War against ISIS/Daesh: Massacre in Suruç as terror spreads across the border – over 50 dead and at least 100 injured in Islamist bombing – Call for international solidarity from MLKP (Turkey)
Monday, July 20th, 2015
20 July 2015 – A female suicide bomber with allegiances to Daesh/Islamic State is believed to be responsible for causing a blast in Suruç district of Urfa, which targeted around 300 members of Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) before their journey into Kobanê for reconstruction activities.
Over 50 young people were killed and over a 100 more were wounded, according to initial reports. The blast occurred in the garden of Amara Cultural Center, where the young people had been staying since their arrival in the district yesterday. The youths gathered in the garden to release a statement to the press before crossing into Kobanê. At the press gathering, a group of young people are chanting slogans while holding the federation’s flags and a large banner with the words: “We defended it together, we are building it together.” In the video recording of the meeting, an explosion rips through the young comrades instantly turning the scene into carnage. The garden of the culture center became a blood bath after the blast as the bodies of the youths were scattered around in pieces.
Suruc is a small Kurdish-majority city just a 15-minute drive from the border with Kobane. Suruc houses many refugees who have fled the fighting in Kobane. Kurdish activists in Suruc played a vital role during the siege of Kobane, sending food and medicine to the YPG Kurdish fighters to bolster their supplies. Many journalists and foreign fighters who wanted to go to Kobane went to Suruc and from there were sent on. There was panic in Suruc after the attack, with shopkeepers closing up for fear of a second attack. Suruc residents had feared that they could be the next target of Daesh ever since the attack on the pro-Kurdish party HDP election rally in Diyarbakir which took place on 5 June.
Massacre in Suruc! Call for International Solidarity
This morning there was a massacre in the northern Kurdish city of Suruc against the participants of a delegation of the Federation of the Socialist Youth clubs (SGDF). Many young people were killed and injured in the bombing. The 300 young people were en-route to Kobanê for a week to rebuild the city to help out.
We call upon you to organise international solidarity actions between the 21-22nd July to protest against the massacre and the bloody policy of the AKP dictatorship [Turkish ruling party] and the fascist gangs of ISIS.
With revolutionary greetings
Turkey / Kurdistan

The following article is an interview with an environmentalist, vegetarian anarchist from Turkey who is a member of Sosyal Isyan (Social Insurrection) fighting as part of Birleşik Özgürlük Güçleri (United Freedom Forces) alongside the YPG / YPJ in Kobane, Rojava. Environmentalist, vegetarian, anarchist combatants who fight in Kobane.
We are sitting at the headquarters of United Freedom Forces (Birleşik Özgürlük Güçleri) in Kobane. I ask for a cigarette from a fighter aiming to meet and talk with him. While he offers one, I’m asking how many group form the United Freedom Forces. He says that, this force consist of salvationists (Kurtuluşçular), MLSPB, TDP and anarchists and indicates that he is an anarchist too.
What is the aim of fighting here for the anarchists?
I’m one of the founders of Social Insurrection and also their spokesperson. When the attack of ISIS started in Kobane, in the name of international solidarity, not considering it too much, we idealized to raise the defense as International Brigades much like in the Spanish Civil War.
United Freedom Forces was formed by different socialist factions from Turkey. Being an anarchist, how did you become involved with this structure?
United Freedom Forces was founded when we arrived. We made a call to anarchists and ecologists. (more…)

The Mediterranean Regional Agency of the Association of Human Rights (IHD) held a press conference with HDP (Unity Party of the Left, which is backed by several legal parties from the Turkish revolutionary movements, which has just obtain 13% of votes in the last Turkish elections).
This press conference concerned the prisoners of PYD (Democratic Union Party), its armed wing (YPG and YPJ) and other inhabitants of the canton of Kobanî. They are more than 150 in Turkish prisons, mostly imprisoned in Osmaniye T2 prison. In this prison, prisoners are 10-12 in cells designed to hold 3 people.
The prison guards systematically provoke the prisoners by calling them terrorists, beating, undressing them and searching them regularly and preventing them from wearing their cell shoes. The quality of food is terrible and access to journalists is prohibited. Most of the prisoners are detained for no other reason than having fought against the Islamic State. (more…)

Here in Germany two communist prisoners from Turkey, who had been sentenced according to the “antiterror-paragraph §129b”, achieved victories by means of long hungerstrikes: Sadi Özpolat starved 43 days and Gülaferit Ünsal 54 days. They fought against censorship, prison clothing and intimidation. They didn’t fight in the prison alone. Together with Gülaferit 6 other prisoners starved as well in solidarity.
Taken from one of our speeches (“Network of all political prisoners”, Hamburg) in front of the Berlin prison, where Gülaferit is jailed: (29.5.2015)
“This is a draconic assault to all prisoners. More than 100 yearly commit suicide, living under similar conditions as Gülaferit, without any hope and unwilling to vegetate isolated anymore.”
9 political prisoners of armed groups like RAF, who organised collective resistance against such conditions, didn’t survive in prison in the seventies and eighties.

Haringey Solidarity Group and Kurdistan Anarchists Forum
June 3, 2015
First of all, I should mention a couple of issues in Kurdistan of Turkey (Bakur) that are strongly connected to the subject. Between 08/05 and 22/05/15 I visited a number of big towns in Bakur, including: Amed (Diyarbakir), Van, Colemerge (Hakari) and Gavar. Later I returned to Suruc and was hoping to cross the border to Kobane.
My main purpose for visiting there were three important points: First: understanding the similarity and differences between the Democratic Self Administration (DSA) in Bakur and Rojava. Second: Reconstruction of Kobane, and Third: the type of economy that Rojava can have in the future. Although the friends in Peoples Democratic Party (HDP), other organisations and the Working Committees of Rojava in Amed and Suruc tried hard to arrange my trip to Kobane but it did not happen.
