Lamia: Kostas Gournas, on hunger strike since 2/3, currently hospitalised (Greece)

Tuesday, March 24th, 2015

Since yesterday, March 23rd, anarchist prisoner on hunger strike Kostas Gournas (convicted Revolutionary Struggle member) has been moved from the type C maximum security prison of Domokos to the provincial hospital in Lamia, where the conditions are indescribably appalling, the prisoners are placed in isolation room-cells, and communication with them becomes difficult if not impossible.

In a brief telephone conversation just before his transfer, the comrade said: “The Ministry of Justice urges us to stop the hunger strike and rely on them… How much ‘reliability’ their commitments have as part of this government is demonstrated every day as they rip out the Memorandum and the implementation laws, cancel the ENFIA single property tax, and request a write-off of a large part of the debt… I only rely on the struggle. I continue the hunger strike.”

Athens: Local offices of SY.RIZ.A torched in solidarity action with hunger strikes (Greece)

Tuesday, March 24th, 2015

Inter Arma received and translated:

While social democratic reserves of the regime try to flatter us and ecstatic besotted petty bourgeois voters are dancing sirtaki at Syntagma, during demonstrations in favor of the government (!), the wolves that escaped the hunt come down to the city with rage…

It goes without saying that no faction of authoritarian potty politicians would ever be able to satisfy our wild desires. You’re talking about left government, we wish for the State to be destroyed. You’re promising salary increases, reduced taxes, jobs, we want the elimination of money, commodity and labor. You’re asking for “democratization of the security forces,” we want the cops dead on asphalt. You’re fighting for better conditions in the neighborhoods, but we want to just have fun on the flaming ruins of your cities. You do politics, we make war. Things are difficult dear perry politicians. You understand that there is a vast existential abyss bestacnedrug.com between us and there is not much room for dialogue.

So, it is no wonder that on Monday 23/3, at dawn, the official day of the “neighborhood cop” return, we chose to offer the office of the local organization of the governing party into the flames of negation, in Patisia.

We dedicate this attack to our brothers and sisters on hunger strike and we demand the immediate satisfaction of all of their demands, without implying that any of the enemy’s concessions, on such particular demands, can silence our longing for the total destruction of your world and your emetic society:

– Immediate release of Savas Ksiros

– Immediate release of the Tsakalos’ brothers’ mother and Gerasimos’ partner.

– Abolition of the counter-terrorist laws and the hood-law.

– Abolition of C’ Type prisons.

– Abolition of the provisions relating to violent DNA taking.

– Free internet access for all the prisoners.

CCF Escape case: Report about the inquisition – 6 March 2015 – Updated (Greece)

Friday, March 6th, 2015

UPDATED

As is known, the CCF imprisoned members are on hunger strike until death. Christos’ and Gerasimos’ mother and Gerasimos’ wife testified to the investigating judge on Tuesday, where they both denied the charge of being members of a “terrorist organization” (which is what they are charged with). The comrades’ mother only accepted the charge of “harboring a criminal”, and she was remanded by the counter-terror state. Gerasimos’ wife was also remanded the same day.

On March 4th, Christos Tsakalos wrote a political claim of his own, concerning the escape attempt, and Giorgos Polydoros published a text as well, as a personal friend of his brother was arrested (he was released along with the woman who was arrested on Saturday).

On March 5th, Aggeliki S. and the 39-year-old comrade Christos R. who was arrested in the neighbourhood of Galatsi on February 28th were demanded to testify. Aggeliki gave a statement saying she did not recognise the court and declared herself as anarchist. Aggeliki was then detained in Korydallos, and she had already began a hunger strike from the point of her arrest with the common aims of CCF. Christos R. also gave a statement, and was immediately remanded to Domokos Type C prison.

On March 6th, Christos Polydoros, brother of Giorgos, voluntarily went to the public prosecutor to speak against the repression of the family and friends of CCF, so the prosecutor vermin ordered his arrest. Currently, Christos Polydoros is being held by the anti-terrorist force in the Athens police headquarters [he is now released, 10 March].

Combative prisoners on collective hunger strike as of March 2nd 2015 (Greece)

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2015

via contra-info:

On March 2nd 2015, combative prisoners launched a hunger strike in various Greek prisons. Their main demands are: the abolition of Article 187 (criminal organisation) and Article 187A (terrorist organisation) of the Greek Penal Code; of the “hoodie law” (acts committed with concealed physical characteristics); of the legal framework for Type C prisons; of the prosecutorial provision of forcible taking of DNA samples – and the immediate release from prison of Savvas Xiros (convicted for his participation in the R.O. 17 November) on health grounds.

So far, those who have joined the political prisoners’ mobilisation and collective hunger strike are three urban guerrillas incarcerated in the E1 wing of Domokos type C prison: Dimitris Koufontinas, Kostas Gournas, and Revolutionary Struggle member Nikos Maziotis – and five participants in the Network of Imprisoned Fighters (DAK): Antonis Stamboulos (Larissa prison), Tasos Theofilou (Domokos prison), Fivos Harisis, Argyris Ntalios and Giorgos Karagiannidis (Koridallos prison). The rest of the comrades who participate in the Network of Imprisoned Fighters will join the hunger strike in the coming days.

Furthermore, in the E1 wing of Domokos type C prison, Giorgos Sofianidis has been on hunger strike since February 27th, requesting the abolition of type C maximum security prisons, in addition to his immediate transfer to Koridallos prison in order to continue his studies – and as of today, March 2nd, Mohamed-Said Elchibah also went on a hunger strike.

“About the new government of national salvation” communique by Anarchist Group 'Chaos Symphony' (Greece)

Saturday, February 28th, 2015

Inter Arma received and translated:

In the ongoing reality, the global economic crisis, having eroded the political and economic stability of states, reshapes the political map, where new correletions are created, in an effort to find the policies to address and manage the crisis and to restore stability. In Greece, the change of the political correlations were reflected with the election of SY.RIZ.A. in the government office. This political fluidity and mobility fits into the general European level, where countries most affected by the crisis, such as the European south, are in the process of changing governments. In response to the general frustration of the masses, as they have lost their privileges because of the harsh neo-liberal policies, social-democrats promise to restore these privileges through an interventionist policy in support of the people. This obviously is not possible within the European context, especially when the financial liquidity of the economy of a state depends on funding programs whose terms and conditions are determined by third capitalist institutions. In this case, there are no more than two options: The continuation of the previous policy, with some ostensible relief measures in order for the government to maintain its profile as long as it can or a potential bankruptcy. Statement signed by all the prisoners in the E1 wing of Domokos type C prison (Greece)

Saturday, February 28th, 2015

Via contrainfo:

Prisoner Giorgos Sofianidis began a hunger strike on Friday 27/2 demanding his transfer to Koridallos prison (where he was incarcerated until News Year’s Eve) so that he is able to attend his studies in the same region where educational institutions to which he has already been admitted are available (besides, one of those schools operates inside Koridallos prison). Below is a statement by all the prisoners in the E1 wing of Domokos maximum security prison.

We, all the prisoners currently held in the E1 special wing in the prison within the prison, the type C prison of Domokos, declare that as of today February 27th 2015 we are going to abstain from prison meals and refuse to enter the cells at noon.

We stand by our fellow prisoner, hunger striker Giorgos Sofianidis, and ask that he be moved back to Koridallos prison, otherwise he risks losing any possibility to study at the TEI (Technological Education Institute) of Piraeus and the IEK (Institute of Professional Training) of Koridallos prison.

We demand that the special conditions of detention as well as the barbaric and inhumane type C prison be abolished.

Our mobilisations will continue until the type C prisons are permanently abolished.

Type C Prisons: Domokos prison chief warden killed by Kalashnikovs near Lamia (Greece)

Saturday, February 21st, 2015

The chief warden of Domokos’ Type C high security prison was murdered on Saturday (21/02/2015) evening near the city of Lamia, in central Greece, police said. According to the information received so far, the 47 year-old victim left his house in the area of Kouvela, located between the town of Lamia and Stylida, just before 17.30 to go hunting in the wider area.

As soon as he got into his jeep, a passenger car with two or three individuals approached him and opened fire with Kalashnikovs and a nine-millimeter pistol. The victim was riddled with more than 20 bullets on the head and chest and had no time to react.

Police launched a manhunt to find the suspects and set up road blocks in the wider area but at time of writing had failed to find anything other than empty shells, witness statements and a corpse.

Letter from anarchist comrade Nikos Romanos concerning his hunger-strike (Greece)

Thursday, February 19th, 2015

Translated by Act for freedom now!

I am writing this text to critically evaluate the struggle we carried out, as it is an important legacy that needs to be analysed so that we can use it as a strategy compass for the hard days ahead.

The State, aware of the political defeat it suffered, is counter-attacking on other fronts of the struggle, so the continuation of a coordination based on specific agreements is necessary. Not only as a defensive battle position but as a conscious possibility of re-entering the chessboard with assertion as some comrades have rightly said.

During the hunger strike the State weighed up what the political cost of my possible extermination would be; the more the multi-form solidarity movement strengthened, the more the State changed its rhetoric. In brief we can say that the chameleons of government policies changed colour four times. From provocative indifference to superiority, then to a show of power, followed by panic. But let me be more specific. (more…)

Statement of prisoners in Wing E1, C Type jail of Domokos (Greece)

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2015

Update: New announcement

We, the prisoners, who live and die like animals in these prisons – warehouses of humans, are denouncing those who created these prisons, first of all the former Minister Athanasiou, as responsible. These proper ones have spent huge amounts, especially for electronic surveillance and exterior security by over-equipped special police forces, however they are criminally indifferent to our life and health. Also, they ignore their own laws, prison codes and internal adjustments, which provide to ensure the medical and pharmaceutical care for prisoners.

So, in Domokos prison there are no doctors, neither nurses nor even social service. Therefore, in the Greek legislation there may not exist a death penalty, but in Greek prisons that penalty is imposed in practice.

Today, in the morning, at 4:00 a.m., another fellow inmate was lost, Mexas Alcibiades, 52 years old in D2 wing. Since 12 at noon, yesterday, he was requesting for a doctor, a doctor who we never had in this prison. (more…)

CCF Escape case: Text concerning recent events by Anarchist Squat Nadir (Thessaloniki, Greece)

Thursday, January 29th, 2015

Inter Arma received and translated:

TYPE C’ PRISONS, THE ESCAPE ATTEMPT OF CCF, THE SCENARIOS ABOUT OSMOSIS BETWEEN CRIMINALS AND TERRORISTS AND THE JOURNALISTS’ CESSPOOL

We are not going to talk about how C’ type prisons are structured, how they were built or how they’re going to be improved. We will just say that they are not any kind of impenetrable barrier or some invincible beast. C’ type prisons are another act of war against the prisoners of war. They are the answer of the state against anarchists who haven’t bent down their heads, that every day hone the axe of war, who haven’t quit and haven’t delayed in action against the enemy. They are built for those who didn’t turn into “coffee shop guerrillas” or “imprisoned ideologists” towards repression. Besides, the state never spared these people. And the state’s monopoly of violence has always been broken only when the recipient of it disputed it through action.

ON THE CCF’s ESCAPE ATTEMPT

On January 4th, there was an escape from Korydallos prison planned by the members of CCF. The previous day, the cops disrupted the escape, for which they admit that it was one of the most perfectly organized hits of the last decades. (more…)

Communique of the Prisoners of the Women's Wing, Korydallos Prison (Greece)

Monday, January 19th, 2015

On January 16th, 2015, an invasion of the EKAM group [anti-terrorist unit] took place in the men’s prison of Korydallos, keeping the whole prison closed from midday till the next morning, blocking the prisoners’ right to have yard time and general activities. Not long ago, on December 12th and on New Year’s Eve, prisoners’ transfers were ordered to Domokos prison, so that the C’ Type prisons are put into action. This is the modern Guantanamo bay. In the very next days, new transfers took place, and specifically there was the transfer of the two members of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire to the white cells of Korydallos’ women prison.

In this electoral game played against prisoners, women prisoners have turned for a long time now into sacks of potatoes squeezed and crowded together in a warehouse of souls, without anyone giving a shit. While the women’s prison has three wings with 150 people capacity in each, right now 120 women have been crammed into the floor of one single wing, as the other rooms were given over for other uses or are empty.

We’re not going to analyze the data further, but not so long ago we made demonstrations denouncing all the problems we are experiencing today and the promises given by the representatives of the Ministry before our eyes, which were never put in place. Since we’re not going to stand for living like animals anymore, and, of course, no animal deserves to live like we do; since the C’ Type prisons today deal with the male prisoners, but tomorrow another one will be built for us; and, lastly, since we’re not going to put up with political games being played on our backs, as from today January 18th, 2015, to January 21st, 2015, we refuse to go back to our cells during the midday lockdown, as an act of solidarity with the demands of the male prisoners in Korydallos prison.

Communique of the Prisoners of Korydallos Prison (Greece)

Monday, January 19th, 2015

On January 16th 2015, an invasion of EKAM police officers [anti-terrorist unit] and other repressive forces took place and they carried out searches in our fellow prisoners’ cells. This is why our midday yard time did not happen and we remained locked all day. A few days ago, during the lunch time on New Year’s Eve, the initial transfer of prisoners was ordered so that the Greek Guantanamo bay of Domokos could be be inaugurated (although on this specific day transfers don’t regularly take place), playing this way their dirty electoral game on our backs. On Saturday January 3rd, after an invasion and investigation by the EKAM, our fellow prisoners and members of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire, Christos Tsakalos and Gerasimos Tsakalos, were kidnapped in the night and transferred to the isolation-basement of the women’s Korydallos prison. After all this, we decided to mobilize and as a first reaction we refused to be locked back in our cells in the midday, until Saturday January 24th 2015. In the following days, we are going to escalate our actions if necessary. We are going for:

1) The abolition of the ‘C’ type prisons.

2)The return of all those already transferred to the ‘C’ type prison in Domokos, and the return of our fellow prisoners Gerasimos Tsakalos and Christos Tsakalos from the isolation wing of the women’s prison of Korydallos, back to the prison they were in.

3) During this rebellion, we’re not going to accept any more transfers to the ‘C’ type prisons. We will consider every such act as revenge against our struggle and we are going to react accordingly.

When will Koutsimichali, the Director of Korydallos prison, and the prosecutors Poimenidis and Marsioni stop allowing these unlawful criminal acts? Are they ignorant of the prisoners torture or are they aiming for it?
Let everyone take their responsibilities.

Prisoners of the A, B, C, D, E wings of Korydallos prison
