A communique about the disciplinary wings of Korydallos prison by Dimitris Politis (Greece)

Tuesday, September 16th, 2014

via interarma:

In the middle of July, I was transferred to the state hospital of Nikea for some medical examinations. There, given the nature of that examination and due to the police presence during the procedure, which was demanded by the doctor himself, I refused to be examined and I returned to prison. On the 6th of August, I was called to a disciplinary council on the charge of disobedience because I refused to execute the command of my police escort. By entering the office of the commanding prison officer with the intention of telling the prosecutor that I have nothing to state and then leave, I sat opposite to her and she addressed me saying “stand up”. I didn’t pay attention to what she said and while I was telling her to get serious, she told me again with an arrogant smile to stand up. Then, I crumpled the piece of paper where the charges were written and I threw it in her face. I was obviously standing before another arrogant and misled person, who was under the illusion that she owns the world. I was facing another expendable and petty pawn that was under the illusion that all prisoners are inferior to it. So, in order for her to restore her wounded ego, she “punished” me with a five-day restriction penalty in a “special detention wing”. (more…)

Announcement of relatives and friends of prisoners (Greece)

Translated by Act for freedom now!

Announcement of relatives and friends of prisoners

We are the RELATIVES and FRIENDS OF PRISONERS. We who one day were violently deprived of the embrace, affection, protection, company the friendship of the people who the state has deprived of their freedom. We, because of the voting of the monstrosity called the law for high security prisons, decided to unite our forces, fighting with every possible means to support them.

Recognizing that historically no prison ever corrected anyone and believing in the complete abolition of this outdated institution, we stand in support to:

– All political prisoners, anarchists and communists.
– All penal prisoners who stand with militant dignity inside prison (not the snitches, smack dealers, cooperators of authority, members and preservers of circuits of violence).

Although factual support towards the prisoners can in the future gain, according to our forces, many forms, we begin with the following practices:

1. Publicizing laws and provisions which aim at the full attack of the state against the prisoners (law for C’type prisons etc.).
2. Following their judicial struggles (trials, transfers, release applications, hospitalizations) and publicizing every arbitrary method the judicial authority uses on them.
3. Condemning all sorts of arbitrariness of the correctional-police system and the general conditions of their detentions.
4. Intervening directly in matters concerning their health and the lack of elementary needs.

Every means and way of public projection and information will be used.

A few words related to the call for a week of actions in solidarity with anarchist prisoners / Poche parole legate alla chiamata ad una settimana di azioni in solidarietà coi prigionieri anarchici (Grecia)

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014

NB: English version here on Contra-Info.

(more…)

Security service starts to empty Domokos prison in order to turn it into a Guantanamo (Greece)

Monday, September 1st, 2014

via actforfree:

As of last Monday 25/8/14, the security service started to empty Domokos prison, in order for it to be transformed into a ‘C’ type hellhole, according to the fascist law 4274/2014. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday they transferred about 100 prisoners to other prisons around the country!

As soon as we got the information that the emptying procedure started in Domokos we found the decision of the Ministry of Justice dated August 1st 2014, which orders the “transformation of Domokos Correctional Facility from type B to type C prison”.
This procedure is suppose to be completed within two months after the fascist law is published.

According to safe sources, the whole procedure of evacuating Domokos prison and transferring all prisoners intended for type C prisons (first in line are the prisoners sentenced for armed revolutionary action), is supposed to be done by the end of September. This fascist law says that the prisoners will be transferred to C type prisons within 10 days from the publication of the internal law. It is not a coincidence that they are emptying Domokos in such a fast pace (30 to 40 prisoners a day).

FREEDOM TO ALL THOSE IN CELLS

COMRADES FROM ACT FOR FREEDOM NOW!

via actforfree:

LIBERTA’ A TUTTI I PRIGIONIERI

Monday, June 23rd, 2014

Above: Photo of solidarity from Zürich – Against FIFA and solidarity with the struggle of Greek prisoners.

325 receives and transmits the following:

Against high security prisons

Immediately, after the government reshuffle and the flagrantly closing sessions of the Parliament, the political staff of the local and international capital, gives priority to the voting of the bill for creating high security prisons during the summer sessions of the Parliament. The bill will be submitted for debate on the 17th of June.

The proposed legislation proposes the creation of 3 types of prisons with escalating repression. The debts prisoners will be kept in the “milder” wings called wings Type A. The majority of the prisoners will be “stored” in wings Type B under terrible conditions. Simultaneously, wings Type C are being created for prisoners belonging to the category of “special and prominent danger”.

The target of this bill are the anarchists and the communists, who were imprisoned for their political actions, the undisciplined prisoners, namely those who fight against the cruel reality of imprisonment and finally the prisoners accused for organized crime. (more…)

Mobilisations outside and inside the prisons against the murder of Ilia Kareli and the new Type C prison plans (Greece)

Wednesday, April 9th, 2014

Footage from these moments:

A big mobilization has started since last month in almost all by now Greek prisons. The mobilization is a reaction for the new law about the maximum security type C prisons. Meanwhile an inmate named Ilia Kareli killed a guard with a knife and the guards in different prisons along with the police tortured him and killed him. So the mobilization acts also in honour with Kareli’s murder and is continuing the struggle. We also send some photos from the A wing of Koridallos prisons (Athens) in an act of honour of Ilia Kareli’s death.

The slogans say “we never forget, we never forgive” “fire to the prisons bombs to the courthouses” “if not now when?” There is also a video of slogans that were shouted at our refusal as prisoners of the A wing and the female wing to get in the prison from the prison yard for 1 hour after the normal yard lock down.

Here are some banners from the women’s prison of Koridallos during the protest of around 1000 people outside the prison against the new maximum security type c prisons.
