We’re excited to announce the first issue of Wildfire, a new quarterly newsletter of anarchist prison struggle.
We have two goals with this project: to spread the words and actions of anarchist prisoners in the United States and to offer news and updates on anti-authoritarian struggle for comrades in prison who might not otherwise have access to this information.
Wildfire flows with our continued frustration with the state of anarchist prison solidarity in the United States: the lack of prisoners’ voices in our publications, the half-hearted solidarity shown toward captured fighters, the dead-end of “political prisoner” designation. It also flows from our long-term relationships with imprisoned comrades, the mutual affinity found in struggling together. Rather than complain and critique, we prefer to strike out in another direction, embodying our own vision of solidarity. We hope this publication can be a contribution to a more diverse, more combative, and stronger anarchist struggle against prison. (more…)

To all those still keeping the fire alive, my name is Dante Cano.
I was arrested by the pigs on Friday the 13th, at a march “Against the Police State.” It was an international call-out against militarization of the pigs and police repression towards black lives in so-called “America.”
I was also out there that night for all those killed in racist murders and the killing of a woman that was shot by the Emeryville police outside of Home Depot.
I was violently attacked for supposedly breaking a Men’s Warehouse window. I was tackled and beaten by OPD, then put in a van and taken four to five blocks away. I was then asked if a bat and a black bag was mind. I said, “Fuck no.” Police beat me once more in the van and then took me to jail. (more…)

On Wednesday, March 11th, the District Attorney’s office pushed in court for Dante Cano to be hit with a felony charge for vandalism. The one police officer in court claimed that after hearing a window being hit, he saw a person in black running in a sea of other people in black. Several moments later, Dante was in police custody, despite no evidence actually linking him to the crime. We are asking people to
please help bail Dante out of jail, which will increase his changes of defending himself in court. We also call on everyone to continue to support the Ferguson 3, youths arrested during the first night of the rebellion in the Bay Area. (more…)
Solidarity with anarchist Dante Cano, arrested at Oakland demo against police violence and murders (USA)

Spread around. Lumpen-proletarian rebel arrested recently in Oakland, CA USA at anti-police demonstration. Squatter and anarchist. Facing serious charges. Help get word out.
Dante Cano is currently being held in Santa Rita jail for participation in a demonstration against police brutality and murder in the Bay Area and across the United States. At the time of his arrest, police in near-by Emervyville had just killed Yuvette Henderson in early February. At the same time, police also had just shot people in San Jose, East Oakland, and also the courts had exonerated the police that shot and killed Alex Nieto in San Francisco. This happened against a back-drop of ongoing police murder and violence across the US as well as a deep and furious revolt in the Bay Area against this murder and repression. (more…)
