Everyday repression in the context of “No M.A.T.” – High Tension Electrical Network (Catalunya)

Friday, October 4th, 2013

This is info about the arrest and release of a comrade in the anti-MAT struggle in Catalonia, on the 16th of September…….

more info: http://torresmasaltashancaido.espivblogs.net/

Statement.

I was stopped by the police on the path to the gas station. What started as what I thought was a random ID check turned into me being arrested due to false allegations by the police, a night in custody and me now facing a trial. The fact that I was not from this area played a big role throughout the confrontation, and resulted in fascist remarks and police violence.

I can only assume that the reason behind this repression is to divided us and to keep the protest local. But it isn´t local, it is a global struggle that affects us all and there for shouldn’t be left to address by a small group of people that feels responsible, but by anyone with a social and environmental conscience. Monday, September 2nd, 2013

2nd of September, 2013:

The active resistance camp against the MAT (very high tension electricity line) taking place near Girona has squatted a huge, antique, abandoned farmhouse near the village of Oriol, in order to give continuity to the struggle against this deadly project and the world which needs it. The resistance against the MAT has been active for more than a decade and has now reached a crucial point seeing that the construction of the line has now started in this area and is going ahead at a furious pace. Postal addresses of the five anarchists arrested in Barcelona (Catalunya & Spanish State)

Monday, August 5th, 2013

On May 15, 2013 a major crackdown was launched by the Mossos D’Squadra [Catalan police] which was directed from the National Audience Court in Madrid [high prosecution panel], in which five anarchists were arrested in various parts of Catalonia. A media-orientated coup to coincide with the second anniversary of the 15-M popular protests, a mediatic lynching, where these libertarians still remain in pretrial custody. Details of the case and solidarity initiatives can be found on the support blog to the five of Barcelona. In this post we provide the addresses where letters can be sent to the companerxs. (more…)

ACTIVE RESISTANCE CAMP IN DEFENSE OF THE LAND – AGAINST THE M.A.T. AND THE WORLD WHICH NEEDS IT

WHAT IS THE M.A.T.?

The very high tension line (‘Muy Alta Tensión’ – M.A.T.) is an electrical motorway which transports at least 400,000 volts. It is being constructed in order to connect European States to each other and also Europe with Africa. It is necessary in order to sell and distribute excess energy produced by nuclear power plants and the so-called alternative sources of energy. At the same time, it is the network which capitalism needs in order to supply the electricity necessary for other projects and infrastructures of death and destruction, such as high-speed railway lines [TAV]. Those responsible for all this are always the same ones and the construction companies in question are directly involved in other projects which are destroying lands around the world; companies like Vinci standing out in Europe and Endesa in South America. Barcelona: Tonight, 21 June – 19:30h, Font de Canaletes – Demo for the Barcelona 5 (Catalunya)

Friday, June 21st, 2013

From tarcoteca, also see contrainfo:

June 21: All to the street for freedom to the Barcelona 5. On May 15 five anarchists were arrested in their homes in the province of Barcelona. Their crime? Having participated in demonstrations involving altercations and spreading their ideology through Facebook groups. Therefore, they are accused of belonging to a terrorist group, praising terrorism, and recruitment and indoctrination. As proof of their guilt in these crimes, police seized material found in their homes: anarchist flags, libertarian philosophy books, black clothes and rockets and firecrackers, so that we all keep to San Juan [popular party]. L’Hospitalet, Catalonia: Five banks attacked in solidarity with the 5 prisoners of Sabadell (Barcelona)

Thursday, June 6th, 2013

via contra-info, see previous news stories 1 & 2:

We have been active as a group for around a year, during which time we have seen a slight increase in the kind of actions with which we identify. We also have taken similar actions and have decided to make them public through this indymedia, to encourage their replication.

Besides us, there was recently an attempt to frame their actions as part of a “campaign” or similar collection of actions. Afterward, the response was silence from most of the anarchist and nihilist lines in Catalonia (or, at least, nothing was spread on the Internet).

We keep our strategy and political line firm: We see the actions by the Informal Anarchist Federation (FAI) and other anonymous actions as small winks. We take the opportunity to send a solidarious hug to all those individuals who decided to pass from theory to practice, in relation to direct, material action. (more…)

Mataró & Sabadell: Attacks against the governing party (Catalonia)

Saturday, June 2nd, 2012

Homes of the governors party in Catalonia have been attacked

Nowadays two young people are in prison due to the strong protest in the March general strike. These people are activists from Sants neighborhood in Barcelona.
Políticos are trying to stop with the protest in Catalonia with that kind of repression, but they are receiving the opposite effect.

As a consequence of those imprisonments, some homes of the party governor of Catalonia have been attacked, with fire and cobblestones. At Mataró, Sabadell and Premià de Mar, we have seen the rage as a consequence of their repression.

(Mataró – translation “who sows misery collects the rage”)

Catalan:

* * *

We have lost confidence in the democratic middle class, we have lost confidence in a society that when faced with social conflict asks for more repressive measures, asks for more police, more harassment, personalize the “insecurity” of the lower classes asking for their imprisonment, deportation (in the case of immigrants), or enclosure… it’s certain that if they could they would surround the lower neighborhoods with electric fences. All this, acting as if the problem is not the economic inequality of the system, not a social problem created by the structures of capitalism and the state, that the root problem is not private property and social inequality… that while some have 40 homes, others do not even have a roof to live under, that the system does not allow you possibilities, that it condemns you for life. These people ask for more police, more CIES [immigrant detention centers], they say that the main problem is the immigrant youth (for example) and they vote for the extreme right. Therefore, we do not fight for these “democrats,” for these “free citizens” (or rather such idiots that they believe they are free…), we fight for the kid who has to provide for his family alone, who spends his days on the street searching for food or in the scrap heaps, who is wary when he imagines his future, who lives in secluded rat holes having to rob at gunpoint, for those who live below the poverty line and show themselves violently against this. We fight for those kids who were expelled from their schools or institutions for not adhering to the authoritarian rules of the classroom and the centre, for “getting bored” of authoritarian indoctrination, disrespecting the bourgeois schemas and therefore were punished and expelled. We fight for all of them because they are the only ones who — whether unconsciously or not — rebel against the capitalist society, who suffer fascist and police aggressions.

But we do not resign ourselves, and we do not make ourselves victims. We propose the response… faced with all this, we opt for the social threat, for insecurity, for pressure and punishment toward systematic structures, for night-time arsons, for the internal and asymmetric threat, for FEAR as a form of vengeance on the system and the society that constitutes and supports it. We are in civil war between the system along with the society that supports it against the marginal youth. They imprison, repress, occupy with police… we contest with violence, with insecurity, with social tension, with panic. Violence from below will do nothing but intensify and so they will have to shield they houses, their cars, their banks, their churches. While those from above rob us of life, enclose us, discriminate against us… they will have their fear on stepping into the street, fearing and having to equip themselves with cameras, police, security systems.

While the youth continue to be marginalized and exploited, the middle bourgeois class, the bosses, the cops… will live with fear and terror of those who assault them, rob them, attack them.

The streets are ours.

Arm your hands, spit your hatred against the tyrant.

Anarquistas Nihilistas.
