Istanbul: Demonstration in solidarity with hunger strikers (Turkey)

Monday, March 23rd, 2015

Inter Arma received:

Today in Kadıkoy, we marched in solidarity with prisoners in Greek prisons, who are in hunger strike since 2nd of March and who turn to death fast. During march, we chanted slogans: “Destroy Prisons, Free the Prisoners”, “Wage Slavery System will end with anarchy”, “Greetings to the comrades who are fighting and fallen”, “Insurrection, Revolution, Anarchy”. This action was finished in a peaceful way, but if something come over our comrades, we’ll turn the streets to hell.

Long Live Anarchy!

Hunger Strike: Update & Letter from Fivos Harisis – Network of Fighting Prisoners (Greece)

Sunday, March 22nd, 2015

Today, Saturday 21/03 in the morning, about an hour after midnight, comrade Fivos Harisis, after having suffered a fainting episode in his cell, was initially transferred to the infirmary and then to the “hospital” Saint Paul of Korydallos prison. Although the doctor signed a referral for his transfer to an outside hospital, for unspecified reasons, Fivos remained in a hospital cell for the whole night, although it was at hypoglycemic shock limits with his sugar index reaching up to 45. The suffering of the comrade continued until 10 am, when the procedure for his transfer to “Attikon” hospital begun.

Yesterday, the comrade published a text informing us about his experience in Tzanio hospital:

Today, 20/3, and while being on the 19th day of hunger strike, I was transferred, after three hours of staying in the “hospital” of Korydallos prison, to Tzanio with the suffocating escort of EOM and EKAM (special police squads). My transfer to a tertiary hospital was deemed necessary as during my today’s medical review, my personal doctor Sakkas Spyridon diagnosed low blood sugar values (59), malaise, dizziness in addition to the fact that I’ve lost 9.3 pounds equivalent to 12.8% of my body weight.

During my stay in Tzanio all examinations were taking place under the suffocating presence of cops, a fact that didn’t irritate doctors at all, as they appeared to be very familiar with it. It is worth pointing out that during two medical tests the cops were willing to remove my handcuffs but the doctors did not let them, thus I had to be examined in irons. After all examinations were done and while I was lying handcuffed on a stretcher with four cops above my head, a doctor came in and started to inject sugar water into the tube they were using to get my blood sample, without asking me. When I realized what was happening (because I had my eyes closed at the beginning) I stopped her and removed the injection myself, asking her intensely why was she doing that without asking me while clarifying that the hunger strike I am on is my conscious choice and that I want to control the current decay of my body. After a short debate the doctor clarified in a harsh way that I as prisoner and a patient will do what the doctors say, not what I want and then she left. After ten minutes, the manager of the pathology clinic, Drimis Stylianos, made clear to me that if I do not accept the serum, I can not be hospitalized. To my arguments that the care of a hunger striker in the hospital is not about administrating serum but offering the best conditions possible in relation to the prison hospital and the direct control of vital organs, he repeated that there is no way for me to be hospitalized without serum. Finally, after my refusal to receive serum, to my question if he takes the responsibility to return me to prison with my blood sugar at the limits of a hypoglycemic shock, he replied that he does and that he has even signed the paperwork that would send me back to prison.

The doctors in each case must learn to step up and not work as subordinates of the cops when the patient happens to be a prisoner. The hunger strike is a conscious political choice of resistance. A choice made knowing the risks beforehand. The medical staff must be next to the patient by providing (in agreement with him/her) the necessary care instead of acting in a repressive way, just like another prison guard. From my side, I continue the hunger strike with no intention to retreat, supporting the demands of the Network of Fighting Prisoners:

– Abolition of counter-terrorism laws 187 and 187a

– Abolition of the law concerning special repressive treatment to actions commited wearing a hood.

– Limiting the use of DNA as a evidence.

– Abolition of type C prisons

-Release of the heavily injured urban guerrilla Savvas Ksiros, in order for him to receive the medical treatment he needs.

For every day that passes and for any deterioration of our health condition, the government of SYRIZA and specifically the minister of Justice Nikos Paraskevopoulos are to be held accountable.

IMMEDIATE SATISFACTION OF OUR DEMANDS

UNTIL THE END UNTIL VICTORY

Fivos Charisis

Communique of Network of Fighting Prisoners about the continuation of the hunger strike (Greece)

Friday, March 20th, 2015

Translated by Actforfree:

After the deposition of the legislation of the Ministry of Justice, there appears to be a first victory of the political prisoners’ hunger strike.

The abolition of the legal framework that defines the operation of the C’type prisons and the beneficial provisions for patients and disabled prisoners, that lead to the release of multi-injured guerilla of the revolutionary organization 17 November, Savvas Xiros, would feel (or at least not so soon) without the struggle that is being carried out. But there is much more to happen.

We do not care for any governmental statement or any promise coming from state employees. Every authoritarian mechanism that deals with a hunger strike by its stated enemies will go into a deterioration war that will include promises, negated deadlines, vague statements and anything that could wear us down physically and/or psychologically. Especially Syriza, who all during its political life as a major or minor opposition demeaned and de-politicized the hunger strikes carried out by anarchist hostages, has great experience in the systemic managing of such situations. Hunger Strike: Updates on the comrades Theofilos Mavropoulos and Giorgos Polydoros of CCF (Greece)

Friday, March 20th, 2015

Comrade–hunger striker Theofilos Mavropoulos (striker since 2/3 – member of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire) was transferred today [March 19] to the hospital of Korydallos prison because of intense dizziness and pains in the belly and kidneys.

He is currently located in the the State General Hospital of Nikea.

Victory to the hunger strikers, immediate satisfaction of their demands.

Not a step back

Comrade–hunger striker George Polydoros was transferred to a hospital outside prison. The comrade had undergone blood tests and doctors felt that the test should be repeated, because of some of the measurements which were not clear if there was something disturbing or not. So, while at first the comrade was moved to “Saint Paul” prison hospital, the fact that there is no equipment for conducting blood tests there, resulted in him being transferred to a hospital outside prison.

Victory to the hunger strike of our comrades, immediate satisfaction of their demands.

If something happens a hunger striker, nothing will be left unanswered.

Comrade Panagiotis Argyrou transferred to hospital (Greece)

Tuesday, March 17th, 2015

Update: Panagiotis was not transferred to the prison hospital, he was transferred to another hospital, out of prison.

Comrade Panagiotis Argyrou of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire : Imprisoned Members Cell was today (15th day on hunger strike) transferred to the hospital after a fainting shock. Panagiotis stayed in the hospital as a precaution. We don’t know when he’s going to be coming out yet.

International solidarity to the imprisoned fighters

War to the end

Update on the comrade Panagiotis Argyrou

In the morning, yesterday (17/3), comrade Panagiotis Argyrou (hunger striker since 2/3 – member of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire), suffered a fainting episode. He was transferred to “St. Paul” prison hospital, where after being diagnosed with low sugar, his hospitalization in a hospital outside prison was deemed necessary thus he was transferred with an ambulance escorted by cops to “Attico” hospital. There, the comrade refused serum administration, told the doctors that he is on hunger strike and then the doctors threatened him that they would seek a judge’s order in order for the comrade to be subjected to compulsory feeding. Comrade held a negative attitude, leaving no room for discussion and negotiation to suppress his hunger strike. Thus, the hospital “Attico” refused hospitalization, and he was moved back to the hospital of Korydallos prison. There, finding that comrade Panagiotis had very low sugar and there was a risk of him suffering a hypoglycemic shock, it was requested for him to be transferred again to a hospital outside prison. At this time, we do not know to which hospital he has moved. There will be a newer update when this becomes known.

Strength to comrade Panagiotis Argyrou who is in discomfort while being on hunger strike for 16 days.

Strength to the hunger strikers – members of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire that are on hunger strike since 02/03, demanding the release of the mother of Christos and Gerasimos Tsakalos and of the girlfriend of the latter.

Immediate and unconditional satisfaction of the demands of the hunger strikers.

Text by anarchist Aggeliki Spyropoulou (Greece)

Tuesday, March 17th, 2015

Inter Arma received and translated:

For two months now, after the revelation of the members of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire escape plan, a witch hunt started in any direction. Since my arrest, however, and after that, things have gone out of control, with the counter-terrorism unit dogs going beyond any limits. The constant and unrepentant action of some people, who stubbornly refuse to accept the power of the prison guards, who locks them up in the concrete every night, has outraged all those who cannot understand what it means to live in pride and dignity. They won’t settle for the ones who have openly stood against them but, now, they’re also targeting people who, despite the fact that they have no political connection with us, chose neither to abandon their own people, nor to turn their back on the chased ones. Dirty as they might play, though, they can’t make us back down. To every hit of theirs, we’re going to forcefully answer back and with our heads up. Inertia and passivity are not included in our characteristics. So, since 2/3, I take part in the hunger strike, along with the comrades of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire – Prison Cell, demanding the immediate release of Christos and Gerasimos Tsakalos’ mother and the second one’s girlfriend. We are determined to get to the end…

NOT A STEP BACK

P.S. What needs to be said is much more; however, it is important for someone to be able to dissociate the occasions, and what comes first now is the immediate release of the ones who have nothing to do with the case. All the rest can wait. At the moment, the only thing I have to say is that this is not the beginning and definitely not the end of a story, but it is about the route, and this is where beauty lies.

IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF THE RELATIVES OF THE CONSPIRACY OF CELLS OF FIRE MEMBERS

SUPPORT FOR ALL THE HUNGER STRIKERS’ FIGHT

1. For the abolition of the A’ counter-terror law (article 187),

2. For the abolition of the B’ counter-terror law (article 187A),

3. The abolition of the hood-law,

4. The abolition of the C’ type prisons law,

5. The liberation of Savvas Xiros for medical reasons,

6. The abolition of the Public Prosecutor provision requiring the violent taking of DNA (and generally, the police manipulation with the construction of culprits through DNA).

Text by Nikos Romanos about the hunger strike of political prisoners (Greece)

Monday, March 16th, 2015

Inter Arma received and translated:

On March 2, Anarchists/political prisoners began a hunger strike with demands aiming at the suppressive context of the counter-terrorist crusade that goes on smoothly, despite the left governance of the traders of hope. The anarchist comrades involved in the Network of Fighting Prisoners (NFP) and comrades Maziotis, Koufodinas and Gournas have put in a general framework that depicts the development of repression in recent years. That’s why each one of their demands separately deconstructs the emergency regime and its basic expression which is none other than repression.

After SY.RIZ.A was elected, many comrades -including me- believed that there was a need for provocations from anarchist perspectives in order to force SYRIZA to reveal its real face. The face of capitalism, the face of the managers of modern power, the face of the servants of Capital. Besides, to this masquerade with guests from all historical periods, viewers are forced to discover that beneath all the masks hides the face of power, which can neither be improved nor reformed, only destroyed, with continuous struggle by all means. And let all those anarchists that were dragged to the polls to cast a vote in SY.RIZ.A hear this. (more…)

Conspiracy of Cells of Fire: Imprisoned Members Cell – 'Salute to the solidarity actions' (Greece)

Sunday, March 15th, 2015

Inter Arma received and translated:

Every message and action of solidarity is a gesture of complicity and strength for the fight we give. A fight that goes beyond the faces of the political prisoners and releases a general dynamic. The dynamic of the anarchists to sabotage the reality of law’s decisions, the prisons’, the judges’ and that of the cops’. The dynamic to touch, each one with their own starting points and specialties, a perspective of substantial and dangerous conflict with the existent and the powerful. The dynamic to live anarchy here and now.

The first squats [occupations] (central offices of SY.RI.Z.A., The Law school, Chania, Rethymno, Veroia, Thessaloniki), marches, interventions outside prisons, actions of attack, counter information, have already disturbed the peaceful sleep of the cities. The regular circulation of humans and products, that indifferently move in the metropolis’ avenues, was interrupted, even for a little while, towards non-scheduled affairs.

A forceful squat or a march, unleashes, in fact, space and time of the enslaved reality. Space because it liberates ground, occupying it and reversing its symbolisms. So, the governing party’s offices and the Law School are slipping into liberated territories of counter-information and subversive plannings. Time because it smashes the clock of the scheduled routes in the city. The time – guard, which is being shared out to scheduled routes in the metropolis, home – school – coffee hours – shops – advertisements, disorganizes. It disorganizes towards a squatted building, a broken journalists’ van and moments of dispute are released for anyone to think of; not only whether we live in poverty, but also whether we live a way we are not included in.

This is why the cannibalistic propaganda of the journalists crudely attacks these actions of solidarity. It sets up a witch hunt in the caldron of the TV demagogy and launches caricatures of students – careerists of the law school (probably judges and attorneys in the future), who present the squatters as bullies.

But if the life of the hunger strikers and, mainly, the whole fight for freedom and dignity can be compared to some lost days of teaching, then this society, along with its civilization and its morality, needs to be defeated twice, for the world to be more beautiful and free.

STRENGTH & COMPLICITY TO THE PEOPLE IN SOLIDARITY

STRENGTH & SOLIDARITY WITH ALL THE HUNGER STRIKERS
