Vasilis Maggos was savagely beaten by riot cops at a solidarity demo.
1 month later he is found dead
The video that you’ll see depicts the brutal riot police attack against 27-year-old Vassilis Maggos on Sunday, June 14, 2020 in the Greek city of Volos, during a rally of solidarity to the detainees of the previous day’s protest (13/6) against the polluting garbage burning by LAFARGE / AGET companies and against the creation of an SRF factory by the Municipality of Volos.
According to myvolos. net, Vassilis Maggos was found dead in his room by his mother yesterday evening (July 13, 2020). “The mother tried to bring her son back to life and notified the emergency services, but it was already late. The police rushed to the spot and examined the area, ruling out any criminal activity and requested an autopsy – necropsy to determine the causes of death of 27-year-old Vassilis Maggos, who almost a month ago had been recorded to be brutally attacked by the riot police outside the Courts of Volos.
According to a post at the time by the “People’s Assembly against Garbage Incineration” the originally posted the above video on June 14, 2020, The young man was savagely beaten in front of passers-by in the center of Volos and was taken to the Magnesia Police Department. In the car that transported him, according to his father’s testimony, the police continued to beat and abuse him. The severe beating continued inside the police headquarters building. They beat him mercilessly, breaking his ribs until the young man shouted “I cannot breathe”. At the height of the violence, the police tortured him. When he asked for water, they took him to the freezer and gave him water drop by drop just to torture him and while he could not stand on his legs. In the end, they released him so that he could be taken to the hospital, because he needed immediate medical treatment. His condition was so dire that the doctors were afraid that his broken bones may pierce his vital organs”. “Amongst his injuries, he had suffered 7 broken ribs and vital organ injuries”.

Contribution to the international call for solidarity with the imprisoned anarchist comrades (August 23-30)
As a contribution to the international call for solidarity with the imprisoned anarchist comrades (August 23-30), and as a denotation of support to the recently arrested and imprisoned comrades K. Sakkas and M. Seisidis, we hung 2 banners and wrote slogans in Athens, and we hung a banner in Volos.
”There are people unknown to you that watch you from the shadows, while you haunt the anarchists, and they wait for the favorable moment to haunt the haunters on their turn.”
STRENGTH TO K. SAKKAS AND M. SEISIDIS
SOLIDARITY WITH ALL THE IMPRISONED ANARCHIST COMRADES
FIRE TO THE PRISONS
LONG LIVE ANARCHY

In the morning of 02/09, we did the least we could do by hanging two banners in the city streets, seeking to send a sign of solidarity to the imprisoned Evi Statiri but also a sign of complicity in the face of the impending struggle about her release in case the six-month pre-trial detention is extended by the Court of Appeals on 03/09.
Evi Statiri is held hostage for six months now, accused of being a member of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire only because of her relationship with G.Tsakalos and the emotional blow her imprisonment can inflict on CCF’s morale, which was not bent from the discovery of the escape plan and the arrest of anarchist A.Spyropoulou, trying to make them repent. The vengeful fury of the judicial mechanisms and particularly of the appellate magistrate E.Nikopoulos, who constantly rejects the bail applications of Evi despite the provision passed after the recent hunger strike of the CCF, does not stop there, as even after her release, the mother of G. and Ch.Tsakalos, A.Tsakalou, who was arrested along with Evi, finds herself in a special form of exile in Salamina, from where she is not allowed to leave.
Strength to E.Statiri, A.Tsakalou, the comrades of the Cell of imprisoned members of CCF and A.Spyropoulou
Zero tolerance for the judicial mafia and every form of authority
The war rages on…
Until the total destruction of every prison
Until total liberation

via contra info:
1,000 hours of theory equal 1 minute of action.
In the early morning hours of Friday, March 21st, 2014, we attacked the tax office of the Nea Ionia district in the city of Volos. We chose to torch the tax archives, and poured records with gasoline and lit them on fire. Our goal was to expand the flames throughout the whole of the building, but due to lack of oxygen the fire didn’t spread. Next time we’ll be more cautious.
– The reasons why we chose to target the tax office are self-evident. Our only debt to the main predatory mechanism of the State is its destruction.
– Action replaces tears.
– We take action to overcome our fears.
– We will not wait for any condition to become ripe.
– We will not wait for any society to wake up.
– We will not wait for any ‘revolutionary’ to revolutionize oneself.
We urge anyone who doesn’t want to live a slavish life, anyone who consciously opposes this aging world, to let go of the miseries and ideologized inactivity, and act aggressively.
Let us be the ones who start to determine the current event agenda.
Anarchists in action
Banners, posters and 6 ATMs burning after an attack for the arrested comrades Andreas Tsavdaridis & Spyros Mandylas (Greece)
Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013
The poster by Anarchist Squat Utopia A.D. (Komotini) was released in 21/08 and was translated in English by Contra Info (Spanish and Italian and Greek versions also available). Andreas Tsavdaridis and Spyros Mandylas were arrested in Thessaloniki and accused of participation and responsibility in the Phoenix Project of the Informal Anarchist Federation (FAI). They are specifically accused also of sending a letter bomb to the former boss of the Greek anti-terrorist unit, the same pig who conducted the repression against the comrades of the Conspiracy of Cells of Fire – 1st Phase. The imprisoned members of the CCF are also accused for all the attacks as well. (more…)

On Monday 11/3, at 03:10 pm, a group of anarchists launched a coordinated attack against three “Gold Market” shops and a fur shop in Volos, Greece. The guerilla group “Anarchists for direct action” claimed responsibility for the attack by publishing a communiqué a few days after the assault. In their text, the comrades explain their views on the “Gold Market” phenomenon in Greece and on the fur industry as a part of the brutality of the capitalistic system.
Note: “Gold Market” shops are places where poor people exchange their possessions made of gold (i.e. jewelry) with money. Gold market shops spread like cancer in Greece after the economic crisis broke out and they are widely considered as a modern legitimate black-market taking advantage of people’s urgent need for cash.
