Communique for 9.3.2009 Athens Citibank bombing by Revolutionary Struggle (Greece)

Friday, April 8th, 2011

325 received this recent translation of an action that occurred in Athens, on 9.3.2009, against Citibank’s headquarters by the armed group Revolutionary Struggle [Epanastatikos Agonas – EA]. For the purpose of illuminating further and providing a platform of solidarity for their ideas and the actions of this inspiring revolutionary organisation, 325 presents this following communique. Revolutionary Struggle carried out many actions which were accompanied by anti-capitalist and social-libertarian critiques, often very pertinent to the times and topical. Amongst the actions they carried out was a missile attack against the American embassy in Athens, 12.1.2007. Revolutionary Struggle have written many important texts critiquing and explaining in simple language the role of the capitalist economy and the effect of the austerity measures, such as “The Only Answer to Modern Totalitarianism is Social Revolution”, which was published in 325 #8, accompanied by the text “A Political Letter to Society”. In this open letter, Kostas Gournas, Pola Roupa and Nikos Maziotis, anarchist comrades arrested in Athens 10.4.2010, take full responsibility for their involvement in Revolutionary Struggle along with their comrade Lambros Foundas, who was killed by Greek murderers in uniform during a gun battle whilst in the preparatory stages of an action. 3 other comrades, Vaggelis Stathopoulos, Christoforos Kortesis and Sarantos Nikitopoulos, who always denied their involvement in Revolutionary Struggle, and were jailed during the same 10.4.2010 ‘counter-terror’ wave, were set free 8.4.2011, on conditional liberty.

Freedom for Revolutionary Struggle – Honour to Lambros Foundas – Down with the State and Capital.

Communique:

We take full responsibility for the explosion at the Citibank branch on Lavriou Str. in Nea Ionia (Athens-Greece) on March 9th [2009]. Our action followed the attempt of February 18th, when we tried to blow up the Citibank headquarters on Achaias Str. in Kato Kifisia (Athens-Greece) using a car trapped with explosives. The specific operation was part of our organization’s strategic intervention as far as economic crisis and its originators are concerned, among which the international bank capital hold a predominant place. The use of a car trapped with 125 kg of petroleum ammonite was not just aiming at a small range token strike but it was intended to destroy the infrastructure of the particular multi-national company and thus make clear that its presence in the Greek territory is endangered. After all, one of the main objectives of a true revolutionary movement as well as an armed organization is to turn a country into a hostile ground for the criminal mechanisms of supranational capital conveyors, such as Citibank. Announcement of the 3 imprisoned members of Revolutionary Struggle concerning the use of Lambros Foundas' name in the arson of the Law School in Athens (Greece)

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

March 2011

Lambros Foundas gave his life fighting on the lines of the Revolutionary Struggle, an urban guerilla organization that operated alongside the exploited and oppressed.

He gave his life promoting a political project that aimed at the popular and proletarian counterattack on the conditions of modern totalitarianism, in which we live.

Our opinion as well as Lambros Foundas as members of the Revolutionary Struggle is that armed struggle is an essential tool of social-class struggle to overthrow capitalism and social revolution rather than a means to an existential affirmation of the individualistic insurrectionary experience of some. Anarchists attack RBS in Bristol (UK)

Monday, March 28th, 2011

24 March 2011

“In the framework of acting around the mass anti-cuts demo of 26th March 2011, we attacked RBS in Bristol during the night of 24th March 2011.

The main RBS building by Bristol Temple Meads was attacked by an anarchist affinity group armed with stones and glass bottles filled with paint, breaking windows and damaging staff vehicles. RBS, which was bailed out by the government, recently paid 780 million pounds in staff bonuses for the last year, plus 7.7million pounds bonus to RBS boss Stephen Hester. The government makes its money back by clawing it from the people at the base through the implementation of austerity measures and increased living costs, people who are already pushed to their limit.

We have acted outside the dimension of the mass demo on 26th March to make the point that, although some of us also attended there with the mass of the people on the streets of London, it is certain that our attack, solidarity and struggle demand of us that we act as well in our everyday lives and not just in the moment of spectacle. If the struggle stays at a certain level (essentially lobbying for the abolition of this or that law, the granting of certain rights, the manipulation of state finance, attending an ‘event’ etc), then the struggle will remain at a grotesque and unsatisfactory citizenism, perfectly in step with capital.

This action is dedicated to all those trapped in debt and struggling against the capitalist system on these islands, and it is also for those resisting corporate onslaughts abroad. We especially refer to those fighting against the Canadian Tar Sands mining project that RBS is funding, and to the peasants and allies fighting in Kulon Progo, Indonesia, against a similar project to extract iron from their coastline sands. The peasants in Kulon Progo specifically requested and appreciate attacks such as the one made against RBS on 24th March. The Indonesian state is not known for its record in human, animal and ecological welfare. Indonesia likes to hide behind the image of pleasurable modern tourism for rich Europeans and their university back-packer sons and daughters armed with gap-year money, mobile phones and laptops, whilst the reality on the ground is very different. British arms companies and banks have helped and continue to facilitate murderous deeds and carnage there.

Finally, we will never forget about the prisoners of the social war in Greece, where a sporadically strong anti-capitalist/anti-authoritarian/anarchist struggle has been happening now for years; this is for Simos Seisidis, who has a trial on 30th March 2011. We keep him in our hearts as an unknown friend and to him we extend our hugs; this is also for those prisoners of the Revolutionary Struggle – Nikos, Pola, and Kostas; for all the prisoners of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, those who take responsibility and those who are accused; this is for ALL of the comrades there, and also ALL the dignified prisoners here in the UK who do not bow their heads, outside or inside the walls… In these times if you don’t begin fighting, you are truly lost and deserve the contempt our enemies receive.”

Responsibility claim for arson attack against Emporiki bank in Kolonaki, Athens (Greece)

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

6 March 2011

“Our brothers fight…

They do not quit, they are not subjugated.
Our brothers by day conspire, and in the nights they move like shadows.
They sow destruction, they make passages, this is how they live.

They are not crawling ass-licking for the bread of the boss…

Our brothers seek comrades, to become one.
They do not spend their time on ephemeral relations, they look us deep in the eyes…

Our brothers stand up to the enemy since it does not frighten them. They are not afraid…

Fear is for bourgeois and snitches.

Our brothers stand proudly also in prison…

They do not regret, they do not comply with judges and people guards.

Our brothers do not beg for life.

They search for Freedom and go to the end.

Lambros Foundas is our brother, warrior of Freedom, member of Revolutionary Struggle, he fell in the battle, with a gun in his hand.

Tears do not suit our brothers, continuity of Struggle and attack suits them.

As a minimal token of honor we attacked the “Emporiki” bank on Skoufa street, in Kolonaki square, the early hours of Sunday 6th March.

We look up high, there where with other rare and beautiful makes plans. Grins to those that continue, to those that do not forget, to those that look at death and shout: Death does not exist!

HONOUR FOR EVER

Solidarity to the hostage Guerrillas of the Revolutionary Organisation Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, the Revolutionary Organisation Revolutionary Struggle and the Revolutionary Organisation 17th November.

Solidarity to the hostages of war that do not bow the head behind the bars of democracy.

Solidarity to the hunger strikers of the “bombs case” in Chile.

We raise our fists those that continue the hostilities…

FREEDOM TO ALL OF US”

Lambros Foundas, Eternal (Greece)

Friday, March 11th, 2011

On 10 March 2010 a revolutionary anarchist comrade fell in struggle against the murderers in uniform of the Greek democracy. Lambros was a known and loved fighter and friend to many people and his death will be avenged by our fight against the system. Continuation of the struggle that Lambros felt in his heart is our best dedication to the eternal spirit of freedom which he fell fighting for.

To all comrades, known and unknown, on the earth and with the stars, love and respect.

In life thunder

Charged with

genuine anguish for the choices, the tomorrow, the comrades, the struggle.

With sharp thoughts, forged in the bowels of personal labour and the movement.

With decisive acts, firm, flaming.

You showed with your life that the way of the revolutionary is to say little, to act with rage and devotion. With rage and conscience.

In your memory fists tighten…

Tears become weapons…

And the old Case becomes more imperative.

And in death a wolf

One

breath was enough for you, one decision and the iron will.

With the weapon in your hand and freedom in your eyes you chased your dreams to the end.

As you lived, this is how you left. Wild and free.

When revolutionaries die

they are not lost

They ride a star and draw courses of freedom in the indefinite.

They draw with their blood what each one of us dreams but is afraid to dare.

They are fireflies in the darkness of inertia.

They are the fire, the struggle, the street.

Lets all take the fire from their fire…

lets not forget – lets act.

Honour to anarchist

Lambros Foundas

The struggle continues.

LETS MAKE THE BEGINNING IN GREECE OF A WORLDWIDE SOCIAL REVOLUTION

“If someone today wants to open a profitable business, they should make guillotines”.

With the above phrase an American journalist describes the size of social rage in the USA. It is the first time historically, where the total of the developed capitalist world boils in rage and desperation for the rulers, for those that are to blame for this crisis, which not only are not punished but continue enjoying their privileges and increasing their profits. It stems from the rage at the poverty that expands, for the marginalization of wider and wider parts of society, for the injustice, since the rulers require that the people are sacrificed in order to face the crisis. Letter from Chilean Insurrectionists to the Informal Anarchist Federation

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

Thursday 30 of December of 2010

Collaborative Solidarity

We want to salute the FAI – Revolutionary Group Lambros Foundas, on the recent attacks against the embassies of Chile and Switzerland, in Italy. And with regard to the criticisms made about these actions by the political prisoners of Revolutionary Struggle (Greece), the comrades Pola Rupa, Nikos Maziotis and Kostas Gornas, we say they are within their rights to issue communications and to criticize the actions of other insurrectionalist groups. But we want to say that any civil servant of an embassy of the State of Chile is a political target, and we do not view them as we would another person because they are representatives and protoges of the system and it’s institutions.

Today we indicate that any civil servant of a diplomatic institution, the ambassador of the borders, is a potential target of attack, as a representative of the terror machine which are the nation-states. From here we want to say to the Informal Anarchist Federation – We hope that they get to hear our voices – that we are proud of the federated group called “Brothers in Arms – Nucleus Mauricio Morales/FAI”.

With words and deeds, this is our internationalism. To the dear Mauricio, we took it into our hearts. His death, and of all the revolutionaries fallen in combat, is an eternal call to fight. They will be vindicated by all comrades who send themselves to the joy of the combat, anywhere in the world. Their names and their examples fly freely. They are not the property of anybody.

HONOUR AND GLORY TO THE COMRADE MAURICIO MORALES!

HONOUR AND GLORY TO COMRADE LAMBROS FOUNDAS!

THE FAI LIVES!

From the territory of Chile,

Winter parcel bombs for Rome Embassies from Informal Anarchist Federation (Italy) + Statement from comrades of the Revolutionary Struggle (Greece)

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

23 December 2010

Parcel bombs explode at the Chilean and Swiss Embassies in Rome. 1 mail-room employee in each embassy is injured.

“We Have Decided To Make Our Voice Heard With Words And With Facts, We Will Destroy The System Of Dominance, Long Live The FAI, Long Live Anarchy.”

Informal Anarchist Federation – FAI – Revolutionary Cell Lambros Foundas

27 December 2010

Parcel bomb sent to the Greek Embassy in Rome. It is intercepted and defused.

“We’re striking again, and we do so in response to the appeal launched by our Greek comrades the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire.”

“For this reason we’re sending this new attack to a structure that represents the Greek state and its servants, in solidarity with our comrades arrested in Athens and the Conspiracy’s project which, like ours, is based on the action and method of revolutionary violence.”

(Greece) Statement of three jailed members of the organisation Revolutionary Struggle in relation to the attacks on the embassies in Rome)

“With regard to the parcel-bombs that were sent to the embassies of Chile and Switzerland in Rome on the 23/12/2010, that had as a result the injury of two employees, that was undertaken by the organisation “Informal Anarchist Federation – FAI – Revolutionary Cell Lambros Foundas”, we have to declare the following: As Revolutionary Struggle we selected always the realisation of actions that were politically aimed. They were aimed at the arrangement of the institutions and those that represented and protected them. We organised in such a way, so that injuries of persons that are not included in our political objectives is avoided and we would not allow such actions that would have that as a result. e.g the accidental wounding of an employee of an embassy, as it became in the previously mentioned attacks with the parcel-bombs. This perspective was always the basic beginning for the action of all of us, and naturally, our dead companion and member of our organisation, Lambros Foundas. For this reason, we ask do not make actions of such type in the name of our comrade.”

Pola Roupa, Nikos Maziotis, Kostas Gournas

OPEN LETTER TO THE ANARCHIST AND ANTI-AUTHORITARIAN MOVEMENT

Released by the FAI (Informal) in 2003 after a series of letter-bomb attacks against State targets across the EU.

As the consolidation of the EU is going on quickly and assuming all the wickedness of the political, economic, military-repressive choices of the various States, and as a European constitution that re-establishes and legitimates EU dominion is about to be ratified, the first Informal Anarchist Federation struggle campaign has started. We could not deny ourselves the pleasure of actively criticising the six-month’s Italian presidency of the EU, which is coming to an end. We are aware that, behind any official rhetoric, the decisions that have been taken during the last months will bring about new practises of exploitation and dominion. In Fortress Europe, where not only the borders between exploiters and exploited are defended with the arms, we oppose trade agreements and the militarization of the territory with free agreements between those who struggle against dominion, as we want to demonstrate that not only is the struggle possible, but it is also an absolute necessity.

Today we have attacked the repressive apparatus that plays the democratic farce and that will bring the main characters and institutions to the new European order:

-The various police departments, which will soon be backed by a European army, besides their traditional task of internal repression, have the basic mission of filtering the huge masses of poor people who want to step into Fortress Europe. In fact, only the workforce needed by the bosses is allowed to get in, the others are sent back to be exploited in their countries of origin.

-A prison system, which is more and more crowded and widespread, is consolidating its main role into repression. It is the last bastion in defence of the system, whereas starving salaries and the last remnants of the welfare are not sufficient to stem the anger of the exploited.

-Bureaucrats and politicians are always ready to plan and promote any adjustment that serves to keep the system alive. The actions carried out today, as well as the ones that will follow, are planned so as to avoid the possibility of striking innocent people. We will carry on demonstrating our profound hatred for the State and capital and our unbounded love for a world free from the dominion of men over men and of men over nature. We are not the only ones, nor are we the last. In every street, in the day and in the night, we see that the same destructive-constructive tension for a better world is growing. We were in Genoa, we were in Saloniki, we were on the Italian roads last night, and tomorrow we will be on new roads to fight the misery of the existent.

Attack and destroy the responsible for repression and exploitation!

Attack and destroy prisons, banks, courts and police stations!

Revolt is contagious and can be reproduced!

Social war against capital and the State!

WHO WE ARE
We have created the Informal Anarchist Federation, that is to say a federation formed either by groups of action or by single individuals, in order to go beyond the limits implied in single projects and to experiment the real potentialities of informal organisation. We strongly believe that only a chaotic and horizontal organisation, without bosses, authorities or central committees taking decision, can fulfil our need for freedom here and now. Our goal is to have an organisation reflecting the view of the anarchist society, which we struggle for. This is intended as an instrument and not as the copy of some old armed party or as an organisation looking for adepts. If it were not an instrument to be used for testing the efficiency of informal organisation and its capacity of strengthening quality and continuity of the revolutionary action, it would be absolutely useless and would certainly die out. Through widespread actions it is possible to conciliate organisation and theoretical/practical debate on the one hand, and the anonymity of groups/individuals on the other. Actions, in fact, besides bringing their specific message of destruction/construction, also propose other kinds of message, such as the ones implied in their methods and instruments. In this case the damage caused does not matter. We are aware that it will not be a well-armed minority group that will stir up revolution, and we are determined not to postpone our insurrection waiting for everybody to be ready: we are more and more convinced that a simple direct action against institutions is more effective than thousands of words.

FEDERATION because of its widespread horizontal structure, that is to say federation of groups or individuals, free and equal men and women bond together by common practises of attack against dominion and aware that mutual support and revolutionary solidarity are instruments of freedom. Relationships inside the federation are stable and flexible at the same time; they evolve continuously thanks to the ideas and practices brought in by new individuals and groups that will join. We do not want any democratic federation, as this would involve representatives, delegates, official meetings, committees, and organs implying the election of leaders, charismatic figures and the imposition of specialists of speech. In the informal federation, communication must be based on a horizontal and anonymous debate, which will come out of the practise (claims of actions) and of the widespread of theories through the means of communication of the movement. In other words, the meeting will be substituted by an anonymous and horizontal debate between groups or individuals who communicate through practise. The federation is our strength, that is to say the strength of groups or individuals that help one another through a well-defined pact of mutual support.

ANARCHIST because we want the destruction of capital and the State. We want a world where only freedom and self-organisation ‘dominate’, and a society where exploitation of men over men and of men over nature does not exist. We strongly oppose any Marxist cancer, which is nothing more than a fascinating and dangerous siren that claims freedom for the oppressed but actually denies the possibility of a free society and just substitutes one dominion with another.

INFORMAL because we do not believe in vangards nor do we think that we are an enlightened active minority. We just want to live as anarchists here and now and this is why we consider the informal organisation as the only kind of organisation capable of preventing the creation of any authoritarian and bureaucratic mechanism. It allows us to keep our independence as individuals and/or groups and to resist power with continuity. The Informal Anarchist Organisation practises the armed struggle but it refuses classic monolithic organisations implying a base, regular and irregular members, columns, executive cadres, huge amounts of money and living on hiding. We think that this kind of structures is an easy target for power. In fact, an infiltrated cop or an informer is sufficient to have the whole organisation or a good part of it collapsed like a house of cards. On the contrary, as the informal organisation is formed by 1000 individuals or groups that do not know one another (as they recognize one another through the actions they carry out and the mutual support bonding them), if by some unfortunate chance infiltrators or informers should come out, this would affect a single group without spreading to the others. Furthermore, whoever takes part into the Informal organisation is a militant only when preparing and carrying out an action. The organisation, therefore, does not affect the entire life and projects of the comrades so that all kinds of armed-struggle sectarianism are avoided. Once we are well rooted, power will find it very difficult to destroy us.

The pact of mutual support is the strong point of the Anarchist Informal Organisation and it pivots on three key points based on the above mentioned anarchist revolutionary project, and that come into play when individuals or groups decide to join the Anarchist Informal Organisation:

1. REVOLUTIONARY SOLIDARITY
Each group of action in the Anarchist Informal Organisation is engaged in showing revolutionary solidarity to comrades who are arrested or are on hiding. This solidarity will show itself mainly through armed action and the attack against men and structures responsible for the imprisonment of comrades. Solidarity will always be practised as an indispensable feature of anarchist way of life and action. Of course we do not refer to legal and technical support: bourgeois society offers a sufficient number of lawyers, social workers and priests, which means that revolutionists can be engaged in another kind of activities.

2. REVOLUTIONARY CAMPAIGNS
When a group or individual starts a revolutionary campaign through the deeds and related communiqués, other groups and individuals in the Anarchist Informal Organisation will follow according to their methods and time. Each group or individual can launch a struggle campaign on specific targets through one or more actions signed by the single group or individual and by the claim of the Federation. If a campaign is not agreed by the other groups, the critic will show itself through actions and communiqués that will contribute to correcting or discussing it.

3. COMMUNICATION BETWEEN GROUPS OR INDIVIDUALS
The groups of action in the Anarchist Informal Organisation are not required to know one another. This will avoid repression to strike them and possible leaders or bureaucrat from emerging. Communication between groups or individuals is carried out through the actions and through the channels of the movement without them to know one another directly.

P.S. Any reference to the FAI Italian Transport Workers Federation (Federazione Autotrasportatori Italiani), to the FAI Italian Anarchist Federation (Federazione Anarchica Italiana) and to the FAI Italian Fund for the Environment (Fondo Italiano per l’Ambiente) is a pure coincidence. We apologise to the people concerned.

Rome, Italy – The boy wounded at the Chilean embassy is Cesar

from Informa-Azione

We have received and are forwarding a few lines of an e-mail received in recent days:

“The Chilean boy wounded by the letter bomb is Cesar. A comrade and a friend involved with the experience of Ciclofficina Popolare (people’s bike workshop) of the Ex Lavanderia (the former laundry).

We found out today.

Suddenly, for us, the natural compassion for an injured person is no longer tempered by anonymity.
Behind this story of national importance there is a person whose name, face and voice we know.

Now Cesar is in hospital, with two fingers less and we are angry. […]”

International Call for Solidarity from members of Revolutionary Struggle (Greece)

Monday, December 13th, 2010

Comrades,

We are three political prisoners, members of the armed group Revolutionary Struggle [Epanastatikos Agonas], and we send you militant greetings from the Greek prisons.

We were arrested in April 2010 along with other three comrades who are being accused of involvement in the organization. Since then, we have been on pretrial detention [under the terrorism act], waiting to be referred to a trial in the first months of 2011.

In an open political letter to society, the three of us claimed political responsibility for our participation in the organization of Revolutionary Struggle. In this way, we defended our actions which were directed against the Capital and the State, and contributed through practice and speech towards the overthrow of the State and capitalism, aiming at social revolution, at a non-statist, anti-authoritarian, communal and communist society, in which assemblies and councils of the people will undertake social, political and economic operation and management. Communiqué for prisoners in Greece (Mexico)

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

Time passes and everything stays the same… It could be for some like this, describing the reality that whips many of us, under a pessimistic pretext, like at the end of their conviction. Repression goes up a level, hate against the poor, destruction of the environment, exploitation of human dignity, assassinations of lives, like the small wild life that remains on this planet called Earth. Nothing has changed. Little we have influenced in the disruption of this reality, of this world that our free minds don’t belong to. If nothing has changed it’s perhaps for the lack of obligation, of courage and of conviction. For many this all seems like a game, to stand with a placard, yell a slogan, reform a law, only to alleviate their sense of guilt… but for many others this is serious, the thing here is, to what point one is seriously willing to go? Announcement of the three members of Revolutionary Struggle (Greece)

Friday, November 5th, 2010

In the modern junta of the I.M.F., the E.C.B., the E.U. and the Greek government, methods from the Nazi occupation in Greece are being mobilized. Just like when the Nazis attacked the families and the social environment of the guerrillas in order to isolate them and exterminate them easier, today the modern fascists that govern us target families, friends and comrades of ours and of the three comrades that are in prison accused of participating in “Revolutionary Struggle”, in an operation to terrorize a whole political movement, through new persecutions and mass interrogations. Solidarity with the comrades of Revolutionary Struggle (Greece)

Monday, November 1st, 2010

We believe that the death of Lambros Foundas by the uniformed murderers as well as the arrests of the six fighters for their participation or for their alleged participation in the Revolutionary Struggle, are integral facts of their historical-social frame. We consider them as the first and heavy losses in the new phase of growth of class war that has been signaled by the capitalistic crisis. We feel that Lambros did not simply leave one day of March, but fighting on the eve of a general strike, while the six arrested as well as all the imprisoned fighters, are missing from us in the streets in these important as well as difficult days that have come, these days where the subversive-liberating argument must and can be applied with new intensity and momentum.

The three comrades who took responsibility for the actions of Revolutionary Struggle show that fighting for what you believe in is not a task that only the “elite” can take on. Its in everyone that has suffered in the system that has been created to control us. The state knows they are the real terrorists and as long as no one is fighting back they have nothing to fear. Its time to show them enough is enough and attack it with all means available.

“And if the terrorists Papandreou and Chrysohoidis are laughing (in vain) about our arrests; if they believe they have thus guaranteed the necessary security for their social-fascist party to easily continue imposing their criminal projects on society, wagging their tails to please their American masters; if they are hoping they have eliminated a serious threat to their regime, we assure them that it will not be so easy to do away with us.

While we live and breathe, we will do everything possible to cause trouble for their antisocial, criminal projects.

And if our persecutors and this country’s political establishment believe they have all of society on their side, if they believe most people see us as a “social threat,” they are wrong.” Excerpt from the Political Letter to Society from the Revolutionary Struggle members (See 325 #8 for the full text).
