polytechnic School, on Patission Street, we dropped a banner against the London Olympics, now in progress. The banner reads: “Smash the OlymPIGS and the capitalist wankers – Arson and wildfire to the Olympic ideals – Burn, London, burn”… The Olympic ideals are stinking of money, militarization and repression. We don’t forget the comrades who, despite the super-spectacle set up by cops, military and mass media, are stepping forward and spitting the society of submission on its face. Let us also remind people of the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, as well as the need to organize an international campaign against the displacements of oppressed populations who are living in the Brazilian favelas.

… From some place of Tenerife (Canary Islands), the name of which we don’t want to remember we have wanted to unite the callout made by Contra Info for actions of international solidarity.

Saturday, August 4th, 2012

From IMC UK:

Meet 6.30pm Southbank by Waterloo Bridge Friday 10th August.

This is a mid month Critical Mass to show solidarity with the cyclist killed on the road on 1st August by an Olympic bus. The headlines continually ignored the death and concentrated on the gold medals – particularly the one won by British cyclist Bradley Wiggins. All cyclists including Olympians, are invited to join us as well as wheelchairers, skateboarders, roller bladers, roller skaters and other self-propelled people.. This Critical Mass will be huge – spread the word.

Fuck the London 2012 Olympics (GB)

Sunday, July 29th, 2012

Beyond the gold, silver and bronze glitter that bedazzles us through the corporate media (the myth), there is a dark & sinister shadow comprised of greed & destruction (the reality). This shadow is cast primarily over the poor and the natural world, who suffer the most from impacts of Olympic Games. While officials’ talk about the ideals of the ‘Olympic Spirit’, ‘Olympism’, & the ‘Olympic Movement’ (with vague references to the interrelation of sports, humanity, & universal ethics: myth), it would be more accurate to refer to it all as the Olympic Industry (reality). It can be defined as such because in spite of its ‘nonprofit’ image as a champion of amateur sports, it is in fact a multi-billion dollar industry comprised of government & corporate elites working together to maximize their profits, status and power. FAI / May 22nd Group claim responsibility for sabotage on Bristol trainlines (UK)

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

325 receives and transmits:

22 May 2012

The purpose of guerrilla attack is to spread the struggle into different territories and facets of life. Finance, judicial, communications, military and transport infrastructure will continue to be targets of the new generation of urban low-intensity warfare – the Informal Anarchist Federation (FAI) / International Revolutionary Front.

The means for this struggle are always close at hand. On the morning of May 22nd we struck two points on the railway routes into Bristol, on the outer sides of Patchway (northern) and Parson Street (southern) stations. By lifting the concrete slabs running alongside the tracks and burning out the signalling cables found in the trench underneath, before carriages came on the line. We specifically chose these places so that employees of the Ministry of Defence, as well as military industry companies Raytheon/Thales/HP/QuinetiQ etc., in the business park near Filton Abbey Wood station, and the corporate hub of Bristol, near the Temple Meads station, were amongst the affected. Normal services weren’t restored until the evening.

The potential spread of such blockages in general poses a significant problem for the flow of commodities and for making sure that labour exploitation arrives on time, key concerns for transnational capitalism.

Such actions are a time-honoured method of disturbing the ‘social peace’ myth: from similar sabotages in France; cash courier vehicles getting destroyed in Crete; the night-time smashing of train station ticket machines in Australia; resistance to highway developments eating even further into wild landscapes (such as Khimki forest in Russia) whilst displacing animals and people who are still refusing to assimilate into industrial civilisation (such as Bolivia’s TIPNIS project in one of the most biodiverse regions in the world); to the iconic seizure and arson of the city bus in London last August. Not to mention our comrades of FAI/Fires on the Horizon, in Athens, and FAI/Individuals Conspiring for the Destruction of the Existent, in Curicó, defiant with their barricades…

Everywhere the bosses want us scurrying around their metropolis, like consignments of human flesh in alienating containers on pre-determined routes, in a frenetic hustle for survival, there is and will continue to be every reason to forcefully intervene in the smooth flow of the daily grind.

In the United Kingdom of clockwork control and domestication, we’re some of the ‘unpatriotic ones’ who find the 2012 Olympics, with the ensuing spectacle of wealth (when so many here struggle to feed themselves and their families), harmful developments and escalating police state, frankly offensive. But no union or movement calls our shots, and we have no inhibition to use guerrilla activity to hurt the national image and paralyze the economy however we can. Because simply, we don’t want rich tourists – we want civil war.

Anarchy is unavoidable.
Riot 2012.

Informal Anarchist Federation (FAI) – May 22nd Group (*)

(* – “Because when your heart beats, it beats freedom, love, and anarchy: Anarchy doesn’t die in the mouth, it prevails in active hands.”Mauricio ‘Mauri’ Morales.

On the 22nd of May 2009, Chilean anarchist Mauricio Morales died on an operation to attack the school for prison guards in Santiago.

In the struggle for meaningful existence, ‘freedom’ and ‘life’ are things worth the risk of losing in order to truly win them. Mauri ‘lost’ the last one… but that wild instinct never dies, the bet is still on, and today Mauri we will see to it that anarchy lives!

To Billy Augustan and Reyhard ‘Eat’ Rumbayan, fighters of the Indonesian FAI in prison for burning a bank (and to the wanted of that case, never forgetting our comrades in clandestinity) – you may not know us, but we are your co-conspirators, and the same for any being who attacks for individual, collective and Earth liberation. Stay strong and proud.

Lastly, we dedicate these words to the five anarchists arrested in the USA in early May, who, planning to blow up a bridge in the Cuyahoga Valley national park in Cleveland, were infiltrated by a government agent who sold them fake explosives.)
