Translated by Tormentas de Fogo.
“Operation Érebo” the earth moves.
Agitations and anarchic reflections the wind blows.”
At dawn on October 25, 2017 the weather darkened for the anarchists of Porto Alegre. The Civil Police with the so called “Operation Érebo [Erebus]” launched raids and assaults televised by the local media and transmitted by the speakers of the system in maximum volume.
From this police reaction, from the show and media scrape, and from the agitation in the anarchist orbit a thousand and one needs, urgencies, ideas, impulses and feelings have crossed us. From this reflection was born this will to communicate. We point our determination against the enemy and we strengthen our pace with those who live anarchy in its positions and practices.
Our natural tendency to chaos. (more…)

On July 12, the day before the World Cup final match, the Police of Rio de Janeiro arrested 19 activists, aiming at disintegrating the big protest scheduled for the final’s day, on the grounds that they would have taken part in “violent” acts in riots last year and they would be planning other actions in the final manifestation of the World Cup. In total 23 search warrants and arrest and temporary detention were met against people accused of participating in social movements, the mandates were 5 days of probation, four people managed to escape the police kidnapping.
The activists were taken to the City of Police in Rio de Janeiro, a large complex of police departments built to take care of the repression of the people challenging the mega-events and the logic of the market town. In this large complex is the DRCI, Bureau of Suppression of Computer crimes, which currently plays the role of the historic Precinct of Political and Social Order, the infamous DOPS created in 1924 to suppress the anarchists, mainly used during the Vargas era and later Military regime in 1964, in order to control and repress political and social movements opposed to the regime in power. The kidnapped activists were all sent to the prison complex of Bangu. (more…)

We are passing through a moment when there is a lot of discussions about political prisoners in Brazil, and especially in our town, Rio de Janeiro. To us all prisoners are political prisoners, nowadays we hear a lot this sentence, but we don’t discuss it’s real meaning and implications. We would like to take a deeper look at questions related do incarceration in our society and among our fellow comrades. Therefore we invite everyone to take part in the activities of the International Week of Solidarity with prisoners here in Rio de Janeiro, from the 23 of August to the 31. (more…)

… At the main gate of the Polytechnic School, on Patission Street, we dropped a banner against the London Olympics, now in progress. The banner reads: “Smash the OlymPIGS and the capitalist wankers – Arson and wildfire to the Olympic ideals – Burn, London, burn”… The Olympic ideals are stinking of money, militarization and repression. We don’t forget the comrades who, despite the super-spectacle set up by cops, military and mass media, are stepping forward and spitting the society of submission on its face. Let us also remind people of the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, as well as the need to organize an international campaign against the displacements of oppressed populations who are living in the Brazilian favelas.
… From some place of Tenerife (Canary Islands), the name of which we don’t want to remember we have wanted to unite the callout made by Contra Info for actions of international solidarity.
