Note: Article 14 bis of the Italian penitentiary law (not to be confused with 41bis) provides for special supervision of a prisoner.

Comrade Elisa has sent us information about our anarchist comrade Gabriel Pombo da Silva, who has already been transferred and is in the prison of Mansilla de las Mulas in León. Although she has not yet been able to speak directly with Gabriel, she knows that he is well and that the prison in Leon is a compliance prison, so they will want to keep him there for a while.
You can write to him and keep in touch with him at the following address:

26.06.2020: In view of the imminent transfer of our anarchist comrade, Gabriel Pombo da Silva, we warn you that if letters are sent to him at the Badajoz prison, they will probably be returned or lost.
Gabriel has already been informed of the transfer, but we still do not know when he will leave, nor for how many days he will be held (transfer in the ‘kangaroo van’ of the Guardia Civil), so we ask that you wait until we get a statement confirming his new destination.
If the penitentiary institutions and the prison authorities do not modify the “script”, the prison that awaits him is Mansilla de las Mulas in León, although most likely the transfer will not be direct and he will have to make the journey through other prisons.
In the Badajoz prison, hardly any mail came to our comrade, that is why to write to him, it is better to do it by registered letter to be able to report and claim the correspondence.
This is the address of the prison:

On June 8, 2020, the imprisoned deported Sardinian anarchist comrade Davide Delogu was transferred from the prison of Palermo Pagliarelli to that of Caltagirone.

Our comrade has been handed over to the Spanish State this morning (May 13) and is currently in the Badajoz prison (Extremadura). He is well and strong as always. Surely he will have to stay 14 days in a mandatory quarantine and then, supposedly, be transferred to another prison. In that sense, more information will follow.
Even if we have no guarantee that the mail will work regularly, it is obvious that it will not be a virus that is responsible for the fact that the letters of your loved ones and solidarity may not reach him! So it would be better to send registered letters (also as a result of recent problems that occurred in the Porto Judiciary Police jail where Gabriel was able to receive the correspondence only by documented registered shipments).

LONG LIVE ANARCHY!

Translated from Italian by Act For Freedom Now!
As our comrade Gabriel hasn’t written any official communique so far, these words intend to be precisely a communique/diary and a way of sharing with people and comrades in affinity what he thinks in regard to certain questions.
Gabriel explicitly asked his comrade/partner to select the passages (from letters he sent to her) where he reflects/analyses and/or speculates on interesting issues related to the current situation: «coronavirus» in prison, his judicial situation and the circumstances of his imprisonment.
Gabriel is in good health and spirits and he’s ready for the war he’s expecting in the jails of the Spanish State. In spite of the sentence issued by the Supreme tribunal of Lisbon confirming his consignment to the Spanish State, we still don’t know whether the «authorities» will extradite him without taking into account the «state of emergency» declared following the «Covid-19» «pandemic». As a matter of fact, the «state of emergency» itself (theoretically) is preventing prisoners from being extradited to other countries as long as it lasts.
More information to follow.
Long live anarchy!

We are experiencing the deepest systemic crisis that is killing. Covid 19 was created by deep poverty and inequality. Doctors have already spoken out about the new poverty conditions that all kinds of epidemics are hatching in different parts of the globe. Covid 19 is a child of inequality, and as it gets deeper, new viruses may be born that may be even more murderous than this coronavirus. Isn’t it time for political criticism? But it is the very system of capitalism and the market economy of political oligarchy called representative democracy that creates an ever-widening gap between wealth and poverty, resulting in an ever-increasing poverty spreading across many countries on the planet.
A prominent pulmonologist who has publicly raised the issue of extreme poverty as a cause of the pandemic and has said that if inequality is not addressed, we will continue to have such pandemic phenomena, never again appeared on television screens. The way covid 19 is treated is also done according to social and class conditions, although the system is essentially responsible for this development. Covid 19 may not discriminate against who it hits, but not everyone has the luxury of proper care (large homes with compliance with safety and hygiene, good nutrition) and not everyone has the ability to purchase overpriced materials to protect themselves, especially now with the millions of unemployed in Greece, locked in their homes and even exposed to hunger. Patients with covid 19 no longer have access to public hospitals that are already under the weight of the pandemic due to shortages of materials, infrastructure, and staff, while diagnostic tests are limited. We learn that Anna (an anarchist imprisoned since September 6, 2016, for the Scripta Manent operation, sentenced on April 24, 2019, to 17 years in the first instance sentence of the trial) has been transferred from Lecce prison to Messina prison. The transfer does not seem to be due to disciplinary measures but to the need to find free cells in Lecce prison.
Anna reported that she is fine despite the somewhat troubled trip on her cell phone, but from first impressions the situation looks better than in Lecce, being in a cell with shower inside and kitchenette. They would have told her that also in this case it is a temporary situation.
In Messina there is an AS3 section (Alta Sorveglianza 3, “High Surveillance 3”), generally anarchists accused of crimes of terrorism or subversion of the democratic order are imprisoned in the AS2 circuit but currently there is no female AS2 section for imprisoned anarchists, so the comrades are placed in AS3 sections. The female AS2 section for anarchists, in L’Aquila prison (whose conditions were almost equivalent to detention under 41bis), against which a long hunger strike was carried out between May and June 2019, was substantially closed.

Yesterday, January 29th, the sentence of first instance was issued for a trial in which four comrades from Pinerolo were accused. The proceedings, on charges of robbery and injury, involved a clash with a plainclothes carabiniere [a Carabinieri officer, one of the Italian law enforcement forces] during an anti-fascist protest in Pinerolo, in 2018: the charges relating to the carabiniere‘s injuries were dropped and the “robbery” was reclassified as “attempted robbery”, leading to the sentencing of all four defendants to 18 months’ imprisonment and payment of court costs. Since he was wronged with the physical damage, the cop has filed a claim for compensation for moral damages… 500 euros…
Certainly, even these heavy sentences confirm the criminalisation and repression that resistance movements and individuals in revolt are facing these days.
In the meantime, probably between 26 and 27 January, one of the 4 comrades on trial, Leonardo (Leo) – who was in prison in Lucca prison to serve a final sentence for another crime dating back to 2007 [it is a conviction for robbery in the trial for “Ardesia” repressive operation] – was transferred to the prison of Vibo Valentia for reasons that we do not know at the moment.
Solidarity to the comrades convicted for the facts of Pinerolo! Always enemies of cops and fascists!
Against dispersion and isolation: always at Leo’s side and those who resist in the streets and in the galleys!

Italy: Updates about some anarchist prisoners (January 2020)
We briefly summarize the latest updates on the situation of some anarchist prisoners in Italy.
On November 29, 2019 a search took place in the cell of the Sardinian anarchist Davide Delogu, imprisoned in the Rossano Calabro prison. At the same time, he was notified of the opening of an investigation for “association with the purpose of terrorism or subversion of the democratic order” (art. 270bis of Italian criminal code). Subsequently, he was returned some previously seized manuscripts. A week later, the guards informed him that a telephone had been found in the sewers of the prison and that they intended to charge him with its possession; Davide refused to be x-rayed and undressed.
We remind you that a solidarity fund has been opened for Davide Delogu, the coordinates are: Owner: Laura Gargiulo. Iban: IT27E0306967684510327514549.
This is the address of the comrade: Davide Delogu, C. R. di Rossano Calabro, Contrada Ciminata snc, 87067 Corigliano-Rossano (Cs), Italy.
For the repressive operation “Prometeo” (arrests of May 21, 2019) Natascia and Beppe remains in the prisons of Piacenza and Pavia respectively. On December 2, 2019, Robert, accused in the same operation, was released from Bancali prison, in Sardinia, without any precautionary measures. The release came following the decision of the court of review after the cassation, in October, had annulled the order of pre-trial detention for lack of “serious indications of guilt”. The appeal in cassation had been requested for Robert and Beppe, but for the latter it was rejected. Recently, the public prosecutor in turn lodged an appeal in cassation opposing Robert’s release; the hearing has been set for February 4, 2020. The “Prometeo” investigation is still open. The censorship in the correspondence of Natascia has been removed. (more…)

From Eric’s soli-crew
We have been unable to share a lot lately because of ongoing issues with the prison. We hope to be able to share lot more within the week but have a brief update Eric would like to send out.
Eric is being held since arriving at FCI Englewood indefinitely in segregation since arriving in August. The prison has yet to provide a reason for this detention. There is no disciplinary sanctions being served nor reason to continue to hold him in segregation.
He can not receive books. Letters need to be on white or lined paper. He can now receive newspapers and magazines. There has been a ton of mail held back and lost. He doesn’t have a lot of addresses anymore. If you haven’t heard from him, please write again. He really could use word from folks right now. Articles are amazing. So are PDFs of books, poetry, zines, ect.
Please be mindful that there is a security officer assigned to Eric reading everything that you send in. Englewood has already used alleged (as in doesn’t exist) mail to withhold visits. Please do not ask Eric about his case he cannot talk about it. Also know that he is being held in the same prison that an officer 2 years ago threatened his family (still employs). Tensions are high at the prison. Also anything sent also has the potential of ending up in his discovery as well, so please kept that in mind.

We learn that Stecco, an anarchist arrested on February 19th, 2019, in the context of the repressive operation “Renata” in Trentino, has been transferred from the AS2 (“High Surveillance 2”) section of the Ferrara prison to that of Modena. On December 5th the Trento court issued a sentence against the seven anarchists arrested for operation “Renata”: six were sentenced to sentences between 2 years and 6 months and 1 year and 9 months, while one was acquitted of all accusations. The accusations of “subversive association with the purpose of terrorism and subversion of the democratic order” (four defendants) and “attack for terrorism” (seven defendants) have fallen; the comrades were convicted of the crimes of “production of false documents”, “damage” and “violation of the arms law”. Stecco, due to a previous sentence that became definitive in between, is the only one to be imprisoned.

In recent weeks, as already written, Beppe was transferred from the AS2 [“High Surveillance 2”] section of the Rossano Calabro prison to the Pavia prison. The interview with the lawyer showed that he is in the protected section, where there are collaborators of justice, former law enforcement officers, sex offenders and trans and homosexual prisoners (who have explicitly requested to be among the protected). Beppe had requested to be transferred from the Rossano AS2, where the vast majority of prisoners are Islamic, due to incompatibility and had also requested an approach to his home, thus indicating the AS2 sections of the north-center of Italy where there are currently anarchist comrades. The provocative response to his request was the transfer to the protected section of the Pavia prison. Let’s not leave him alone!
