Liebig 14 is one of Berlin longest running autonomous housing projects, serving as a space for collective living as well as community and political organising for over 20 years. After a 4 year legal process the owners of the building have finally been given legal permission to evict the house on the 2nd of February 2011. Squatted shortly after the fall of the wall in what was a derelict area of east Berlin, Liebig 14’s attempted eviction is just one symptom of a rampaging processes of gentrification which is rapidly forcing poorer residents out of the city centre and tearing apart the city’s radical infrastructure. Liebig 14 is proud to be a part of a long history of autonomous spaces in Berlin and around the world. In working against capitalism, social hierarchy and discrimination, autonomous spaces take small but concrete steps towards wider political emancipation and self-determined living. The eviction of Liebig 14 will be a loss not only to Berlin’s alternative project infrastructure but also a wider attack on projects everywhere attempting to build alternative, more socially just, and more sustainable modes of social organization. Solidarity with free spaces under threat in Berlin, Amsterdam, London and worldwide is key if we are to sustain these vital resources.
Stop gentrification from tearing apart our cities!
Support autonomous spaces!
Save Liebig 14!

New year’s eve has been a busy one this year in several German towns – Here is a short report.
Under the motto „from Grünau to Moabit… Dynamic new year’s eve day against all forms of prison and a society of imprisonment and exclusion! Let’s open up the walls…“ several comrades have organised two public events in Berlin to show their hatred against a the prison society. (more…)

Four friends and a car. Wednesday night around 2am, Berlin, district of Mitte.
We will not make it home tonight, other people made plans for our evening. Which ones those are, we will experience in the near of Rosa Luxemburg Platz – as we are going to drive away with the green light, a car of the PMS (the police department responsible for political motivated violence) stops our way putting herself in front of our car, while other police cars close our car from the other sides. We will get thrown out of our car with screams, on the ground, handcuffed and encircled by excited cops, happy enough to have caught us. (more…)

On the 3.2 some anarchists paid a short visit to the Greek consulate in Berlin, located at the Wittenberg square. With a banner reading in both Greek and German „The passion for freedom is stronger than any prison – Freedom to Alfredo Bonanno and Christos Stratigopoulos“ we raised attention on the situation of the two comrades imprisoned in Greece. Behind us we feel the strength of our gesture of insurgent love; informal and coordinated, lived and felt in as many ways as our creativity, our imagination, our desires and resources, (personal or material), have allowed and guided…
It seems to me that I am not the only one who has been moved by the interest that this hunger strike stirred up, by the demonstration of revolutionary solidarity and its results. I also don’t think I’m the only one that wants to see that all that was experienced and shared during these days remain “only” a gesture… Gestures are for remembering (monuments, comrades, situations, etc.), but IDEAS and ACTIONS are for continuing and advancing… (more…)

On December 29th, 2009 Tobias P. was released from Moabit prison. As expected, the public prosecutor’s office represented by Pamela Kaminski has filed a complaint against rescinding the arrest warrant. Although no written justification has been published yet, an examination of the case by the next highest authority, the District Court, will most likely follow, which would result in reimprisonment in case the District Court allows the objection. Comrades visited Gabriel Pombo da Silva in Aachen prison, Germany, during these previous days. He was fine, not suffering so much and very happy to get news about the solidarity actions that took place in different places. He will begin to eat again tomorrow and was already thinking about that. The comrades also spoke with Gabriel about making a balance from what happened, but it will take time before the text appears.
For the destruction of all prisons and borders forever.
For revolutionary struggle against capitalism.
Some of the recent actions of solidarity:

On the 29 December 2009, a comrade from Berlin, who was imprisoned for the arson of 3 expensive cars in the area of Friedrichshain was released from remand pending the further investigation. It seems the “granite” evidence that was used to keep him in the jail was not so “granite” under legal examination.

(more…)

Update: 29 December 2009, Toby has been released on remand, looks like the “granite” evidence turns out to not be so “granite”.
On the night of 15 November, three posh cars got torched in Friedrichshain, Berlin, as almost every night happens. However, the police arrested a younger comrade who they accuse of two of the arsons. They said he would have also carried gasoline for firelighters on himself. Straight away in the morning, some tabloid press published his pictures and full name and address, since he lives in a houseproject, the Liebig 14 (on the corner of Rigaerstrasse) which is due to be evicted. 13 October 2009 : From the German press: Unknown persons attacked a police station in Lichtenberg and created high damages. Nobody got injured. Clearly the perpretrators acted in solidarity with people who are in prison accused of arsons on cars. State security investigates.
Around 12.30 the group showed up in front of the police station and smashed several windows with stones, afterwards they lighted smokebombs, their smoke reached the inner part of the building through the damaged windows. Also they left some calthrops on the streets which damaged the police cars who wanted to search for the authors, who instead could flee away. The police first arrested three persons in the area but had to release them quite fast. Civil cops found a bag in the near of the action containing flyers who had a connection to the ongoing arsons on cars.
The following claim was published recently on the internet:
„At first we want to condemn of again innocent passer-byers who just finish in the search-framework – an arrest we read in the press about. Now follow informations about the attack on the police station in the Rathaustr. in Berlin Lichtenerg in the night from the 13 to the 14 of October: solidarity knows no borders…
You keep our comrades Masouras, Hadjimichelakis and Yospus prisoners in Athens. You took Christoph T. And Alexandra R. in general preventive kidnapping, you want to make an example with the prisoners of the first of May, you organised a farce process against alleged members of the MG, therefore we visited you. In solidarity with all the ones who are on our side of the barricade and take action against your social terror-control ansd your anti-insurrection combating. A special greeting goes to Alfredo Bonanno and Christos Stratigopoulos, kept in pre-trial detention in Greece.
We do not know borders and we will hit your agencies everywhere”
