June 11th: The international day of solidarity with Marius Mason and long-term anarchist prisoners

June 11th: The international day of solidarity with Marius Mason and long-term anarchist prisoners. In the 15 years this tradition has been observed, June 11th has facilitated support and action inspired by imprisoned anarchists — from noise demonstrations outside of jails to letter-writing nights, from fundraisers to arson. Setting aside this day is one way of remembering anarchists who are serving long prison sentences, generating support for them, and inspiring solidarity actions.
Because social struggles phase in and out, this day is a way to make sure that our imprisoned comrades are not forgotten. Our lack of memory is partially a result of the techno-alienation of the larger culture we’re fighting against. But it’s also a product of the dynamics of the anarchist space. People become burnt out and the cycle of forgetting continues.
June 11th is a way of combating that amnesia, of trying to sustain a long-term memory in the anarchist space. Not only does this generate support for anarchists locked in the state’s prisons, it forces us to look back at what came before. Considering what previous generations did can both inspire us with ideas we’ve forgotten, and help us understand how our current practices came to be. (more…)

Solidarity actions in Athens for the June 11 day for long-term anarchist prisoners (Greece)
Wednesday, June 26th, 2013
June 11th has been defined as a day of international solidarity with comrades Eric McDavid and Marie Mason and with all political prisoners who are incarcerated all over the world. Imprisoned comrades experience this situation not only due to their direct action and the transubstantiation of their words into action, but also because of their choice to be anarchists.
In the struggle for degradation and destruction of state/authoritarian complex, anarchists comrades and activists-abroad and in Greece, too-consider as an integral part of animal and earth liberation human liberation, too.
In U.S.A., the Animal Liberation Front and the Earth Liberation Front have been proclaimed by FBI as the No. 1 enemy of domestic terrorism. Eric McDavid and Marie Mason were arrested in January 2006 and September 2008 respectively,
without proof but with plenty of accusations. The State’s choice of their imprisonment was far more than random. (more…)

#J11: International Day of Solidarity with Eric McDavid, Marie Mason & Long-Term Anarchist Prisoners
Friday, April 26th, 2013
June 11th is the international day of solidarity with Eric McDavid, Marie Mason, and other longterm anarchist prisoners.
The state stole Eric McDavid and Marie Mason from us in 2006 and 2008 respectively. In the years since their arrests, repression has come to feel less like a specific event and more like an inescapable, ongoing nightmare. Sentenced to 22 years and 20 years, respectively, Marie and Eric remain in cages to this day, and know this nightmare more intimately than most.
Lately, we hear lots of talk about the end times, and total environmental collapse seems imminent. But what do these forces mean to those inside prison cells? And what do they mean for us on the outside? We are trying to save both each other and some shred of wildness on this earth. Our task is difficult, and sometimes seems impossible, because the harder we fight, the more repression we face. Every day we lose more species, more land, more friends… and this process shows no signs of slowing. How do we survive and continue to struggle in the face of this reality? (more…)

International Day of Solidarity with Eric McDavid, Marie Mason & Long-term Anarchist Prisoners
Wednesday, June 8th, 2011
From the USA comrades organising the International Day of Solidarity with Eric McDavid, Marie Mason & Long-term anarchist prisoners. Revolutionary solidarity with our prisoners of war – A movement which forgets the prisoners is dead. This article is available as a PDF:
This is a strategy proposal for June 11th as a part of a broader push to develop livable support for long-term anarchist prisoners in the US. This statement specifically contemplates an audience of radicals & anarchists coming out of environmentalist, animal rights and/or anti-globalization milieus. Though, the readership is likely to include more people, that just happens to be my background and that Marie’s and Eric’s. (more…)
