Athens: Armed attacks against Mexican and French Embassies – Communique from the ‘Organisation of Revolutionary Self-Defense’ – ‘Towards a New International Revolutionary Movement’ (Greece)
Tuesday, November 14th, 2017
On Sunday 31st of August, a little before dawn, we carried out an armed intervention against the Mexican state, by shooting at the building of its embassy in Athens. On Wednesday 9th of October, at quarter to five a.m. we carried out another armed intervention against the French state, by throwing a hand grenade next to the guard of its embassy in Athens, opposite the Greek parliament. These two aggressive actions of our organization, together with our first armed intervention on the 25th of May 2014 against PASOK, defy in deed the armed domination of the Greek state and at the same time they express the vision of social revolution and of the dissolution of authoritative institutions here and now.
In order to construct a revolutionary movement on sturdy foundations, we must study the defeats of the past. We must focus on the contradictions of past movements and analyze the dynamics of class antagonism today, as a result of a historical evolution. The totalitarian capitalist aggression, which began two and a half decades ago and spreads around the globe, is connected to the fundamental crisis of the socialist movement.
The main contradiction which brought about the demise of the revolutionary wave of the 20th century is statism. Parliamentary democracy, dictatorship of political parties and, at the same time, the repression of workers’ self organization implanted bourgeois authority in the loins of social revolutions, ever since the French revolution. The revolution in Russia was led by a political and technocratic elite. (more…)

Statement of Revolutionary Struggle member Nikos Maziotis about the U.S. State Department list of international “terrorists” (Greece)
Thursday, April 23rd, 2015
In 2009, the anarchist urban guerrilla group Revolutionary Struggle (Epanastatikos Agonas) was designated a “foreign terrorist organization” by the U.S. Department of State, in the aftermath of a rocket propelled grenade attack against the U.S. Embassy in Athens in January 2007.
On April 21, 2015, the State Department issued “terrorist designation” against one of the members of Revolutionary Struggle, anarchist prisoner Nikos Maziotis. The next day, the comrade issued the following statement in response:
“Whoever is not with us is against us”
– from a speech of U.S. President George W. Bush after September 11, 2001
“We are not with you, we are against you”
– from a statement of Nikos Maziotis to the special court in Koridallos prisons on June 11, 2012 regarding the Revolutionary Struggle attack on the U.S. Embassy
The State Department admittedly did me great honor by including me in the list of international “terrorists”. This is the second time that the planetary killers honor me as a Revolutionary Struggle member, since they had placed a one-million-dollar bounty on me along with other members of the organization after the Revolutionary Struggle attack against the U.S. Embassy in Athens in January 2007. Network of Imprisoned Fighters end their 48 day hunger strike after Greek parliament agree to significant portion of the demands (Greece)
Sunday, April 19th, 2015
Network of Imprisoned Fighters (DAK) announce the end of their 48 day old hunger strike after a vote in the Greek parliament paved the way for a significant portion of the comrade’s demands to be met.
These include: redefining of the legal framework regarding Type-C prisons, revision of the so-called ‘Hoodie Law’ (severe sentencing for those caught committing crimes while masked) – judges will now be able to exercise their own discretion in such cases, the involvement of an independent expert from the first stage of DNA collection in cases that involve DNA evidence and the release from prison to house arrest for N17 comrade Savvas Xiros who is extremely unwell and legally considered to be 98% disabled; this would also apply to all prisoners who are considered to be 80% disabled or over.
“These 48 days of tenacious struggle at a tactical level ended with a positive outcome that reaped dividends for those at ‘the bottom.’ A positive result also for the global fight against the bosses and the new totalitarianism which they impose as well as another step closer towards a classless society. Our aim is to use this victory and the new territory gained to become even more dangerous to those in power. We share the life-giving flames of victory with all those who saw this struggle as a common cause and took part in our fight.”

On April 7, 2015 following a protest of 1.500 – 2.000 anarchists in the center of Athens, riots erupted in Exarchia to bring attention to a mass hunger strike of political prisoners taking place in Greece since March 2, 2015. At the moment (April 10) 8 anarchists still continue the hunger strike, some of them for the 40th day.
The political prisoners demand from the so-called left government of SYRIZA:
– Withdrawal of the special anti-terrorist legislation for political activists (laws 187A and 187)
– Withdrawal of the special repressive laws (“anti-hoodie” law)
– Abolition of the “C-type” prisons
– Delineation of the use and processing of DNA as legal.
– Immediate release of disabled prisoner “Savvas Xiros” (98% handicapped)

An evening event was organized on Monday, March 16 in Brussels by the “Initiative for solidarity with the Greece that resists” with the presence of a Greek politician (not the Syriza MP as announced but Epaminondas Marias, from the rightist party of the “Independent Greeks” – ANEL). Members of Secours Rouge/Red Aid intervened by speaking out, with leaflet distribution and deployment of a support banner for the demands of the Greek political prisoners on hunger strike (abolition of special repression laws, isolation prisons (Type C) and the release of Savvas Xiros, member of 17 November).

HUNGER STRIKE: CONSPIRACY OF CELLS OF FIRE – UNLESS WE DIE FOR EACH OTHER, WE ARE ALREADY DEAD
On March 3rd, “justice” decided on the pre-trial detention of the mother of the comrades Christos and Gerasimos Tsakalos and the second one’s girlfriend, with the charge of accession and participation in a terrorist organization.
Behind the obvious ridiculousness of the charge, it is the morbid vindictiveness of the counter-terrorism unit and the judicial authority in hiding, which wishes to blackmail emotionally both the two comrades and all of us. It is not just a vengeance tending to the zillion, it is an attempt to disqualify us. Essentially, they demand an unconditional surrender from us, a silent truce and a farewell to dignity, otherwise there will always be some “hospitable” cells for our relatives in the prisons of democracy.
We will not do them the favor. The war against the power has been indelibly forged inside us and flows like blood in our veins. We will not hand over one millimeter to the enemies of freedom, judges and cops.
We are facing the most vulgar sentimental siege. Beloved ones, who have no political affinity with us, but only a biological and sentimental one, have been kidnapped and kept as hostages by the judicial mafia. In this specific case, the priesthood of justice even abrogates the ridiculousness of its own official rules since, on the pre-trial detention measure, their “holy” law stipulates that «pre-trial detention shall apply only in cases where the defendant is suspected of escape or committing similar offenses».
Which one, even of our enemies, thinks that our relative are “suspected of escape” or “committing crimes” – which they haven’t actually committed? Apparently no one…
This narration of the current affairs is not a part of a personal story or an emotionally charged bracket during the experience of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire.
On the contrary, it is a part of the total repression strategy, coordinated by the high priests of judges, cops and journalists.
The first doors have already started to knock at dawn…
On Saturday, the police operation under the code name “Galatas” (“Milk man”) is made known, in order for the fugitive – member of the R.S. (Revolutionary Struggle) to be tracked down [Pola Roupa], while press reports talk about possible research in the paternal home of the member of R.S., Nikos Maziotis. Moreover, the same day, police and public prosecutors raid anarchists’ homes, after an «anonymous phone call concerning the existence of weapons and explosives».
Although the conclusion of the researches was concentrated into the fucking official paper with two words, «nothing found», in fact, we are in the preface of police and judicial heavy handedness.
Inside this confounded field, where sadness and rage mix with each other, at the same time, with our own hunger strike about the liberation of our relatives, there’s the hunger strike against the C’ type prisons, the terror-law, the 187 law, the hood-law, the fascist police manipulation of the taking of DNA, as well as the liberation of Savvas Xiros taking place. This hunger strike was organized and announced long ago and has our full political agreement. We urgently decided on our hunger strike, as a gag reflex to the captivity imposed to our relatives.
These two hunger strikes are, however, directly linked as they meet as the supplementation of one another. Specifically, the hunger strike about the liberation of our relatives is the physical and political ramification of the terror law application, whose abolition is set as a request of the other political prisoners’ hunger strike.
In our case, we propose the pointed–personal reference to our relatives, because the threat of the constant upgrading of the terror law, from an image of the future, has turned into the fascist current reality, which captivates our own people.
This is why there is no middle way. Either our relatives are released, or there will be the first hunger strikers to die during the last 40 years in Europe, with a left government as a background.
We once more make clear that we don’t ask a thing for ourselves. We have claimed full political responsibility for the whole plan of our escape from Koridallos prison, we have made our self-criticism on our “failures” in public and we keep unrepentant our will for freedom and anarchy, which will only come from our own hands, not by the passive awaiting of the laws.
What we demand is the liberation of our relatives, kidnapped by power.
It would be conscientious and emotional suicide, if we tried to transfuse our political features to this case. No matter how much we hate the logic of victimization, we would be blind if we did not recognize that, in this case, our relatives are the prosecutors’ scapegoats – trophies for our choices.
This is why, when we talk about our relatives, we don’t completely release our words’ roughness, as we do not intend to play political games on the backs of our people. Moreover, nor their legal defense has anything to do with the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire. We will always be by their side, the way they have been by our side, without our political choices intersecting.
The only certain thing is that we maintain our roughness and the absoluteness of our own choices to the decision on hunger strike until death. We move on with the confidence of the ones playing it all for the triumph of the unconquered and free life.
Perhaps it is blood needed for the freedom to grow. But this is how it is…
We die the way we chose to live; with dignity that won’t capitulate even against death.
Because, genuine freedom only exists in the struggle for freedom.
WE NEVER FORGET – WE NEVER FORGIVE
HUNGER STRIKE UNTIL THE DEATH FOR THE LIBERATION OF OUR RELATIVES
SOLIDARITY AND VICTORY TO ALL HUNGER STRIKERS’ STRUGGLE
1. For the abolition of the A’ counter-terror law (article 187),
2. For the abolition of the B’ counter-terror law (article 187A),
3. The abolition of the hood-law,
4. The abolition of the C’ type prisons law,
5. The liberation of Savvas Xiros for medical reasons,
6. The abolition of the Public Prosecutor provision requiring the violent taking of DNA (and generally, the police manipulation with the construction of culprits through DNA).

On March 2nd 2015, combative prisoners launched a hunger strike in various Greek prisons. Their main demands are: the abolition of Article 187 (criminal organisation) and Article 187A (terrorist organisation) of the Greek Penal Code; of the “hoodie law” (acts committed with concealed physical characteristics); of the legal framework for Type C prisons; of the prosecutorial provision of forcible taking of DNA samples – and the immediate release from prison of Savvas Xiros (convicted for his participation in the R.O. 17 November) on health grounds.
So far, those who have joined the political prisoners’ mobilisation and collective hunger strike are three urban guerrillas incarcerated in the E1 wing of Domokos type C prison: Dimitris Koufontinas, Kostas Gournas, and Revolutionary Struggle member Nikos Maziotis – and five participants in the Network of Imprisoned Fighters (DAK): Antonis Stamboulos (Larissa prison), Tasos Theofilou (Domokos prison), Fivos Harisis, Argyris Ntalios and Giorgos Karagiannidis (Koridallos prison). The rest of the comrades who participate in the Network of Imprisoned Fighters will join the hunger strike in the coming days.
Furthermore, in the E1 wing of Domokos type C prison, Giorgos Sofianidis has been on hunger strike since February 27th, requesting the abolition of type C maximum security prisons, in addition to his immediate transfer to Koridallos prison in order to continue his studies – and as of today, March 2nd, Mohamed-Said Elchibah also went on a hunger strike.
